  • This paper analyses current densities induced inside a worker using AC arc welder. Applying the boundary element method, we calculate current densities induced in organs inside a worker in case he was located at 1cm, 3cm, 5cm, 10cm, 15cm, 20cm far from a power cable of AC arc welder. As results of study, we find a maximum current density induces at a heart surface and may be higher than $10mA/m^2$ of ICNIRP guideline if he works within 15cm from a power cable.

  • PMOSFETs were studied on the effect of Hot-Carrier induced drain leakage current (Gate-Induced-Drain-Leakage). The result turned out that change in Vgl(drain voltage where 1pA/$\mu$m of drain leadage current flows) was largest in the Channel-Hot-Hole(CHH) injection condition and next was in dynamic stress and was smallest in electron trapping (Igmax) condition under various stress conditions. It was analyzed that if electron trapping occurrs in the overlap region of gate and drain(G/D), it reduces GIDL current due to increment of flat-band voltage(Vfb) and if CHH is injected, interface states(Nit) were generated and it increases GIDL current due to band-to-defect-tunneling(BTDT). Especially, under dynamic stress it was confirmed that increase in GIDL current will be high when electron injection was small and CHH injection was large. Therefore as applying to real circuit, low drain voltage GIDL(BTDT) was enhaced as large as CHH Region under various operating voltage, and it will affect the reliablity of the circuit.

  • The effects of the magnetic property variation on current-induced magnetization switching in magnetic tunnel junction with perpendicular magnetic anistoropy (PMA) and the soft magnetic polarization-enhancement layers (PELs) inserted between the layers with PMA and the MgO layer was studied. A micromatnetic model was used to estimate the switching time of the free layer by different applied current densities, with changing saturation magnetization ($M_s$) of the PELs, interlayer exchange coupling between PMA layers and PELs. The switching time could be significantly reduced at low current densities, by increasing $M_s$ of PELs and decreasing interlayer exchange coupling.

  • The gate induced drain leakage(GIDL) current under the stress of worse case in -MOSFET's with ultrathin gate oxides has been measured and characterized. The GIDL current was shown that P-MOSFET's of the thicker gate oxide is smaller than that of the thinner gate oxide. It was the results that the this cur-rent is decreased with the increamental stress time at the same devices. It is analyzed that the formation components of GIDL current are both energy band to band tunneling at high gate-drain voltage and energy band to defect tunneling at low drain-gate voltage. The degradations of GIDL current was analyzed the mechanism of major role in the hot carriers trapping in gate oxide by on-state stress.

  • The analgesic mechanism of opioids is known to decrease the excitability of substantia gelatinosa (SG) neurons receiving the synaptic inputs from primary nociceptive afferent fiber by increasing inwardly rectifying $K^+$ current. In this study, we examined whether a ${\mu}$-opioid agonist, [D-Ala2,N-Me-Phe4, Gly5-ol]-enkephalin (DAMGO), affects the two-pore domain $K^+$ channel (K2P) current in rat SG neurons using a slice whole-cell patch clamp technique. Also we confirmed which subtypes of K2P channels were associated with DAMGO-induced currents, measuring the expression of K2P channel in whole spinal cord and SG region. DAMGO caused a robust hyperpolarization and outward current in the SG neurons, which developed almost instantaneously and did not show any time-dependent inactivation. Half of the SG neurons exhibited a linear I~V relationship of the DAMGO-induced current, whereas rest of the neurons displayed inward rectification. In SG neurons with a linear I~V relationship of DAMGO-induced current, the reversal potential was close to the $K^+$ equilibrium potentials. The mRNA expression of TWIK (tandem of pore domains in a weak inwardly rectifying $K^+$ channel) related acid-sensitive $K^+$ channel (TASK) 1 and 3 was found in the SG region and a low pH (6.4) significantly blocked the DAMGO-induced $K^+$ current. Taken together, the DAMGO-induced hyperpolarization at resting membrane potential and subsequent decrease in excitability of SG neurons can be carried by the two-pore domain $K^+$ channel (TASK1 and 3) in addition to inwardly rectifying $K^+$ channel.

  • It has been reported that activation of metabotropic glutamate receptor 1 (mGluR1) can mediate endocannabinoid-induced short-term depression of synaptic transmission in cerebellar parallel fiber (PF)-Purkinje cell (PC) synapse. mGluR1 has signaling pathways involved in intracellular calcium increase which may contribute to endocannabinoid release. Two major mGluR1-evoked calcium signaling pathways are known: (1) slow-kinetic inward current carried by transient receptor potential canonical (TRPC) channel which is permeable to $Ca^{2+}$; (2) $IP_3$-induced calcium release from intracellular calcium store. However, it is unclear how much each calcium source contributes to endocannabinoid signaling. Here, we investigated whether calcium influx through mGluR1-evoked TRPC channel contributes to endocannabinoid signaling in cerebellar Purkinje cells. At first, we applied SKF96365 to inhibit TRPC, which blocked endocannabinoid-induced short-term depression completely. However, an alternative TRP channel inhibitor, BTP2 did not affect endocannabinoid-induced short-term depression although it blocked mGluR1-evoked TRPC currents. Endocannabinoid signaling occurred normally even though the TRPC current was mostly blocked by BTP2. Our data imply that TRPC current does not play an important role in endocannabinoid signaling. We also suggest precaution in applying SKF96365 to inhibit TRP channels and propose BTP2 as an alternative TRPC inhibitor.

  • This study was measured the radiation-induced current - X-ray dose, dose rate, X-ray quality, time, temperature, electric field characteristics and the dependence of gap length in insulating oil under of D.C. Voltage before, during and after X-ray irradiation. The obtained results can be summarized as following. 1. The radiation - induced current is more the dependence of X-ray quality (tube voltage) than quantity (tube current), the dependence of quantity is appeared at the high than low X-.ay tube voltage. 2. The dependence of dose rate is appeared at the more dose rate, and ${\triangle}\;=\;0.64{\sim}0.74$. 3. The higher temperature of insulating oil and X-ray tube voltage (X-ray quality) is increased, at the low electric field, the more radiation-induced current. 4. $G_{eq}-G_{o}(={\triangle}G)$ is increased at the low than high temperature, high than low X-ray quality. 5. The dependence of temperature is appeared before than during X-ray irradiation. 6. The RIC saturation region is appeared at the high than low insulating oil temperature during (1000 V/cm above) than before (4000 V/cm above) X-ray irradiation.

  • Bupleuri radix (Umbelliferae), the dried root of Bupleurum Chinense DC, has been clinically used to mitigate pain sensation. The descending pain control system consists of three major components, and modulation of pain in the periaqueductal gray is the most extensively studied descending pain control system. However, the relation of Bupleuri radix on the descending pain control system has not been clarified. In the present study, modulation of the aqueous extract of Bupleuri radix on glycine-induced ion current in the acutely dissociated periaqueductal gray neurons was investigated by using nystatin-perforated patch-clamp technique under voltage-clamp condition. In the present results, the glycine-induced ion current was significantly suppressed by 0.1 mg/ml Bupleuri radix, while treatment with $10^{-5}\;M$ naltrexone, opioid receptor antagonist, alleviated Bupleuri radix-induced inhibition on glycine-induced ion current. The present study showed that the aqueous extract of Bupleuri radix may activate descending pain control system through inhibition on glycine-induced ion current in the periaqueductal gray neurons and this effect is mediated by opioid receptors.

  • This paper analyzes the lightning-induced overvoltage and current in buried underground distribution cable. Based on analytical expressions, the lightning-induced overvoltage and current in buried underground distribution cable is calculated by EMTP/MODELS. The modeling is verified by comparing with the results in reference. Also, the type and buried arrangement of cables used in domestic distribution line are modeled by EMTP/ATPDraw. The various simulations according to the type and buried arrangement of cable are performed and the simulation results are analyzed.
