  • MIMO wireless communication embedded systems, and for propagation prediction for indoor and outdoor propagation prediction program incorporates an indoor/outdoor propagation through the simulator can be predicted.   • The huge success of location-aware applications has called for the rapid development of an alternative positioning system to the global positioning system (GPS) for indoor localization based on existing technologies, such as 802.11 wireless networks. This paper proposes the Wireless MAC Processor Positioning System (WMPS), which is a localization system running on off-the-shelf 802.11 Access Points and based on the time-of-flight ranging of users' standard terminals. This paper proves through extensive experiments that the propagation delays can be measured with the accuracy required by indoor applications despite the different noise components that can affect the result: latencies of the hardware transreceivers, multipath, ACK jitters and timer quantization. Key to this solution is the choice of the Wireless MAC Processor architecture, which enables a straightforward implementation of the ranging subsystem directly inside the commercial cards without affecting the basic DCF channel access algorithm. In addition to the proposed measurement framework, this study developed a simple and effective localization algorithm that can work without requiring any preliminary calibration or device characterization. Finally, the architecture allows the measurement methodology to be adjusted as a function of the network load or propagation environments at the run time, without requiring any firmware update.

  • This paper was proposed a wave path loss prediction algorithm using multilayer perceptron (MLP) model and wave propagation characteristic parameters for Wireless LAN in indoor radio environments. Receiving power was predicted by calculating indoor path loss in a Wireless LAN that has transmission power of 100mW and frequency of 2.4GHz, and was compared with measured. In the result of measurement shows that there is a difference between predicted and measured receiving power which can be reduced by an accurate analysis of the various path loss factors. In order to fix the access point(AP) positions was used the proposed a wave path loss prediction algorithm, and designed the optimum cell for Wireless LAN.

  • This paper proposes an efficient location technique to find an indoor location under the IEEE 802.11 wireless local area networks. The proposed method is based on the range measurements obtained from a simple radio frequency propagation model. Thus, unlike the radio frequency fingerprint correlation method, it does not suffer from the computational burden during the real-time location service period and can quickly reply the location requests of many users at the same time. To increase the location accuracy in spite of the frequent non-line-of-sight error occurrences, the proposed method calibrates the distortion of the non-line-of-sight error by a simple measurement surveying procedure that does not require the surveyor's manual interaction. Experimental results show the capability of the proposed method.

  • Lightning surge damages of low voltage equipments in building are increasing due to increase in electrical and communication networks in the information-oriented society And electrical circuits with semiconductor are very weak against lightning surge. To achieve effective method of surge protection on low voltage lines, there are needs for the relationship between propagation aspects of lightning surge and arrangement of indoor wire. This paper describes the experimental study on the relationship between them. This result may be raw data for establishment of surge protection system.

Blind Signal Processing for Medical Sensing Systems with Optical-Fiber Signal Transmission

  • In many medical image devices, dc noise often prevents normal diagnosis. In wireless capsule endoscopy systems, multipath fading through indoor wireless links induces inter-symbol interference (ISI) and indoor electric devices generate impulsive noise in the received signal. Moreover, dc noise, ISI, and impulsive noise are also found in optical fiber communication that can be used in remote medical diagnosis. In this paper, a blind signal processing method based on the biased probability density functions of constant modulus error that is robust to those problems that can cause error propagation in decision feedback (DF) methods is presented. Based on this property of robustness to error propagation, a DF version of the method is proposed. In the simulation for the impulse response of optical fiber channels having slowly varying dc noise and impulsive noise, the proposed DF method yields a performance enhancement of approximately 10 dB in mean squared error over its linear counterpart.

  • Damages of lightning surge for low voltage equipments in the house are increasing due to electronic equipments working in more and more low voltage and becoming smaller. And that is increasing due to increase communication networks in the information-oriented society. So, to achieve effective method of surge protection, there are needs for correlation between indoor wire and propagation aspect of lightning surge. Therefore this paper describes as a result of experiments for propagation aspect of lightning surge according to arrangement of indoor wire.

  • In this paper, we measured the propagation characteristics of I-UWB channel in time domain and in frequency domain. The measurements carried out in apartment environment while furniture and household electric appliance. Typical indoor scenarios, including line-of-sight(LOS), non-line-of-sight(NLOS) in room-to-room, within-the-room. A transmitting and receiving antenna is a biconical antenna. Results for indoor propagation measurements are presented for power delay profiles(PDP). We extracted the channel characteristic parameters from a power delay profile. Finally, we designed I-UWB channel model in indoor environment, and I-UWB simulator. The results of simulation shows BER characteristics below $10^{-5}$ for SNR over 20[dB].

  • Multiple antenna techniques employed in fourth generation mobile communication systems are affected on their performance mostly by transmission environments and antenna configurations. The performance of the indoor LTE(Long-term Evolution) MIMO(multiple input multiple output) has been rigorously evaluated with considering various diversity transmission schemes and propagation conditions in the paper. Specifically, MAC TP(medium access control throughput) and LTE system parameters related to the MIMO technique are analyzed for several indoor propagation conditions. The performance comparison between multiple antenna diversity mode and single antenna mode has been derived as well. The results performed in the paper give the guideline on antenna configurations of polarization diversity in LTE 2×2 MIMO for various indoor channel environments, and possibly are exploited by network operators and antenna manufacturers.

  • In this paper, to investigate the possibility of fading reduction effect and high transmission rate in indoor multipath propagation environment, we measured and analyzed broadband signal conducting by frequency sweeping method in LOS(Line-of-Sight) environment. In measuring, we used vertically polarized, horizonatally polarized and circularly polarized and circularly polarized antenna to compare the fading reduction effect and the characteristic of bandwidth amplitude fluctuation between each broadband signals. As a result, it can be seen that the circularly polarized antenna can reduce the amplitude deviation of the broadband signal because it can remove the odd-times reflected wave in LOS environment. And also, It was found that the best effective diversity reception method is to use polarization branches, which install a circularly polarized antenna at the transmitting end and compose the vertical and horizontal antenna at the receiving end.
