Rethinking the Value of Family. This study compares and contrasts positive and negative viewpoints concerning the family. Currently, a resurgence in positive viewpoints has exposed the untruths and myths put forth concerning the family on the part of those with a more pessimistic viewpoint. However, those with negative viewpoints still have not acknowledged that the family is an important part of human lives. In this study, the "equal family" (a family where tasks are split evenly among, say, the mother and father with regard to both vocation and household tasks) is criticized as an alternative to the "unfair family", as the "equal family" structure fails to go beyond the liberalization of family relationships to create a virtuous structure worthy of emulation by the children in the family. This is true in spite of the fact that the "equal family" structure has done much to improve individual freedom in the lives of its members. In conclusion, this study posits a third family structure, the "life family," as a new alternative to the other two models. The "life family" recognizes the family's central role: as a safe haven for raising children and building human esteem through close long-term relationships.

The purpose of this study is to develop a practical and efficient school consumer education program for adolescents so they could apply the program in their real life situations and lead a sound and rational consuming life. 'I, Family. Society and Consuming Life' is a program targeted for adolescents and focuses on the resolution of practical problems related to consuming life that an individual faces in everyday lives while living as a member of a family and a society. The content of this program consists of 'I and consuming life', 'I and the consuming life of a family', and 'I and the consuming life of a society'. Through this program, adolescents will be able to improve the ability to solve practical problems they face in their consumer lives. and build the sound values on consumption so they could playa role of sensible consumers in the future.

Purpose: The purposes of this study was to describe the lived experience structures of married immigrant women with chronic diseases in reorganizing their lives in a variety of situations and contexts. Methods: This study applied grounded theory approach, and the participants were 15 married immigrant women with chronic disease. Data were collected through individual in-depth interviews and then analyzed by the method in Strauss and Corbin (1998). Results: The extracted data were organized 41 concepts, 21 subcategories, and 8 categories. The central phenomenon was determined to be "Life turned into a chronic disease." The causal conditions were "Undergoing physical and mental stress from marriage", "Lack of information on chronic diseases." The extracted contexts was "The demand for health resources." action and interaction strategies, "Finding problems and solutions." The intervention conditions influencing the strategies was "Establishing a support system." The result of such action was "To settle down in a way of life that suits your conditions." Conclusion: By providing a comprehensive and integrative understanding of how married immigrant women with chronic disease reorganize their lives, the study is expected to contribute to the development of social systems and national policies.
The purpose of the present study was to examine daily lives of elderly welfare recipients and their experiences with social welfare services. Researchers collected and analyzed data through individual interviews with 11 elderly welfare recipients. A major theme in the time context was "Daily lives enduring physical and mental sufferings alone and mismatches of social welfare services": 'Starting same tedious days: trading diligent work for basic living assistance', 'Forced ritual of having meals', 'Struggle with depressing night: not attentive welfare services at closing hours', 'Welfare services suspended in holidays', 'Mind and body withered by economic hardship in winter', 'Social support for enduring weary lives'. In the space context, a major themes was "Inadequate welfare services and social interaction in the context of social isolation": 'Unhygienic and unsafe living environment', 'Hiding places: spending tedious days in vacant lots', 'Community welfare centers useful only for healthy elderly', 'Differences and similarities of elderly in urban and rural areas', 'Receiving restricted medical services at hospitals', 'Hard-to-reach public institutions', 'ambivalence about living as welfare recipients'. Based on the findings, the researchers proposed implications for policy and practice to improve elderly welfare recipients' quality of life.

In the year 2013, Warren Buffett was named one of the most influential people of the year by TIME magazine. When people are exposed to such news, they show strong interest in who the influential people are and how those people became so successful. Likewise, people show strong attachment to other prominent figures as well. This social phenomenon indicates that people perceive well-known persona like business leaders, TV stars or sports stars etc. as human brands of intangible assets. As the role of these human brands is becoming more important, people tend to develop stronger attachment toward them. Another notable modern social phenomenon is people's pursuit of life-satisfaction and social well-being. People desire to increase their quality of life by having quality time with family and friends, and also by building attachment towards celebrities, sports stars, and so on. The main objective of this study is to examine how attachment toward human brands affects quality of life. While existing studies on human brands examined antecedents of attachment, e.g., some needs fulfillment such as A-R-C needs (autonomy, relatedness and competence needs) fulfillment, this study focuses on the outcome variables of attachment, e.g., how attachment toward human brands affects stress relief and life satisfaction through self-efficacy. Based on previous research, we divided human brands into two types: heroes and celebrities. Heroes are defined as people who have considerable and lasting importance on both societal and individual levels, and celebrities are defined as people who are well-known but have little or no short-term impact on society and individual levels. This study focuses on how attachment toward each type of human brands, celebrities and heroes, affects the quality of life or well-being. This study focuses on three important outcome variables; stress relief, life satisfaction, and self-efficacy, (three variables) which have been recently gaining importance, especially in the domain of positive psychology. Major findings from the present study show that although celebrities draw attachment from people by providing fun and entertainment or providing stress relief, they have weak influences on the wellbeing or efficacy of individuals at a deeper level. In contrast, attachment toward heroes helps people live better by providing meaning and positively influencing life satisfaction through self-efficacy (Frankl 1997). These results are consistent with the main tenet of 'positive psychology' which seeks "to find and nurture genius and talent and to make normal life more fulfilling" (Seligman and Csikszentmihalyi 2000). Considering the fact that certain celebrities are perceived as heroes to some, we can conclude that celebrities can become heroes if they provide meaning and value to the lives of people. This study contributes to the research stream of human brands since the most current leading research (e.g., Thomson 2006) indicated the need to look at the resulting effect of attachment on life satisfaction through self-efficacy. Another important contribution is that we empirically documented the different effects of celebrities and heroes. As expected, this study shows that heroes more deeply influence the lives of individuals in the long term while celebrities do so rather shallowly in the short term. The issues of the influence of heroes on the individuals' lives need to be further investigated in relation with the perspective of positive psychology.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to explore and describe healing effects of the forest on alcoholics through a forest experience program. Methods: The qualitative data was gathered from one focus group discussion with 6 alcoholics and individual interviews with 8 alcoholics. They had all participated in a "healing forest" program. All interviews were recorded and transcribed according to thematic content analysis processes. Results: The four main themes on the attributes of forest were "a lively living being", "placidity and tranquility", "acceptive atmosphere", and "beautifulness as it is" which revealed the participants' perceived nature of the forest which was attributed to the healing effects. Eight other themes on participants' positive changes included "revived senses", "aspired to live", "relieved and relaxed from being tense", "gaining insight on self", "having an acceptive attitude", "becoming compliant with his/her life", "learning that life is being together" and "recognizing the value of one's existence". Conclusion: The findings of the study illustrated the participants' self-healing processes through interactions with the nature of the forest. Nursing interventions utilizing healing atmospheres such as "healing forest" programs can be considered helpful in providing a venue to alcoholics to reflect on their lives affirmatively.
Although the industrial society gained people with material wealth, they were panic-stricken, felt in lack of everything, not to mention how fast the environment was destroyed. In the midst of this social flow, more and more people who became aware of the problems of the industrial society began to crave happy and beautiful lives through the combination of mental and physical health. This resulted in a new lifestyle called 'well-being'. Lohas, which has become a prominent figure through deep thoughts on social well-being is beyond the persuation of an individual's health and quality of life. Not only does Lohas propose a lifestyle for the mental and physical health of an individual, it also proposes sustainable consumption without hurting the world or the environment. The appearance of the Lohas provided an opportunity not only for people to look in a different aspect on the problems of pollution and ecosystem but to develop and design different products accordingly. Through furniture designs with the idea of lifestyles of health and sustainability applied, this thesis analyses how the main concept of the 3R-Recycle, Reuse, and Reduce is being applied and put to use productively in furniture design.

Many countries around the world have their own standards and are trying hard to preserve those with precious values. And in the case of Modern Architecture, because they are still in use In our daily lives and for the lack of recognition, they are continuously threatened during urban changes and developments. The purpose of the research is not to preserve Modern Architecture as done In the museum, but to seek a way for it to coexist with the changing environments of contemporary cities. Therefore, it is to recognize Modern Architecture as valuable assets, which expresses historicity in urban settings, and to seek the design characteristics of Modern Architecture. This is a process in order to find a new method for conservation of historicity. The result are as followings. Modern Architecture have their design characteristics and these can be applied as a design guideline. Therefore the form, material, and the colors of individual Modern Architecture can be analyzed so as to create a design guideline according to their styles. According to the analysis of Registered Cultural Properties in Seoul, they can be categorized into 6 uses and found the design characteristics of individual uses.
Development of technology in the $20^{th}$ century has made great contributions to women's lives. With the development of digital convergence, home network, and DMBs (Distance Method Bracings), the ubiquitous technology information era is expected to create a new progressive era for women. The purpose of this study is to investigate the lifestyle that Korean women would like to pursue, especially in regards to the sense of value within the personal and social life of each individual. As a method to suggest how the socio-cultural trends of women's lifestyle will change in the ubiquitous era, qualitative interviews have been conducted over 6 groups with 77 persons between the digital ages of 20s and 30s, living in Seoul. The majority had positive opinions regarding the economic, cultural, emotional, and physical prospects of the ubiquitous information environment. Results show high expectations evolved around freedom from household chores, the equality between the sexes (at home and in society), enhancing the working environment at home, an expansion of human relationships leading to creative knowledge, being able to maintain a single life without economic constraints, and the enjoyment that the internet provides. for suggestions to improve the quality of women's lifestyle through ubiquitous technology, issues such as individual based customization, time management, creating emotional hyperspaces, multi-media communication systems, and women as leaders were studied.

The purpose of this study is to suggest the way to improve the life satisfaction of the aged in the institutional household by examing some of factors such as individual, social support and facility that influence their life satisfaction. In the view of statistical results, the level of their life satisfaction is influenced by individual, social support and facility related to factors. First, the level of the aged’s life satisfaction is high when the person has spouse who lives together, has many children, presumes oneself as in healthy and has high-satisfaction of religion. Second, the level of the aged’s life satisfaction is high when the person has good relationship with friends in institutional household and one’s children. And the person whose relative call her or him frequently and she or he is proud of one’s being in institutional household has high-satisfaction of one’s life. Third, the level of the aged’s life satisfaction is high when the person satisfies the quality of food-services and housing services. Finally, the results of in-depth interview show that the person who has financial power, a certain of hobby and one’s role has high-satisfaction of one’s life
