  • The aims of this study are to develop CAI programs for bodice and sleeve pattern drafting for the 3rd grade students in a middle school and to compare the students’achievement degree in using traditional teaching method with that in using CAI programs. On the basis of results above the direction and possibility of using computers in education home economics is another aim. For this study, after the programs are developed, which is on the model of middle school text book, one hundred girl students of 2nd grade of middle school in Songpa Gu, Seoul, who have never given Bodice and Sleep Pattern Drafting lesson are chosen. The students are divided into two groups: one is called comparison group, which is taught by traditional method, the other, experimental group, which is taught by CAI programs. To evalute the learning achivement degree, evaluation test, effectiveness of learning and interest degree test and time test are given. Questionaire investigation about CAI program is given to experimental group. The results of this study are as follows: 1. CAI programs on pattern drafting are developed and can be used in the class. 2. In the tests of achievement degree, of effectiveness, and of interest the experimental group gets higher scores than the comparison group. 3. In the time test about how many students can draft the pattern in a given time, in every step more students in experimental group finished drafting than the comparison group. 4. The students showed interest in CAI programs and played an active part in the using computers. • Establishing greater reliability in property appraisal is critical because it promotes the public interest. Reliability is composed of competence and ethics. In particular, the ethics of property appraisal has individual and corporational aspects. This study aimed to evaluate how the ethical climate of a firm is affected by the scale of appraisal firms, thereby validating the effect of the 'Large Appraisal Firm System'. Hence, the ethical climate of appraisal firms, an indicator of inherent ethical value recognition, was investigated, divided into recognition of social responsibility and exclusion of self-interest. The study results showed that the ethical management systems of appraisal firms encourage the appraisers of such firms to be conscious of their social responsibility and to exclude self-interest in their work. The degree of such influence, however, differs according to the scale of appraisal firms. Based on these results, further research on the maintenance and operation of the ethical management systems of appraisal firms is required to enhance the reliability of property appraisal.

  • With the advent of the Fourth Industrial Revolution modern society demands global convergence talent with expertise. The purpose of this study is to suggest the Person-organizational Fit can be enhanced only when university institutions enhance the learning flow and learning interest of Chinese students. Only when the suitability of Chinese students and Univ. is good will it be of great help to the educational performance and administrative management of international students, and the learning atmosphere and university image can be promoted. However, international students with excessive self-efficacy may have a negative effect on Person-organizational Fit to making it difficult to educate and manage students. On the other hand, for international students with low self-efficacy, the higher the immersion in learning, the higher the individual-organization (Univ) suitability.

  • In this study, we investigated the influences of students' motivational characteristics on the processes of learning density concept using a discrepant event. The participants were 642 seventh graders from two middle schools. Tests of failure tolerance, self-efficacy and mastery/performance goal orientation were administered as pretests. A preconception test was also administered. The intervention was the students' individual study of the density concept with a worksheet that was designed to incorporate the major steps of conceptual change learning. The tests of attention, effort and conceptual understanding were administered as post-tests. The responses of 203 students who had been found to possess the target misconception were analyzed. The results of a path analysis revealed that students' motivational characteristics variables did not influence cognitive conflict. Failure tolerance and mastery goal orientation, however, influenced conceptual understanding via situational interest, attention and effort. Self-efficacy influenced conceptual understanding via effort. Performance goal orientation negatively influenced conceptual understanding via attention and effort. Cognitive conflict influenced conceptual understanding directly as well as indirectly via situational interest.

  • In this paper a heuristic method for identifying individual pipes in water pipe networks to determine specific sections of the pipes that need to be replaced due to deterioration. An appropriate minimum pipe length is determined by selecting the pipe length that has the greatest variance of the average cumulative break number slopes among the various pipe lengths used. As a result, the minimum pipe length for the case study water network is determined as 4 m and a total of 39 individual pipe IDs are obtained. The economically optimal replacement times of the individual pipe IDs are estimated by using the threshold break rate of an individual pipe ID and the pipe break trends models for which the General Pipe Break Prediction Model(Park and Loganathan, 2002) that can incorporate the linear, exponential, and in-between of the linear and exponetial failure trends and the ROCOFs based on the modified time scale(Park et al., 2007) are used. The maximum log-likelihoods of the log-linear ROCOF and Weibull ROCOF estimated for the break data of a pipe are compared and the ROCOF that has a greater likelihood is selected for the pipe of interest. The effects of the social costs of a pipe break on the optimal replacement time are also discussed.

  • It is well known that smoking habit is hazardous to health, especially for juvenile. The present study on smoking behavior of high school students in Seoul has two major objectives. The first objective is to find out the smoking behavior of high school students in Seoul. Toward this objective, individual's smoking experience has been examined as ever smoking and never smoking. The second objective is to determine the variables associated with their smoking behavior at the individual, family and school environment levels. For the data collection, the survey was carried out for the four high schools in Seoul from September 15 through October 15, 1982. The major findings are summarized as follows: 1. Smoking behavior of the students 1) Out of 1,278 respondents, 30.2% of them were found to be current smokers and 29.3% of them were former smokers. This implies that around 60% of school students in Seoul have experienced smoking. 2) A significant differences in the current smoking rates between two types of the school students were shown as 19.3% for day-time school and 42% for night-time school. 3) In terms of the current smoking behavior, the students who don't live with parents were higher in smoking rate than those of the living with parents. 2. Attitudes and knowledge about smoking 1) Attitudes of students toward smoking in high school days were shown that around 17% of them agreed with it and around 64% of them disagreed with it. 2) Around 99% of the respondents answered that their smoking is harmful for health. A source of the information about negative effects of smoking on health was 'Radio and TV' (23.9%) as the most influential, 'school teacher' (20.9%), 'Newspaper' (18.2%) and so on. 3. Behavioral analysis for the current smokers 1) The factors affected for motivation in the first smoking were 'curiosity' (59.7%), 'temptation of friend' (19.7%), 'resistance feeling, (7.1%), 'merely interest and pleasure' (6%) respectively. 2) The time of the first smoking was 'third grade of Junior-high school' (31.5%) as highest, 'first grade of Senior-high school' (23.7%) and 'second grade of Junior-high school' (14.7%). 3) An average daily number of cigarettes consuming of current smokers was seven cigarettes. 4. Family and school-mates influences on individual's smoking behavior 1) The data revealed a significant relationship between student's smoking and their parent's smoking behavior. Around 75% of the students whom both parents are smoking have experienced cigarette smoking. It was found that the individual's smoking behavior was influenced by his sibling. Around 65% of the students whom brothers are smoking have experienced cigarette smoking. 2) The 'Smoking-Index' of friendship network or a group explained individual's smoking behavior in the group. The result of dyad analysis of smoking behavior in the friendship network showed that a high score of 'Smoking-Index' tended to be explained an adoption of smoking behavior at the individual level in the group. on the other hand, a low score of 'Smoking-Index' explained non-smoking behavior in the group.

  • Team-based programming methods are widely applied to solve various difficulties that pre-service teachers experience in the programming lessons. To prepare effective collaboration strategies necessary for them, it is necessary to analyze various collaborative factors that affect learners' programming competencies. Therefore, in this article, a questionnaire survey was conducted by dividing learners' collaboration factors into individual and team competencies, and the relationship between learners' programming competencies was analyzed. As a result of the verification, the program design competency showed significant results in all elements of the learner's personal competency, team techniques such as data sharing skills necessary for collaboration, and team collaboration. It was analyzed that an individual's understanding of learning and team collaboration influenced the program implementation competency. In addition, the group with relatively high team technique showed significant differences in programming competence, interest, and satisfaction. Accordingly, by linking meaningful factors related to individual and team competencies according to the programming process, a collaborative strategy practically necessary for pre-service teachers was suggested.
