  • In general, recognition of Hand written characters requires to apply an algorithm which takes into consideration of the individual differences. Considering the differences, the authors propose a new method for recognizing Hand written Hangul by parallel procedure analyzing both the segments and the structure of the character. In the previous recognition method proposed by the authors two severe restrictions were placed. The element representing consonant/O/ was closed, and the character elements were separated each other. In order to remove these two restrictions, the authors propose an improved algorithm. It is shown that Hangul in its simplified form is well recognized by using this improved algorithm.

  • This study proposes the method to use existing digital maps as one of the technologies to exclude individual differences that occur in the process of manually determining GCP for the geometric correction of KOMPSAT images and applying it to the images and to automate the generation of ortho-images. It is known that, in case high-resolution satellite images are corrected geometrically by using RPC, first order polynomials are generally applied as the correction formula in order to obtain good results. In this study, we matched the corresponding objects between 1:25,000 digital map and a KOMPSAT image to obtain the coefficients of the zero order polynomial and showed the differences in the pixel locations obtained through the matching. We performed proximity corrections using the Boolean operation between the point data of the surface linear objects and the point data of the edge objects of the image. The surface linear objects are road, water, building from topographic map.

  • The tests on the individual cusp inclination of the posterior teeth were performed on the fifty normal subjects selected from the students of Seoul National University, Collage of Dentistry. Especially, bucco-lingual cusp inclinations and open angles were measured by means of the cusp inclination measuring instrument device by authors. The results were as follows; 1. The differences between the right and left side teeth were hardly recognized. 2. In bucco-lingual relationship, lingual cusps in upper molars and buccal cusps in lower molars revealed higher degrees than buccal cusps in upper molars and lingual cussps in lower molars 3. Generally, the differences between upper and lower teeth were not clearly defined, and the cusp angles of the molars were greater than those of the premolars. 4. The rough basis of the curve of Wilson was recognized

  • The objectives of this study were to investigate the individual characteristics, lifestyle habits, exposure levels, and genetic diversity of xenobiotic-metabolizing enzymes involved in toluene metabolism in Korean and foreign workers exposed to toluene at a manufacturing plant. This study was conducted to determine the effects of culture or ethnicity on toluene metabolism. The results showed that blood and urinary toluene concentrations were dependent on the level of exposure to toluene. We analyzed the correlation between toluene metabolism and genetic diversity in glutathione S-transferase (GST) (M1), GSTT1, and cytochrome p-450 (CYP) $2E1^*5$ as well as lifestyle habits (smoking, drinking, and exercise habits). The results revealed significant correlations between toluene metabolism and GSTM1 and GSTT1 genetic diversity, as well as smoking and exercise.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of vibration exercise using surface electromyography. Seven male collegiate wrestlers were participated in this study. Each subject stood on the platform and the vibration was induced for 1min. WEMG8 EMG system was used to record muscle activity from Vastus lateralis, Biceps Femoris, Tibialis Anterior, and Gastrocnemius. The EMG data were sampled for 30 sec. during non-vibration and vibration half squat position, respectively. The raw data were band pass filtered to remove noise and full wave rectified Paired sample t-test were performed to see the differences of maximum and average EMG between non-vibration and vibration trials. The results indicated that vibration produced much more muscle contraction than that of non-vibration trial for all selected muscles even though the significant difference was found only from Biceps Femoris. This phenomenon was due to the individual differences so care must be taken to evaluate vibration intensity and position before personal training.

  • This study was performed to development a dental three-dimensional laser scanning system and measure the accuracy of new adjustable upper dental impression tray. The metal stock, individual, and new adjustable stock trays were used for 30 stone casts(10 casts each) duplicated a resin master model of maxilla. The dental stone was poured in a vinyl polysiloxane impressions and allowed to set for on hour. The master model and the duplicated casts were digitized using an dental scanning system. The distance between the reference points were measured and analyzed on the graphic image of 3D graphic software of CATIA. The statistical significance of the differences between the groups was determined by a two-way ANOVA. There were no significant differences between the accuracies of the adjustable stock tray and the master model except only anterior arch width on the upper arch. The adjustable upper stock tray showed clinically acceptable accuracies of the study cast produced by them.

  • This study is for looking into distinguishing features in child KSL learners' early literacy development. For these, the writings, recording data of dialogue, and observational journals of KSL child learners was collected regularly and the data were analysed. As results, KSL child learners showed lots of writing errors due to difficulty in phonological awareness or letter awareness of Korean language. And they seemed to develop the competence of connecting letters and meanings prior to developing the competence of connecting letters and sounds. Three KSL child learners showed great individual differences in development rate, and it is supposed to be mainly caused from differences of literacy development in their mother tongue, or quantity and quality in exposure for Korean language.

  • What is the basis of the political polarization in Thailand? What are the key differences between the opposing camps? This paper aims to answer these questions at the individual level, using a national survey conducted by the authors between July and August 2017. The paper argues that the color-based polarizations in Thailand are significant and deeply rooted in a complicated array of demographic, attitudinal, and political dimensions. That is, despite their relative differences in demographics and socioeconomic status, the Yellow Shirt and Red Shirt supporters differ in party identification and democratic values. This finding indicates that the struggle between the conflicting groups in this country is not just about competing interests, but about the identities and basic values underlying the "rules of the political game."

  • The learning analytics dashboard (LAD) is a supporting tool for teaching and learning in its personalized, automatic, and visual aspects. While several studies have focused on the effect of using dashboard on learning achievement, there is a research gap concerning the impacts of learners' characteristics on it. Accordingly, this study attempted to verify the differences in learning achievement depending on learning motivation level (high vs. low) and dashboard intervention (use vs. non-use). The final participants were 231 university students enrolled in a basic statistics course. As a research design, a 2 × 2 factorial design was employed. The results showed that learning achievement varied with dashboard intervention and the interaction effect was significant between learning motivation and dashboard intervention. The results imply that the impact of LAD may vary depending on learner characteristics. Consequently, this study suggests that the dashboard interventions should be offered after careful consideration of individual students' differences, particularly their learning motivation.

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze the similarities and differences between motivation and usage according to morphological differences between Facebook and Instagram. The formative differentiation of third-generation SNS such as intuitive image and limited network poses the necessity of recognizing individual service users as distinct groups in SNS research. Therefore, this study was conducted to analyze the differences of motivation and usage, according to the motivation of using Facebook and Instagram by 255 university students. As a result, 7 factors were found as motivation for SNS use, and there were therein motivational differences between Facebook and Instagram users. This study is expected to contribute to the prediction of user's attitude change according to the morphological evolution of SNS in the future, and to expand the application to such related fusion research as GUI design and corporate PR marketing.
