This study is a research to compare efficiency of new cooling system (chiller, pre-cooler) to that of the conventional system at the hydrogen refueling station (HRS). This study includes contents for thermodynamic comparison of cooling system for HRS and comparison of pros and cons of its components. So It is to establish design concept of cooling system of HRS supplying with fuel cell electric vehicle (FCEV). HRS is charging high pressure H2 (700 bar) to FCEV. However cooling system is need to prevent temperature rise in tank. This cooling system consists of pre-cooler and chiller system.

A solid oxide fuel cell (SOFC) based hybrid desiccant cooling system model is developed to study the effect of fuel utilization rate of the SOFC on the reduction of energy consumption and $CO_2$ emission. The SOFC-based hybrid desiccant cooling system consists of an SOFC system and a Hybrid desiccant cooling system (HDCS). The SOFC system includes a stack and balance of plant (BOP), and HDCS. The HDCS consists of desiccant rotor, indirect evaporative cooler, electric heat pump (EHP), and heat exchangers. In this study, using energy load data of a commercial office building and SOFC-based HDCS model, the amount of ton of oil equivalent (TOE) and ton of $CO_2$ ($tCO_2$) are calculated and compared with the TOE and $tCO_2$ generation of the EHP using grid electricity.
This study was investigated to control the corrosion and scale at the cooling water system in steel works. Laboratory and field tests were performed for the indirect cooling water system of plate mill. Throughout the experiment, various factors such as leakage of pipes, heating rate and capacity, and the reaction between existing and substitute inhibitors were carefully monitored. The results showed that the harmful effect of high temperature could be minimized, and satisfactory corrosion/scale controls were effectively achieved using inhibitor, even at the increased temperature of $80^{\circ}C$. The batch and field tests in the gas scrubbing cooling water system of blast furnace and cooling water system of corex plant indicated that the new inhibitor was more effective for the prevention of corrosion and scale than the existing one.
In this study, a comparative analysis between an electric heat pump cooling system and a hybrid desiccant cooling system is conducted. Desiccant cooling is a thermal driven system with potentially lower electric power consumption than electric heat pump. Hybrid desiccant cooling system simulation includes components such as a desiccant rotor, direct and indirect evaporative coolers, heat exchangers, fans, and a heat pump system. Using dynamic simulations by climate conditions, house cooling temperatures and power consumption for both systems are analyzed for 16 days period in the summer season under climate scenarios for the year 2100 prediction. The results reveal that the hybrid desiccant cooling system exhibits a 5-18% reduction in electric consumption compared to the heat pump system.

Previous plastic heat exchangers are expensive because the mold must be newly manufactured depending on the air conditioning space. On the other hand, danpla is so thin that the heat exchange performance is excellent. Moreover, danpla can be used easily in ventilation systems in view of fabrication. This study proposes correlations for the cooling performance of an indirect evaporative cooling system. The experimental apparatus consisted of a heat exchanger, spray nozzle, fan, thermostat, pump, and measuring sensors for temperature, humidity, and airflow rate. The results showed that the effectiveness decreased gradually as the airflow rate increased. In addition, there was an optimal condition in terms of effectiveness. The performance prediction correlations were determined using the experimental data from various conditions. The proposed correlations showed performance accuracies within 4 % error.
Performance of the water direct contact air conditioning system, in which heat and mass are transferred directly between air and water droplet, is simulated by semi-empirical method. This system improves transport efficiency compared to conventional indirect contact system and cooling, heating, dehumidification and humidification are attained with one unit. In this study, temperature and flowrate for air and water are measured in the various cooling and heating conditions, and correlations for $h_{c}A/c_{pm}$ are derived from these data. Cooling and heating characteristics of the water direct contact air conditioning system are investigated using correlations.

The forced cooling system has been widely applied to passing more electric current in the underground power transmission cable technology. In this paper, the optimum cooling span of the in-trough-indirect water cooling method within an electric tunnel was investigated. A parametric study was performed for the cable currents, the coolant flow rates, and the coolant inlet temperatures. As a result, the temperature of the inlet air has been found as the most important parameter in determination of the optimum cooling span.
In the hydrogen refueling station (HRS), it is need the pre-cooling system (PCS) to limit the inside temperature ($85^{\circ}C$) of the onboard thank (700 bar) and to charge the hydrogen at short time (within 3 minutes) to fuel cell electric vehicle (FCEV). From those safety reasons, the temperature of hydrogen gas must be controled $-33^{\circ}C$ to $-40^{\circ}C$ in PCS. The cooling test of the gaseous ($N_2$, He, $H_2$) was carried out using heat exchanger (pre-cooler) by indirect cooling and direct cooling method. It was confirmed that the temperature of hydrogen gas had below $-40^{\circ}C$ at below $-75^{\circ}C$ of chiller temperature in direct cooling.

This study was initiated to improve the cooling water quality by chemical coagulation and sedimentation in steel mills. Due to the inefficient flocculation in the settling tanks of blast furnace cooling water systems, the solid particles in the cooling water overflow accumulate and clog the cooling system. To protect the cooling water system from such fouling, proper flocculants must be continuously used. Laboratory tests were performed for the indirect cooling water system of a plate mill. The batch test in the gas scrubbing cooling water system of a blast furnace showed that the proposed coagulant was more effective for the improvement of coagulation and sedimentation than the existing one. During the tests, cationic flocculants were more effective than use of only an anionic flocculant. The suggested combination of anionic and cationic flocculants can probably improve the turbidity removal efficiency of the cooling water. Proper control of the overflow rate by the designed residence time would help turbidity removal efficiency in the settling tank. In addition, the settling can be enhanced by adopting rapid and slow mixing alternatively. Scale problems in blast furnace cooling water system were reduced to some extent by efficient settling.

The Korean summer is hot and humid, and air-conditioners consume considerable amounts of electricity. In such cases, the simultaneous use of indirect evaporative coolers may help reduce the sensible heat and save electricity. In this study, heat transfer and pressure drop characteristics of indirect or regenerative evaporative coolers made from plastic/paper are investigated. The results showed that heat and mass transfer model based on the ${\epsilon}-NTU$ method predicted the indirect evaporation efficiencies, cooling capacities and pressure drops adequately. Both for indirect or regenerative evaporative cooler, the indirect evaporation efficiency increased with increasing dry channel inlet temperature or relative humidity. The indirect evaporation efficiency of the regenerative evaporative cooler was larger than that of the indirect evaporative cooler.
