동해구 현측식 트롤 어선의 복원성 (The stability of the side trawler operating in East Sea of Korea)

  • Trawlers are divided into stern and side types by the method of shooting and hauling net, but the latter is difficult to find beside Korea. In East Sea of Korea, the side type used to be in early 2000's, but it improved to stern type because of its inefficient operating method. The aims of this paper is to make clear the stability of the side trawler in the East Sea, and then confirm whether it satisfy the IMO rule or not, the degree of the transverse inclining angle of the ship when hauling net at hull side. In results, the stability of the ship in initial inclining range satisfied the IMO rule and the domestic rule, but not satisfied those rule in over the range. The limit load of the ship that was coincide with the angle of beam end in hauling net at side was about 26 tons, 18 tons in normal sea condition and storm warning condition respectively. The transverse inclining angles of the ship in hauling net were much higher from 3.3 to 5.5 times than the longitudinal inclining angle of the stern trawler, although those angles were slightly changed with depending on the loading and sea condition.

  • In residential house, photovoltaic (PV) system among various alternatives in renewable energy system is the most efficient and feasible solution for reducing energy consumption and electricity cost. However, relatively high initial cost make people reluctant to install PV system in their houses. Therefore, in the initial state for PV system installation in the house, it is very important to decide proper capacity of the PV system considering the expected energy usage and solar energy supplying condition with the house. This paper proposes a novel optimization model for deciding appropriate capacity of the PV system for residential house. The objective function of the model is to minimize the annual cost including electricity bill, operation and maintenance cost, and annual fixed cost calculated from the initial installation cost based on capital recovery factor (CRF). The model also shows the optimal inclining angle of PV panels of the system. In this paper, we estimate the PV output using PVWATTS (PV simulator of Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy) and find optimal solutions by Sequential Quadratic Programming (SQP) method using MATLAB software. The proposed approach is finally applied to a residential model house in Gangneung, Gangwon-Do and verified its feasibility for adopting to PV system design for residential houses.

인덕션 집어등을 설치한 갈치채낚기 어선의 복원성능 (Stability of hair-tail angling fishing boat according to the induction fishing lamp installation)

  • In this study, the stability of fishing boat inducing the change of fishing lamp in accordance with the installation of induction lamp in comparison with metal halide lamp was investigated. Inclining test for 8.55 ton class of hair-tail angling fishing boat was performed in order to find a GM and light weight. A stability calculation of the target fishing boat on the basis of KST-SHIP program was evaluated. The stability of the fishing boat with a metal halide lamp such as induction lamp according to the result obtained by the inclining test is slightly different, and the stability is not so much affected. Due to the induction lamp installation, the wind area increased by about 3.178 m2. Before installing the induction fishing lamp, G0M was found to be 0.209 at full load departure and 0.296 at departure from fishing ground. After installing the induction lamp, the full load departure condition is 0.178 and the fishing ground departure condition is 0.260. The G0M value before and after installation of the induction fishing lamp shows a difference of about 3% at the full load departure condition. The value of the critical angle of inclination definition showed a difference of about 16%. Despite these differences, it is lower than the regulations; it was confirmed that there will be no significant difference unless it is in an overloaded state.

  • Symmetric closed-cell type barrier ribs of PDP were formed by capillary molding process using molds prepared by inclined UV lithography process. The effects of inclining angle of barrier ribs on the sintering shrinkage and luminance of panel were examined. The results indicate that the barrier ribs of inclined morphology affect the sintering shrinkage and luminance efficiency significantly.

한국 근해 대형 선망 어선의 복원성 (Stability of the offshore large purseiner in Korea)

  • Marine casualties of vessel are said to be in most case caused by human error, but it would be valid for the assumption that the ship is built with high quality and then should be acceptable to the safety standards. It means that the inherent characteristics of a ship should be the first consideration on the safety of ship. Therefore it is basically necessary for navigator to grasp the inherent stability of his ship and ensure that the ship complies with the minimum statutory standards of stability. This study is to realize the stability of the Korean offshore large purseiner varying with loading conditions by the inclining data and some calculations. The author compared the stability of the ship with IMO criteria and domestic rule, and proposed some improvement for the safety of the ship. The results are summarized as follows ; The values of GM of the ship according to the loading condition in navigation satisfy both of the IMO criteria and the domestic rule, but in case of the area under the GZ curves between the heel angles of $30^{\circ}$ and $40^{\circ}$, and the heel angle occuring the maximum righting lever not satisfy the IMO rule at the fishing ground departure and arrival conditions in the haul in net situation. The initial metacentric height of the ship is very large, but the range of stability and the occurring angle of the maximum GZ are very small, so even small inclining can bring about the beam end. The best method of improvement for that is to increase the freeboard of the model among the variables.

CAE를 이용한 휠 내구성능 동역학 해석을 위한 연구 (The Study on Dynamic Analysis of Durability of a Wheel using CAE)

  • There is a certain limit to reproduce phenomena between the real vehicle and road, since the existing methods to verify durability of the wheel are mostly uni-axial tests. And the change of durability of the wheel can't be predicted since these tests don't consider the camber angle and lateral force as important factors. In this paper, the FE models of the wheel-tire and drum are created. Then, the vertical and lateral loads are applied to wheel-tire assembly and the camber angle is applied by inclining the wheel-tire assembly to the drum. Based on the analysis result, the crack position is predicted to be created in the body of the wheel. The variation of the stress according to the camber angle is verified and the maximum spot of the stress changes continually.

  • 선박이 횡경사 되었을 때, 그 발생 원인을 파악하고 적절히 대응하는 것은 매우 중요하다. 특히 최근 발생한 대형 해난사고 중 일부는 항행중 복원력 감소에 의한 횡경사와 관련된 것으로 추정된다. 본 연구에서는 음의 복원력(-GM)에 의한 선박의 횡경사를 실험하고, 그 값을 동일 조건에서의 계산값과 비교하였다. 또한 Loll과 List를 구별하는 것과 Loll 발생 시 대응방안에 대해서 기술하고자 한다.

  • This paper presents the position tracking control of an inverted pendulum on an inclined railway. In general, inclining the railway leads to errors in the pendulum angle even though the pendulum is stabilized, which results in errors in the cart position. To solve this problem, a linear quadratic regulation (LQR) controller with an integrator is used for compensating the resulting error in the cart position. The proposed method is evaluated by comparing LQR controllers with and without an integrator. Experimental results show that the LQR controller with an integrator is better in performance than one without an integrator.

Class 1000 클린룸에서 편류 개선에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Improvement of Airflow Deflection in a Cleanroom of Class 1000)

  • We performed 3 dimensional numerical study on the improvement of the airflow deflection in the cleanroom of Class 1000, which is presently operated for the manufacturing process in Korea. The Deflection angle and the non-uniformity were investigated to analyze the airflow characteristics and the performance of cleanroom with variations of the cleanroom occupancy state, the filters' arrangement, and the floor return air system. From the numerical results, we found out that the airflow pattern of the cleanroom is more unidirectional and stable in the condition of at-rest than in the condition of as~built. It is due to that the equipments installed in the cleanroom play a role like partitions, which prevent the airflow from inclining toward the recirculation air duct. And it is needed to arrange the filter units parallel to the equipments array without a gap between them for maintaining the unidirectional airflow pattern. Finally, we knew that it is very important to install the partition like the eyelid above the equipment to keep the unidirectional airflow around the equipments and remove the contaminants quickly.

Study on design parameters of leaning-type arch bridges

  • Leaning-type arch bridge is a new spatial structural system composed of two vertical arches and two leaning arches. So far there has been no contrast analysis of leaning type arch bridge with different systems. This paper focus on a parametric study of leaning type arch bridge with different systems to find the influential rules on structural forces and stability and to provide some reference for practical designs. The parametric analysis is conducted with different rise-to-span ratios and bending rigidities of arch ribs by comparing internal forces. The internal forces decline obviously with the increase of the rise-to-span ratio. The bending moments at the centers of the main arches and the leaning arches are sensitive to the bending rigidities of arch ribs. Parametric studies are also carried out with different structural systems and leaning angles of the leaning arch by comparing the static stability. The lateral stiffness of leaning-type arch bridge is less than the in-plan stiffness. Compared with the leaning-type arch bridge without thrust, the leaning-type arch bridge with thrust has a lower stability safety coefficient. The stability safety coefficient rises gradually with the increase of inclining angle of the leaning arch. This study shows that the rise-to-span ratio, bending rigidities of arch ribs, structural system and leaning angles of the leaning arch are all critical design parameters. Therefore, these parameters in unreasonable range should be avoided.
