  • A flow uniformity in a duct cooler of duct system of FGD(Flue Gas Desulfurization) linking a reheater and a absorber has been investigated in the present study. For this purpose, the flow characteristics according to the geometry of a vertical and horizontal vane in a curved duct of the duct system has been examined with the aid of a numerical simulation. The results indicate that the vertical vane with a little deflection toward a recirculation region makes the flow distribution in the duct cooler more uniform than that without deflection, and horizontal vane does not effect the change of the flow distribution for an angle of inclination. The mean flow uniform factor shows its maximum for duct system without the vane(case NP) and its minimum for the vertical vane with a little deflection(case P-0.8-0) .

  • In the past sidetracking was the means to bypass a damaged zone or to correct the direction of a wellbore. Nowadays, this method is very common and useful in relocating the bottom of a wellbore in a more productive zone and consequently enhancing the production of a reservoir by saving a significant amount of time and money. In this paper, the stability of the bend area is assessed considering varied conditions of stress regime and sidetrack orientation. In general, the stress regime and the orientation of the principal stresses have negligible effect on the stability of the sidetrack compared to sidetrack inclination. On the other hand, the sidetrack deviation angle from the vertical main well plays the major role in the stability of the bend area.

  • In case of working for the construction of blocks of any ship in a floating dry dock, there may exist deflection in the pontoon deck of the floating dock due to the ballast loading and the self weight of the ship and the floating dock. This paper is on the development of the measuring system and the GUI program to show the real time variation of the deflections at even-spaced positions by several pressure gages and the calculated inclination of the floating dock. The measured and calculated data produced by this developed system could be used to prepare the protection plan on site like ballast adjustment to ensure the safety of working during the floating dock operation.

  • The accurate measurement for a long bone have taken an important part in orthopedics surgical diseases when the length of extremities is different each other. However, it is true that various kinds of methods to search for the accurate measurement on used in medical centers. In this study, we measured the real length of long bone for CT Scanogram and F.F.D by 100cm and 200cm in the angle of inclination $0^{\circ},\;3^{\circ}$ and $7^{\circ}$. This method will be useful to diagnose and treat patients more accurately.

  • The present investigation is concerned with two dimensional deformation in a homogeneous nonlocal thermoelastic solid with two temperature. The nonlocal thermoelastic solid is subjected to inclined load. Laplace and Fourier transforms are used to solve the problem. The bounding surface is subjected to concentrated and distributed sources. The analytical expressions of displacement, stress components, temperature change are obtained in the transformed domain. Numerical inversion technique has been applied to obtain the results in the physical domain. Numerical simulated results are depicted graphically to show the effect of angle of inclination and nonlocal parameter on the components of displacements, stresses and conductive temperature. Some special cases are also deduced from the present investigation.

  • The effects of the inclined perforated baffles on the distributions of the local heat transfer coefficients and friction factors for air flows in a rectangular channel were determined for Reynolds numbers from 23,000 to 57,000. Four different types of the baffle are used. The inclined baffles have the width of 19.8cm, the square diamond type hole having one side length of 2.55cm, and the inclination angle of $5^{\circ}$, whereas the corresponding channel width-to-height ratio was 4.95. Results show that the heat transfer and friction factor depend significantly on the number of baffle holes and Reynolds number. The friction factor decreases with increasing Reynolds number and the number of holes on the baffle, and the heat transfer performance of baffle type II (3 hole baffle) has the best value.

  • In response to the industrial needs for automated handling of very thin solar cell wafers, this paper presents the design concept for the individual wafer separation from the stacked wafers by utilizing continuous water jet. The experimental apparatus for automated wafer separation was constructed and it includes the water jet system and the microprocessor controlled wafer stack advancing system. Through a series of tests, the performance of the proposed design is quantified into the success rate of single wafer separation and the rapidity of processing wafer stack. Also, the inclination angle of wafer equipped cartridge and the water jet flowrate are found to be important parameters to be considered for process optimization. The proposed design shows the concept for fast and efficient processing of wafer separation and can be implemented in the automated manufacturing of silicon based solar cell wafers.

  • In order to perform a precise wave tank experiment, it is necessary to maintain the incident wave generated by the wavemaker in a steady state and to effectively remove the reflected waves. In this paper, a combined sloping-wall-type punching plate wave absorber was proposed to attenuate reflected waves effectively in a two-dimensional mini wave tank. Using the four-point reflection separation method, the reflected waves were measured to determine the reflection coefficients. Experiments were conducted under various punching plate porosities, sloping plate angles, and incident wave conditions to evaluate the performance of the combined punching plate wave absorber. The most effective wave absorbing performance was achieved when the porosity was 10% and the inclination angle of the punching plate was 18.6° under the present condition. It was also found that the installation of the sloping plate could improve the wave attenuation performance by generating the shoaling effect of the incident wave.

  • In present research, we have considered transversely isotropic magneto thermoelastic solid with two temperature and without energy dissipation due to inclined load. The mathematical model has been formulated using Lord-Shulman theory. The Laplace and Fourier transform techniques have been used to find the solution to the problem. The displacement components, stress components and conductive temperature distribution with the horizontal distance are computed in the transformed domain and further calculated in the physical domain using numerical inversion techniques. The effect of rotation and angle of inclination of inclined load is depicted graphically on the resulting quantities.

  • The energy harvesting system using an inverted flag is analyzed by using an immersed boundary method to consider the fluid and solid interaction. The inverted flag flutters at a lower critical velocity than a conventional flag. A fluttering motion is classified into straight, symmetric, asymmetric, biased, and over flapping modes. The optimal energy harvesting efficiency is observed at the biased flapping mode. Using the three different machine learning algorithms, i.e., artificial neural network, random forest, support vector regression, the energy harvesting efficiency is predicted by taking bending rigidity, inclination angle, and flapping frequency as input variables. The R2 value of the artificial neural network and random forest algorithms is observed to be more than 0.9.
