The purpose of this investigation was to locate the central plane of the image layer on the panoramic machine relative to a specific point on the machine. In the study of the central plane of the image layer of panoramic radiograph, using the Morrita Company PANEX-EC a series of 33 exposures were taken with the 4-5 experimental pins placed in the holes of the plastic model plate, then evaluated by human eye. The author analyzed the central plane of the image layer by Mitutoyo-A-221 and calculated horizontal and vertical magnification ratio in the central plane of the image layer determined experimentally. The results were as follows: 1. The location of the central plane of the image layer determined experimentally was to lateral, compared with manufactural central plane. 2. Horizontal magnification ratio in the central plane of the image layer determined experimentally was 9.25%. 3. Vertical magnification ratio in the central plane of the image layer determined experimentally was 9.17%.

Vibration analysis of a rigid body supported by in-parallel linear springs can be greatly simplified by utilizing the conditions for a plane of symmetry. The vibration modes of an oscillatory system having plane of symmetry are classified into the in-plane and out-of-plane modes. From the viewpoint of screw theory, they represent respectively the vibration axes perpendicular to the plane of symmetry and lying in the plane of symmetry. In this paper, the sets of orthogonal and mutually intersecting three springs are used as resilient support of a rigid body. The geometrical conditions for the system to have a plane of symmetry and diagonalized stiffness matrix are presented. From the orthogonality of the vibration modes with respect to the inertia matrix, the geometrical relation between the reaction wrenches and the vibration modes are derived. This geometrical relation is then used to get the cubic design equation for the design of out-of-plane modes. The numerical design example of engine mounts is presented in order to explain the suggested design technique.

PURPOSE: This study was to determine the effect of the plane of movement (sagittal plane vs. scapular plane) and shoulder flexion angle ($90^{\circ}$ vs. $130^{circ}$) during scapular protraction exercises in healthy subjects by investigating the elecromyographic (EMG) activities of the serratus anterior (SA), upper trapezius (UT), and pectoralis major (PM). METHODS: Twenty-one healthy subjects participated in this study. Subjects performed maximal scapular protraction at the $90^{\circ}$ or $130^{\circ}$ shoulder flexion angles in the sagittal or scapular planes. Surface EMG was recorded from the SA and UT, and PM muscles. Dependent variables were examined by 2 (plane) ${\times}$ 2 (angle) repeated measures of analysis of variance (ANOVA). RESULTS: Significantly increased EMG activities in the SA and UT were found during scapular protraction exercise at the $130^{\circ}$ shoulder flexion angle in the sagittal and scapular plane. Also, EMG activity of the PM significantly decreased at the $130^{\circ}$ shoulder flexion angle in the sagittal plane and the $90^{\circ}$ and $130^{\circ}$ shoulder flexion in the scapular plane. CONCLUSION: we recommend scapular protraction exercise at the $90^{\circ}$ shoulder flexion in the sagittal plane to selectively strengthen the SA muscle with limitation of upper trapezius activity and at the $130^{\circ}$ shoulder flexion in the scapular plane to selectively strengthen the SA muscle with limitation of pectoralis major activity.

A linearly polarized folded type and H-shape slit folded type microstrip patch antenna at GPS(center frequency:1.575 GHz) were designed and fabricated by folding a conventional single $\lambda_{g}/2(\lambda_{g}:wavelength)$ rectangular patch a half along the length direction at the center of patch and inserting ground plane in the middle. As a result, two types of omnidirectional radiation patterns for E-plane (for zx-plane) in the direction of the length of patch and H-plane (for xy-plane) have been acquired. The experimental results show that the average gains of folded type and slit folded type for omnidirectional E-plane and H-plane are -1.5 dBd (-2.4 dBd) and -3.27 dBd(-2.5 dBd). Slit folded type microstrip patch antenna was more miniaturized than folded type microstrip patch antenna by 27.5 %. In case of slit folded type antenna, average gains of omnidirectional radiation pattern for E & H-plane are almost same.
Taxicab plane geometry and Cinese-Checker plane geometry are non-Euclidean and more practical notion than Euclidean geometry in the real world. The ${\alpha}$-distance is a generalization of the Taxicab distance and Chinese-Checker distance. It was first introduced by Songlin Tian in 2005, and generalized to n-dimensional space by Ozcan Gelisgen in 2006. In this paper, we studied the isoperimetric inequality in ${\alpha}$-plane.
The purpose of this study was to investigate the angle formed by the Sella-Nasion(SN) plane and Frankfort-Horizontal(FH) plane and evaluate the correlation and difference of the FH plane to other horizontal reference planes. Through this study we hope to present a basis for selecting a horizontal reference plae which can be implemented in cephalometric studies and in surgical orthodontic treatment planning. 600 subjects were chosen following a clinical examination md lateral cephlometric X-rays were taken. According to cephalometric analysis the subjects were classified into 3 groups , Skeletal Class I malocclusion or normal occlusion group(male 50, female 50), Skeletal Class II malocclusion group(male 50, female 65) and Skeletal Class III malocclusion group(male 50, female 50). The results were as follows. 1. The angle formed by the SN plane and FH plane showed no difference among the malocclusion groups, but there was a significant sex difference. For males the angle measured was $7.47^{\circ}{\pm}2.40^{\circ}$ whereas for females it was $8.93^{\circ}{\pm}2.72^{\circ}$. 2. The angle formed by the SN plane or FH plane and Mandibular plane was higher in females for all malocclusion groups. This angle in the Skeletal Class I malocclusion group was lower than in the other two groups. 3. There was no difference among the sexes or malocclusion groups considering the angle formed by the FH plane and Palatal plane. 4. The genial angle in the Skeletal Class III malocclusion group was higher than in the Skeletal Class I and Class II malocclusion groups in both sexes.

Measurements of linear motion accuracy for one axis of NC lathe have achieved with laser interferometer system, but measurement of plane motion accuracy for two axes on zx-plane of NC lathe have not achieved with the above system. Therefore in this study, measuring unit system is organized using two optical linear scales in order to acquire error. data during of plane motion of ATC(Automatic Tool Change.) of NC lathe by reading zx-plane coordinates. Two optical linear scales of measuring unit are fixed on zx-plane of NC lathe, and moving part of the scales are fixed to the ATC and then error motion data of z, x-coordinates of the ATC are received from the scales through the PC counter card inserted in computer at constant time intervals using tick pulses coming out from computer. And then, error motion data files acquired from measuring are saved in computer memory and the aspect of plane motion are modeled to plots, and range of the error data, means. average deviations, and standard deviations etc. are calculated by means of statistical treatments using computer programs.
This study was designed to analyse vertical dysplasia such as open bite or deep bite in persons with skeletal Class III malocclusion. The subjects consisted of 60 control patients, 40 Class III open bite patients and 40 Class III deep bite patients. The mean age was 19.8 years in the control group, 17.8 years in the Class III open bite group and 16.5 years in the Class III deep bite group. The results were as follows: 1. In Class III malocclusion patients, the characteristics of the vertical dysplasia are under the palatal plane. 2. In Class III malocclusion patients, the items showing the characteristics of the vertical dysplasia are mandibular plane angle, lower gonial angle, lower facial height, dental height & inclination of the upper first molar, interincisal angle, maxillary & mandibular occlusal plane angle. 3. In Class III malocclusion patients, LPFH/LAFH ratio shows the highest significance among the facial height ratios. 4. In Class III malocclusion patients, open bite group has a upward cant of maxillary occlusal plane & downward cant of mandibular occlusal plane. And deep bite group has a downward cant of maxillary occlusal plane & upward cant of mandibular occlusal plane. 5. In Class III malocclusion patients, the molar teeth of the open bite group are measially inclined and those of the deep bite group are upright.

An automatic mesh generation system with unstructured quadrilateral elements on trimmed NURBS surfaces has been developed.. In this paper, NURBS surface geometries in the IGES format have been used to represent model shape. NURBS surface is represented as parametric surface. So each surface could be mapped to a 2D parametric plane through the parametric domain. And then meshes with quadrilateral elements are constructed in this plane. Finally, the constructed meshes are mapped back to the original 3D surface through the parametric domain. In this paper, projection plane, quasi-expanded plane and parametric Plane are used as 2D mesh generation plane. For mapping 3D surface to parametric domain, Newton-Rhapson Method is employed. For unstructured mesh generation with quadrilateral elements on 2D plane, a domain decomposition algorithm using loop operators has been employed. Sample meshes are represented to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm.
