In this paper we investigate the properties of a generalized impulse response Gramian. The recursive relationship satisfied by the family of Gramians is established. It is shown that the generalized impulse response Gramian contains information on the characteristic polynomial of a linear time-invariant continuous system. The results are applied to model reduction problem.

If a point impulse travels over free surface of water of finite depth, surface waves consist of divergent waves. The crestlines of those divergent waves are short and end on the cusp line if the impulse travels at a subcritical speed. But the crestlines become infinitely long and there are no cusps if the impulse travels at a supercritical speed.

The impulse impedence of grounding system must be accurately evaluated for a safe grounding design. However, a calculation nettled of the impulse impendence of a horizontal grounding electrode has not been established yet. This paper presents a method to compute the impulse impedance of a rod type grounding electrode and deals with the analysis of the transient characteristics on the electrodes.

Purpose: The study was undertaken to investigate effects of decision making competency, nursing professionalism and job satisfaction on turnover impulse, and identify factors contributing to turnover impulse among nurses. Methods: The study was a descriptive study with 231 nurses from 4 general tertiary hospitals participating. Data were collected during March, 2013 using a structured self-report questionnaire. Decision making competency, nursing professionalism, and job satisfaction were measured with validated instruments, and turnover impulse was measured with one question using a 5-point Likert scale. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, t-test, one-way ANOVA, Pearson correlation coefficients and multiple regression. Results: The significant predictors of turnover impulse among nurses were professionalism (${\beta}$=-0.18, p=.015) and job satisfaction (${\beta}$=-0.18, p=.009). These variables explained 12% of the variance in turnover impulse among nurses. Conclusion: The results indicate that nursing managers need to put efforts in improving nurses' job satisfaction and to develop plans to increase nursing professionalism in order to reduce nurses' turnover impulse.

This paper aims to examine the possibility of using an environmentally friendly $N_2$ as an alternative gas to $SF_6$. For this purpose, we have investigated breakdown characteristics of $N_2$ under impulse voltages in a quasi-uniform electric field gap. The 1.2/50[${\mu}s$] lightning impulse voltage, switching impulse voltages and oscillatory impulse voltages were applied at the test gap. The electric field utilization factor ranges from 0.5 to 0.8. The experimental data of $SF_6$ and $N_2$ acquired in the same experimental condition are presented in parallel for comparison. As a result, the breakdown voltages in $SF_6$ and $N_2$ are linearly increased with the gas pressure, also the breakdown voltages in $N_2$ are increased with increasing the gap distance and electric field utilization factor. The positive breakdown voltages are higher than the negative breakdown voltages. The nagative basic lightning impulse withstand level of 150[kV] in $N_2$ of about 0.5[MPa] is nearly equal to that in $SF_6$ of 0.15[MPa]. It is seen from the results obtained in this work that $N_2$ can be used as an eco-friendly alternative gas to $SF_6$ in distribution power equipment.

This paper describes the degradation properties of ZnO surge arresters impressed by lightning impulse currents. To investigate the deterioration behaviors of ZnO surge arresters due to lightning surges, the 8/20[${\mu}s$], 2.5[kA] standard lightning impulse currents were injected to the ZnO surge arrester under test. The power frequency AC and DC leakage currents flowing through the ZnO surge arresters with and without the injection of lightning impulse currents were measured. As a result, the leakage currents are increased and the asymmetry of the AC leakage current is pronounced as the number of injection of the impulse current increases. The ZnO grain of the surge arrester without the injection of lightning surges are uniform but the ZnO grain of the ZnO surge arrester with the injection of lightning impulse currents are deformed. Also, it was found that the decrease of the $Bi_2O_3$ due to the lightning impulse current leads to the lack of grain boundary layer and the current concentrated by the lack of grain boundary layer play an important role to degrade nonlinear property of ZnO surge arrester blocks.

The nerve impulse pattern of Chorda tympani(CT) of cat was tested with Monosodium glutamate(MSG) solutions as well as some basic taste substances applied on the tongue of cat. The effect of MSG applied in the tongue prior to the stimulation of other taste substances was also investigated. The response impulse frequency of CT of cat was changed by the kind and concentration of taste substances. The response to citric acid was the highest among the tested substances, NaCl, KCl and MSG showed similar responses. When different concentrations of MSG were applied on the tongue prior to other substances, the response to NaCl increased with the maximum response at the MSG concentration of 0.02 M. The response to sucrose tended to be reduced, but the response to citric acid was distinctly supressed by the previous MSG stimulation. These results were well consistent with the sensory evaluation on the effect of MSG to some basic taste substances. previously reported by the authors.

Hydrolysis properties of ginseng saponins in processing of extraction with vacuum impulse system extraction method were compared with multi-stage extraction methods. Crude saponin content of the extract produced by vacuum impulse system extraction method was $11.5\%,$ compared with multi-stage extraction method (about $8.13\%).$ Also the yield of the extract increased about $6.7\%.$ The flavor and aroma of ginseng extract with vacuum impulse system extraction method are stronger than multi-stage extraction methods and people have a tendency to like more. The color was similar to existing extraction items and the liquidity ratio was high. Vacuum impulse system extraction method could save human resources because of short extraction time and automatic operation of processing. With HPLC pattern, We could ascertain the truth that hydrolysis properties of ginseng saponin was restrained in the extraction processing, vacuum impulse system extraction method.

The purpose of this research was to study four impulse buying dimensions and planned buying, marketing stimulus factors in store, buying im-pulse and impulse buying of female consumer. The female consumers were divided into three groups, i.e., college students, housewives and workingwomen. 408 women living in Kyung Nam were selected as respondents by convenience sampling methods. The results of this research can be summarized as follows. 1. The overall impulses were stronger for college students and workingwomen than house-wives. The impulse buying dimensions were different according to the status of women. 2. Buying impulse and impulse buying of clothing were more likely to be for college students and working women than housewives. 3. The display in the store gave the information to the three groups equally. These infor-mations helped to make the impulse buying. 4. The marketing stimulus factors were different according to the status of respondents. Sensitive and aesthetic factors were important for college students and workingwomen, and the utility of clothing were important for house-wives. The color of clothing, the discount of regular price and the low price had the same meanings to the three groups. 5. Impulse buying dimensions were effected by the marketing stimulus factors. 6. The fashionable products, the use of credit card, famous brand, gracious display of clothing and the kind services of salesman were the common factors that stimulate the consumer to buy the clothings. But the color and design of products had more effect on the college students, and the discount of regular price and the utility of clothing were more important for the workingwomen. The color and the utility of clothing were stimulus factors for the housewives.

In this paper, detection based - adaptive windowed nonlinear filters(DB-AWNF) are proposed for removing one-side impulse noise in infrared image. They are composed of impulse detector and window-size-variable median filters. Impulse detector checks whether current pixel is impulse or not using range function and nonlinear location estimator. If impulse is detected, current pixel is filtered according to four kinds of local masks by use of median filter. If not. current pixel is delivered to output like identity filter. In qualitative view, the proposed could have removed heavy corrupted noise up to $20\%$ and reserved the details of image. In quantitative view, PSNR was measured. The proposed could have 13 - 31[dB] more improved performance than those of median($3{\times}3$) filter and 18 - 25[dB] more improved performance than those of median($5{\times}5$) filter.
