A Qualitative Study on Job Satisfaction of Dental Hygienists with Low Experience

  • Background: Job satisfaction of dental hygienists has been discussed continuously in dental hygiene research. It has been the most representative performance variable in dental and human resource management. However, in quantitative research, most of the studies have analyzed the causal relationship with variables related to dental hygienists' job satisfaction. The existing qualitative research contains only the studies that targeted dental hygienists with an experience of more than 10 years. The present study aimed to understand and to characterize the job satisfaction of dental hygienists with an experience of 2 to 10 years and to compare it with the qualitative research on dental hygienists with an experience of 10 or more years. Methods: An in-depth interview of dental hygienists with 2 to 10 years of experience working in 10 dental clinics was conducted. For data analysis, Giorgi's analysis method was used. Results: After analyzing the meaning of job satisfaction of dental hygienists, 180 semantic words and 19 subcategories were derived. The results of the interview were categorized into for central meanings: recognition and rewards, work experience and ability improvement, occupational characteristics, and work characteristics. Recognition and rewards included workplace recognition, patient recognition, self-effort and recognition, and the feeling of being rewarded. Work experience and ability improvement included various work experiences and factors relates to improving the work ability. Occupational characteristics included professional job, interest and persistence, job extensibility, and no burden of employment. Work characteristics included working conditions and separation of work and private life. Conclusion: The development of tools to measure the level of dental hygienists' job satisfaction after long-term service and to conduct follow-up research regarding ways and effects to improve job satisfaction is needed.

사회적기업 근로자의 직무불안, 직무만족, 고객과의 관계가 재직 의도에 미치는 영향 (Assessing the Impacts of Job insecurity, Job satisfaction and Relationship with customers on Intention of Retention of Employees in Social Enterprises)

  • 사회적기업은 사회적 미션에도 불구하고, 급변하는 글로벌 환경에서 경제적 성과 목표에도 응해야 한다. 이러한 상황은 인적자원관리 전략이 중요한 역할을 지님을 의미한다. 특히 경쟁력있는 효율성을 유지하기 위한 과제는 근로자 이직을 낮추는데 달려 있다. 본 연구는 사회적기업 근로자를 대상으로 재직 의도에 영향을 끼치는 직무불안, 직무만족, 고객과의 관계의 영향력을 검증하고자 한다. 조사 대상은 서울 경기 지역의 36곳의 사회적기업 여성 근로자 271명으로 삼았고, 이항로짓회귀분석(Binominal Logistic regression)을 적용하였다. 연구결과, 사회적기업 근로자의 재직 의도는 상당히 긍정적인 수준으로 높게 나타났다. 하지만 사회적기업 근로자의 직무불안정성은 재직 의도에 부정적인 영향을 끼치는 반면 직무만족과 고객와의 관계는 재직 의도에 긍정적인 요인으로 밝혀졌다. 결론적으로 사회적기업의 지속가능성을 위한 근로자의 근속 유지를 위해서는 인적자원 관리가 중요한 역할을 할 수 있음을 밝히고 직무 환경 개선을 위한 관리적 함의를 도출하였다.

국내 작업환경측정기관의 측정 및 분석장비 보유실태에 대한 고찰 (II) (Evaluation of the Possession of Measurement and Analytical Instruments in Domestic Work Environment Monitoring Service Providers (II))

  • Objectives: The aim of this study is to analyze the current status of possession of measurement and analytical instruments at work environment monitoring organizations and their relationships with human resources, including the number of professional engineers and evaluation scores resulting from evaluation programs in 2012. Materials: Data for measurement and analytical instruments were gathered by inspectors who had been assigned by the Korea Occupational Safety and Health Agency(KOSHA) and the Ministry of Employment and Labor(MoEL) during the evaluation program for 2012. Data for 11 monitoring instruments and nice pieces of analytical equipment were collected from 103 organizations. Additional data such as the type of service provides and the number of professional engineers employed were also recorded by the inspectors. Evaluation scores could be acquired from KOSHA. Results: Comprehensive Occupational Health Service Providers showed good operation quality, while University or Hospital Subsidiary and Work Environment Monitoring Organizations recorded relatively poor results. Evaluation scores correlated well with the possession of measurement instruments and human resources for each organization. High yields provided by professional engineers also showed statistically-associated contributions to evaluation scores and monitoring instrument possession. Compared with monitoring instruments, the amount of analytical equipment had little positive impact on organizations' competence. Conclusions: The evaluation results for domestic monitoring organizations revealed that human resources, possession of instruments, and the quality of employees were critical factors for operating the corporations. Each organization should give considerable effort to improving their ability to strengtheninternal quality, resulting in high-yield production for workers and employers by providing improved workplace monitoring services.

신체활동수준과 스트레스수준에 따른 Vitamin-D 결핍률에 관한 직군별 비교분석연구: 2008~2013년 KNHANES 데이터 분석을 중심으로 (Comparative Analysis of the Effect of Physical Activity and Stress Experience on the Vitamin D Deficiency according to Occupations: results from KNHANES dataset for 2008~2013)

  • 본 연구의 목적은 신체활동수준과 스트레스 수준에 따른 직군별 Vitamin D 겹필률 차이를 조사하기 위함이다. 본 연구는 KNHANES 2008~2013 데이터를 이용하여 실증연구를 수행하였다. 이를 위해서 교차분석, 로지스틱분석을 사용하였으며, 스트레스의 간접효과 분석을 위해서 SOBEL 테스트를 사용하였다. 분석결과 Vitamin D 결핍은 옥외활동이 많은 직군에서 상대적으로 낮게 나타났다. 또한 신체활동수준이 높을수록 결핍률이 낮게 나타났다. 스트레스는 신체활동수준을 매개변수로 하여 Vitamin D 결핍에 영향을 미치고, 스트레스가 높을수록 Vitamin D 결핍이 높은 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 분석 결과 옥외활동이 많은 사무종사자 등의 직군에서는 근무자가 주기적으로 햇볕에 노출될 수 있도록 해야 하며, 이를 위해서 신체활동수준을 향상 시킬 수 있다면 적절한 해결책이 될 수 있는 것으로 파악되었다. 또한 직장 내 스트레스를 관리하기 위하여 근로자의 신체활동 수준을 유지하는 것도 고려될 필요가 있다.

여성 사무직 근로자의 건강에 영향을 미치는 요인 (The Factor Influencing Health Status among Female Office Workers)

  • 본 연구는 제5차 근로환경조사 자료(2017)를 사용하여, 여성 근로자의 건강 상태와 그 잠재적 영향 요인들간의 관계를 분석하였다. 본 연구의 목적은 여성 사무직 근로자들의 건강 상태에, 직장 관련 요인과 가정 관련 요인이 어떠한 영향을 미치는지 규명하는 것이다. 이를 위해 사무직에 근로하는 여성 근로자 3,115명의 데이터를 활용하여 로지스틱 회귀분석을 시행하였다. 로지스틱 회귀분석 결과, 여성 근로자의 건강상태에는 근로자의 연령, 근로자의 고용상태, 근무환경에 대한 전반적인 만족도, 직장 동료의 성별 비율, 경제적 부담 정도, 육아에 부담 정도, 가사에 대한 부담 정도가 유의미한 영향력을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 분석결과에 근거하여, 본 연구에서는 관련된 몇 가지의 정책적 그리고 학문적 함의를 제시하였다. 현재 여성의 경제활동 참여가 눈에 띄게 활발해지면서, 여성 근로자의 수는 시간이 갈수록 점점 더 증가하고 있는 상황이다. 조직내 여성 근로자들에 대한 건강 상태가 개선된다면, 조직의 생산성 또한 향상되어질 수 있을 것이다. 따라서, 여성 근로자들에 대한 적절한 건강 관리는 조직 자원에서 필수적으로 이루어져야 할 필요가 있다. 더불어, 여성 근로자들의 건강 증진을 위한 실질적인 정책적 방안 또한 모색되어야 할 필요성이 있다.

직무불안성성과 EVLN과의 관계에 있어서 조직방해인식의 매개효과에 관한 연구 (The research about mediating effect of perceived organizational obstruction in the relationship with job insecurity and EVLN)

  • 본 연구의 목적은 직장인의 직무불안정성과 EVLN과의 관계를 확인하고 이 과정에서 조직방해인식의 매개 효과를 규명하는데 있다. 본 연구의 실증분석을 위해 직장인 및 온라인 설문조사 사이트를 통해 350명을 대상으로 설문조사가 실시되었으며, 본 연구의 결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 직무불안정성은 조직방해인식에 정(+)의 영향을 미치고, 직무불안정성과 조직구성원의 불만족 반응행동인 EVLN 중에 이직과 발언, 태만간의 관계에서 정(+)의 영향을 미치는 것으로 확인되었고, 충성심에는 유의한 영향을 미치지않는 것으로 나타났다. 또한 조직방해인식이 직무불안정성과 EVLN간에 매개효과를 분석한 결과 이직, 발언, 태만과의 관계에서 부분 매개효과를 보였다. 실무적 시사점은 직무불안정성이 높아진 최근 조직에서 구성원들에게 직무불만족 행동을 더욱 강화하는 매개변인으로서 조직방해인식이 중요하며 이에 대한 관리방안을 모색해야한다는 시사점을 제공한다.

Establishing a Policy Framework for the Primary Prevention of Occupational Cancer: A Proposal Based on a Prospective Health Policy Analysis

  • Background: Despite our knowledge of the causes of cancer, millions of workers are involuntarily exposed to a wide range of known and suspected carcinogens in the workplace. To address this issue from a policy perspective, we developed a policy framework based on a prospective health policy analysis. Use of the framework was demonstrated for developing policies to prevent cancers associated with diesel engine exhaust (DEE), asbestos, and shift work, three occupational carcinogens with global reach and large cancer impact. Methods: An environmental scan of existing prospective health policy analyses was conducted to select and describe our framework parameters. These parameters were augmented by considerations unique to occupational cancer. Policy-related resources, predominantly from Canada, were used to demonstrate how the framework can be applied to cancers associated with DEE, asbestos, and shift work. Results: The parameters of the framework were: problem statement, context, jurisdictional evidence, primary prevention policy options, and key policy players and their attributes. Applying the framework to the three selected carcinogens illustrated multiple avenues for primary prevention, including establishing an occupational exposure limit for DEE, banning asbestos, and improving shift schedules. The framework emphasized the need for leadership by employers and government. Conclusion: To our knowledge, this is the first proposal for a comprehensive policy framework dedicated to the primary prevention of occupational cancer. The framework can be adapted and applied by key policy players in Canada and other countries as a guide of what parameters to consider when developing policies to protect workers' health.

히스토그램 변환을 사용하여 정확도를 향상시킨 외관 Vision 검사 방법 (Visual Inspection Method Which Improves Accuracy By using Histogram Transformation)

  • 각종 전자 제품 및 부품의 외관 검사는 인간의 시력에 의해 이루어졌다. 외관 검사는 LCD Panel, flexible PCB 및 다른 여러 가지 전자부품에 적용되어진다. 전자 제품의 외관검사를 사람의 시력에 의존할 경우 작고 미세한 전자 제품은 검사자의 신체와 정신에 따라 검사 결과가 변화하기 때문에 안정적인 결과를 기대 할 수 없다. 머신비전 시스템은 이러한 문제가 발생되지 않는다. 따라서 머신 비전 시스템은 현제 여러 외관 검사 분야에서 사용되어지고 있다. 하지만 머신 비전 시스템에 의한 자동 검사는 작업장의 조명에 의한 영향을 많이 받는다. 본 논문에서는 이러한 영향을 극복하기 위한 방법으로 히스토그램변환을 이용한 머신비전 검사의 정확성 향상 방법을 제안한다.

Occupational Health Protection for Health Workers in China With Lessons Learned From the UK: Qualitative Interview and Policy Analysis

  • Background: Healthcare settings have been recognized among the most hazardous places to work. Based on the five categories of occupational hazards that were identified by the ILO and WHO, this study aimed to analyze policy framework relevant to occupational health protection of health workers (HWs) in public health service in China, then discussed how to share the experience of the National Health Service (NHS) England for improvement. Methods: Based on policy learning theories, policy analysis and qualitative interview were used in this study. Results: In the Chinese public health service, at least five laws related to the regulation of occupational health protection for HWs; however, enforcement of relevant laws was separated and multi-centered; the national monitoring system, which targeted to occupational hazards and health outcome for HWs in China, had yet to be developed; the top three priorities were workplace violence, bloodborne pathogens, and musculoskeletal disorders; national strategies included Security Hospital, and Healthy China 2030. In NHS England, three laws were fundamental; several monitoring systems had been set up, including NHS Staff Survey, Commissioning for Quality and Innovation incentive scheme; mental health, musculoskeletal problem, and nutrition disorder and overweight were raised great concern; Health and Safety, and NHS Healthy Workforce Program were critical nationwide strategies. Conclusion: There were several similarities as well as differences between the Chinese public health system and NHS England, which laid foundation of learning by China. Recommendations of improving occupational health policies in China were provided, based on the lessons learned from the NHS England.

병원 영양부서의 급식 및 임상영양 서비스의 중점관리 요인 (Task Analysis on Foodservice , Clinical Nutrition Service in Hospital Dietetic Departments)

  • The purpose of this research was to analyze the tasks on foodservice ․ clinical nutrition service in hospital dietetic departments. A survey of 30 hospital food and nutrition service departments was undertaken and detailed informations were collected from each, including surveys of 176 dietitians and 30 foodservice managers. Statistical data analysis was completed using the SAS/win 6.11 package for descriptive analysis and t-test. The results of this study can be summarized as follows : Regarding dietitian's training period, 38.6% dietitians answered that they spent 1~2 years in mastering food service management. 28.4% dietitians replied that they needed 2~3 years in learning clinical nutrition management. It was shown that 48.9% dietitians were engaged in food service management, while 26.7% were engaged in clinical nutrition and 26.7% were engaged in both. The 13 elements of food service management showed low performance level. These elements were food temperature, food intake, menu selection, contaminated substances and serving mistake and reliance on hospital food. These should be controlled with caution. The average score of dietitian's life satisfaction within the work place was 3.42 out of 5. The most dissatisfactory element was physical environment of the workplace. 5 elements for improving nutrition service activities showed low performance level with high importance score. Problem analysis showed low difference score between importance and performance level. Hospitals under contract foodservice management received higher points on clinical nutrition performance(P<.05) than hospitals under self-operated foodservice management.
