After World War II, modular housing was developed as a means of quickly and efficiently meeting the housing supply demand. For the past 30 plus years, efforts have been made to improve modular housing in South Korea and to increase their competitiveness in the housing market. This study investigated modular houses based on a steel framed rahem structure which provides a flexible floor plan where walls are easily reconfigured to create rooms of various sizes and functions. Similar to the factory production methods used in the automotive industry, the modular housing industry can also benefit by standardizing such aspects as building components, manufacturing and construction methods, materials, process management, and floor plans. This study examined the feasibility of using a 3m × 3m module for developing various floor plans which are easy to produce and transport. Each 3m × 3m module can be configured to meet different living needs resulting in a complete home when multiple modules are connected. The module configurations can be varied to meet ground transportation and crane limitations. This study found that a 3m × 3m steel framed modular unit is a promising step towards providing residents with plans that meet their living preferences while improving and increasing the supply of modular houses.

Facility management is to maintain and develop the primary structural, functional, aesthetic performance of facility in order to guaranty the users' daily convenience and safety. However it is hard to maintain and serve their intended function and safe environment from the beginning as times go by. As present educational government of city and local area has been performing formally facility check and management as well as maintenance of school facility, it is hard to respond a dangerous situation at the suitable time and safety prevention plans are delayed. In addition, educational environment improving budget have been unreasonably decided not according to the allocating criteria. Therefore, this research developed a same, simple, and quantitative evaluation method of deterioration level of elementary, middle, and high School in Korea and verified usability of the method through the case study.
The land cover map represent the state of earth surfaces. It can be used as basic data to explore present conditions of earth surfaces and develop future plans for local areas. To produce the land cover map with efficiency, gathering geographic information from satellite images is important. Exporting, building, and managing processes on the land cover information are needed as well. In this study we aim to review the producing process of the level-2 land cover map in detail and enhance it. h present status of the producing process of the land cover map in Korea is reviewed, problems of the process are explored, and measures for improving it are proposed. The criteria for fixing boundaries and providing attributes for the land cover map are proposed. This proposed criteria may solve problems in a present producing process. The improving measures proposed in this study should be continuously revised in future studies.
The purpose of the present study was to investigate the longitudinal relationship between main caregivers' life satisfaction and depression and self-esteem of school-aged children, and to provide plans for improving the lives of the school-aged children. For this purpose, we analyzed the three years'longitudinal panel data (2011-2013) of the Korean Children and Youth Panel Survey (KCYPS) including 2,342 first grade elementary school children employing the latent growth model using SPSS 18.0 and AMOS 22.0. Analysis results were as follows. First, main caregivers'life satisfaction and school-aged children's depression increased as time passes and linear change model was selected. Second, the initial status of main caregivers'life satisfaction had effects on the initial status of their children's depression, but initial status and rates of change of life satisfaction did not have an influence on the rates of change of the depression. However, it was found that the main caregivers' life satisfaction had effects on the school-aged children's self-esteem and it worked as a mediator on the longitudinal relationship between the main caregivers'life satisfaction and the children's depression. School-aged children's self-esteem was a partial mediator on the initial status of their depression and full mediator on these rates of change. These findings suggests that programs improving school-aged children's self-esteem should be developed.
Natural lighting is directly connected with our mental and physical health. For working or learning effect, the proper natural lighting is required for improving our living conditions. School facilities, especially, are the place where includes students' ordinary activities with learning behaviors during the school years from elementary to high school. This study was carried out for the purpose introducing a basic database in that planning a school by researching on the actual in the natural lighting system of some schools' classroom, estimating, and analyzing through a simulation, which resulted in a method of improving the natural lighting system. As a result of measuring and analyzing Daylight Factor(DF) during the time from 9 am to 3 pm when students are activating in their classroom, generally DF range of the sides near to window and aisle seats zone are not distributed well. Besides, two out of four school which are researched would not reach the standards of the law for school sanitary while rest of the schools meet the standards; Average DF 5% and Minimum DF 2%. And the result of a simulation by RADIANCE program shows the most appropriate DF range when it is applied in variable numbers about an oriehows the- South-east 15, south-east 30, south-east 45, south-west 15, south-west 30, and south-west 45 degrees. When it is applied in the variable numbers about glass transmittance - 60%, 70%, and 80% in condition facing south of a classroom, the result shows that the DF range of 80% transmittance is relatively higher than other glasses in the classroom. Thus, when a school is built, plans for an orientation is necessary for improve of elementary schools' environment with the glass installation which is made for high transmittance and is regarded with the students' activities time.

Mobile Agent has been known that it is an efficient communication paradigm for distributed applications and that a mobile agent provides higher flexibility and performance than existing communication paradigms. Despite these benefits, mobile agent is not used widely in the market because it is very vulnerable to a variety of attacks. To be applied to develop distributed applications, a mobile agent paradigm must consider both security and performance. In this paper, we propose and evaluate an improving method of a migration performance for a mobile agent model using ISM(Integrated Security Manager), which provides high-level security services and travel plan guide. In the proposed method. ISM offers the travel plan guide service which replies the accumulated results when a mobile agent has executed all migration plans related the trusted domain to be managed by ISM. Our method improved about $33{\sim}82%$ of total execution time than the existing method.
Background: Dental treatment has shifted to the center of the community, and the public policy of the country has expanded to support the vulnerable classes such as the disabled. The dental profession needs education regarding oral health services for persons with disabilities, and it is necessary to derive the competencies for this. Therefore, we conducted this study to derive the normative ability to understand the role of a dental hygienist in the oral health service for persons with disabilities and improvement plans for education. Methods: We conducted a qualitative analysis for deriving competencies by analyzing the data collected through in-depth interviews with experts in order to obtain abilities through practical experience. Based on the competency criterion, relevant competency in the interview response was derived using the priori method, and it was confirmed whether the derived ability matched the ability determined by the respondent. Results: The professional conduct competencies of dental hygienists, devised by the Korean Association of Dental Hygiene, consists of professional behavior, ethical decision-making, self-assessment skills, lifelong learning, and accumulated evidence. Also, core competencies of the American Dental Education Association competencies for dental hygienist classification such as ethics, responsibility for professional actions, and critical thinking skills were used as the criterion. The dental hygienist's abilities needed for oral health care for people with disabilities, especially in the detailed abilities to fulfill these social needs, were clarified. Conclusion: To activate oral health care for people with disabilities, it is necessary for dental hygienists to fulfill their appropriate roles, and for this purpose, competency-based curriculum restructuring is indispensable. A social safety net for improving the oral health of people with disabilities can be secured by improving the required skills-based education system of dental hygienists and strengthening the related infrastructure.
This study investigates the problems of welfare decentralization reform implemented by Roh Mu-Hyun Administration and examines a policy direction for improving the decentralization. The reform has caused various problems. Local governments have suffered from heavy financial burden. Some social services, devolved into local governments, have not adequately provided as before. In addition, fiscal disparity among localities has increased. To deal with these problems, experts have proposed several plans, such as restoring the devolved programs to national subsidy programs, inventing a new social welfare grant, or introducing block grants. This study suggests that some of the devolved welfare programs should be restored to the national subsidies, since they cannot be maintained properly by local governments. Also, we need to adjust financial responsibilities between the central and local government in the national subsidy programs. Introducing block grant can be one satisfying solution to enhance local autonomy while maintaining the financial responsibility of central government. In some national subsidy programs, the financial contribution by the central government should be increased to alleviate financial burden of local governments.

Up-to-date manufacturing companies have faced a market-driven environment of pull production order. There should be a difference in operating manufacturing resources according to the type, quantity, and delivery time of manufactured products, because the process situation in pull production is changed by customer orders. And it should be taken into account from the stage of preparing for production such as process design and the placement and utilization of manufacturing resources. However, the feasibility of production plans is limited because most of small manufacturing businesses make production/supply plan of the parts and products assuming that equipment abilities in scheduling is sufficient without managing process standard information systemically. In this study, a discrete event simulation system based on BOM (bill of material), that is F-OPIS (online productivity innovation system), is introduced and a case study on application of the system leading to improving productivities is presented. F-OPIS deals with a decision-problem on production management and it is specialized for small-and- medium sized manufacturing companies. The target company of this case study is a typical small-and-medium sized manufacturing company in Korea, that produces various machined parts. The target company adopts make-to-stock production management to prevent tardy delivery because of fluctuations in demand. Therefore, it is required to apply an efficient inventory control solution for improving productivities. In this paper, based on the constraints of working capacity of manufacturing resources, the bottleneck process is analyzed as production conditions are changed. Consequently, an improvement plan is proposed, that eventually enhances overall utilization rates of resources in the bottleneck process and reduces overall production lead-time and inventory level.
The purpose of this study is to investigate the influences of science leading schools on primary and middle school students' positive experiences about science (PES) through in-depth interviews with teachers in charge of science leading schools. Science leading schools at the primary and middle school level such as Creative Convergent Science Labs and Student Participatory Science Classes were investigated and 11 teachers were participated in focus group interviews. Teacher in-depth interviews were conducted to explore the factors that led to the effectiveness of science leading schools in improving the student's PES in light of operational characteristics of science leading schools, characteristic factors of science leading schools on students PES, and improvement plans and requirements of science leading schools, as well as implications for general high schools. Science leading schools including Creative Convergent Science Labs and Student Participatory Science Classes applied for the leading school funding to secure supplies, equipments, and lab improvement for authentic science classes. In addition, reconstructed the curriculum more broadly than before, and emphasized and expanded student participatory classes and process-centered assessment at the teacher learning community level. Through student-participatory classes, the science leading schools stimulate students' interest in science, provide students with PES) through various instructions including projects, engage students in interesting science experiences in Creative Convergent Science Labs, and enhance inquiry skills and PES as well as science content knowledge. Based on the results, ways to spread the characteristics of science leading schools to general schools are suggested including expanding budget support, securing the space of science labs and improving spatial composition, providing diverse teaching and learning materials, diversifying assessment subjects and methods, and the necessity of teachers' continuous professional development, etc.
