Improved Feature Selection Techniques for Image Retrieval based on Metaheuristic Optimization

  • Content-Based Image Retrieval (CBIR) system plays a vital role to retrieve the relevant images as per the user perception from the huge database is a challenging task. Images are represented is to employ a combination of low-level features as per their visual content to form a feature vector. To reduce the search time of a large database while retrieving images, a novel image retrieval technique based on feature dimensionality reduction is being proposed with the exploit of metaheuristic optimization techniques based on Genetic Algorithm (GA), Extended Binary Cuckoo Search (EBCS) and Whale Optimization Algorithm (WOA). Each image in the database is indexed using a feature vector comprising of fuzzified based color histogram descriptor for color and Median binary pattern were derived in the color space from HSI for texture feature variants respectively. Finally, results are being compared in terms of Precision, Recall, F-measure, Accuracy, and error rate with benchmark classification algorithms (Linear discriminant analysis, CatBoost, Extra Trees, Random Forest, Naive Bayes, light gradient boosting, Extreme gradient boosting, k-NN, and Ridge) to validate the efficiency of the proposed approach. Finally, a ranking of the techniques using TOPSIS has been considered choosing the best feature selection technique based on different model parameters.

Study on the influence of Alpha wave music on working memory based on EEG

  • Working memory (WM), which plays a vital role in daily activities, is a memory system that temporarily stores and processes information when people are engaged in complex cognitive activities. The influence of music on WM has been widely studied. In this work, we conducted a series of n-back memory experiments with different task difficulties and multiple trials on 14 subjects under the condition of no music and Alpha wave leading music. The analysis of behavioral data show that the change of music condition has significant effect on the accuracy and time of memory reaction (p<0.01), both of which are improved after the stimulation of Alpha wave music. Behavioral results also suggest that short-term training has no significant impact on working memory. In the further analysis of electrophysiology (EEG) data recorded in the experiment, auto-regressive (AR) model is employed to extract features, after which an average classification accuracy of 82.9% is achieved with support vector machine (SVM) classifier in distinguishing between before and after WM enhancement. The above findings indicate that Alpha wave leading music can improve WM, and the combination of AR model and SVM classifier is effective in detecting the brain activity changes resulting from music stimulation.

Significant radiologic factors related to clinical outcomes after arthroscopic rotator cuff retear repair

  • Background: Healing of the tendon itself is not always related to successful clinical outcomes after rotator cuff repair. It was hypothesized that certain radiologic factors affecting clinical outcomes could exist in case of the retear after arthroscopic rotator cuff repair (ARCR) and the radiologic factors could help predict clinical process. The purpose of this study was to identify the radiologic factors associated with clinical outcomes of the retear after ARCR. Methods: Between January 2012 and December 2019, among patients with sufficient footprint coverage for ARCR, 96 patients with Sugaya classification 4 or higher retear on follow-up magnetic resonance imaging were included. The association between clinical outcomes such as American Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons (ASES) score, Constant score and range of motion and radiologic variables such as initial tear dimension, retear dimension, variance of tear dimension, critical shoulder angle, acromial index, and acromiohumeral distance was analyzed. Results: Preoperatively, the ASES and Constant scores were 59.81±17.02 and 64.30±15.27, respectively. And at the last follow-up, they improved to 81.56±16.29 and 78.62±14.16, respectively (p<0.01 and p<0.01). In multiple linear regression analysis, the variance of the mediolateral dimension of tear had statistically significant association with the ASES and Constant scores (p<0.01 and p=0.01). Conclusions: In patients with the retear after ARCR, the variance in the mediolateral dimension of tear had significantly negative association with the clinical outcomes. This could be considered to be reference as relative criteria and needed more sample and mechanical study.

A study on Digital Agriculture Data Curation Service Plan for Digital Agriculture

  • 본 논문에서는 다출처 농업 데이터를 통찰할 수 있는 지식체계를 마련하고, 시간 흐름을 가지는 환경인자 분석 정보를 클러스터링 할 수 있는, 농작물 환경 인자 큐레이션 서비스 방법을 제안한다. 제안하는 큐레이션 서비스는 크게 수집, 전처리, 저장, 분석의 네 단계로 구성된다. 첫째, 수집 단계에서는 OpenAPI 기반의 웹크롤러를 이용하여 다출처 농업 데이터에 대한 수집 및 정리를 수행한다. 둘째, 전처리 단계에서는 데이터 측정 오차를 감소시키기 위해 데이터 평활화를 수행한다. 이때 온실, 노지 등의 시설 특성에 따른 오차율을 고려하여 시설 유형별 평활화 방법을 적용한다. 셋째, 저장단계에서는 대용량 농업 데이터 관리를 위해, 농업 데이터 통합 스키마 및 Hadoop HDFS 기반의 저장 구조를 제안한다. 마지막으로 분석 단계에서는 농업 디지털 데이터의 시계열 특성을 고려한 DTW 기반의 시계열 분류를 수행한다. DTW 기반 시계열 분류를 통해 시계열 데이터의 특성을 손실 없이 반영하여 예측 결과 정확도를 향상시킨다. 향후 연구로는 제안한 서비스 방법을 구현하여 스마트팜 온실에 적용하고, 테스트 및 검증을 수행할 예정이다.

  • 지금까지 이러닝 소프트웨어 평가에 관한 다양한 연구가 진행되었으나 관련 표준에 따라 체계화된 형태가 아닌 연구자의 시각에서 제시된 분류에 따라 주관적인 평가 기준을 구성하고 있다. 또한 소프트웨어 평가 관련 표준도 실질적인 활용을 위해 지속적으로 보완되고 있으므로 이에 부합하는 평가 기준의 마련을 통해 평가 근거의 확보 및 체계화가 절실하다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 이러닝 소프트웨어의 품질평가 기준을 구축하기 위해 소프트웨어 제품평가 표준인 ISO/IEC 25000 시리즈의 품질특성 중 사용성에 관한 체계를 근간으로 하고 이러닝 소프트웨어의 품질 요구사항을 분석하고 체계화하여 사용성의 부특성에 따른 평가 기준을 구축하였다. 본 평가 기준은 지속적으로 변화하는 관련 최신 표준화 동향을 반영한 이러닝 소프트웨어 평가기준을 구축하여 실질적인 활용도를 제고했다는 점에서 차별화된다. 향후 이러닝 소프트웨어의 품질평가 및 인증에 효과적인 활용이 가능할 것으로 사료된다.

적응적인 학습을 위한 텍스트 마이닝 기술 (Text Mining Techniques for Adaptable Learning)

  • 지금까지 이러닝 시스템을 통해서 학습 능력을 향상시키는 기술이 많이 나와 있다. 대부분의 이러닝 시스템에서 학습자들은 강의 자료와 학습문제를 통해서 학습을 한다. 그러나, 때로는 학습자간의 자료공유나 토론을 통해서 학습능력과 학습 의욕을 향상시킬 수 있다. 이 경우에 일반적으로 게시판을 통해서 학습 자료를 공유하거나 MSN과 같은 메신저를 사용하여 학습자들끼리 토론 및 자료를 공유한다. 하지만, 이와 같은 형태의 학습 공유 유형은 학습 자료가 주제별로 분류되어 있지 않기 때문에 학습자가 관련 자료를 검색하는 일이 쉽지 않다. 그 결과 학습에 크게 도움이 되지 않는다. 대부분의 텍스트 마이닝 기술은 문서데이터의 집합으로부터 요약 데이터를 추출하거나 유사한 문서의 집합을 분류하는 기술이다. 따라서, 본 논문에서 학습자가 학습능력을 향상시킬 수 있도록 이러닝 시스템에 텍스트 마이닝 기술을 적용하여 효과적으로 이러닝 자료를 분류하여 학습자에게 도움이 되는 시스템을 구현하고 평가하였다.

사이즈 적합성과 효율성이 향상된 야구 다리보호대 개발을 위한 그레이딩 편차 선정 (Selection of Grading Deviations to Develop Improved Baseball Leg Guards for Size Suitability and Efficiency)

  • Baseball is a life sport that gives vitality to people. However, currently available leg guards do not have a variety of sizes and it is very difficult to purchase a leg guard that is suitable for the size of a specific consumer. Therefore, this study investigated the size system of a leg guard sold in the market and suggested a grading deviation suitable for the legs of Korean males. The results of the study were as follows. First, most brands were sold only in three size systems as children's, teenagers, and adults. Adult size systems were not subdivided. Second, Korean male legs were classified into Group 1 (large girth and height and lower body muscle) and Group 2 (small girth and height and low underbody muscle). Third, the size system is based on vertical items such as height and mid-thigh circumference. Each group produced 10 sizes. The smallest height or the largest height was also found to be about 4.5 to 5.0cm smaller or larger than the sample size for each group. The total length of the leg guard was about 2.5cm when the height was increased or decreased by one size. It was confirmed that the deviation of the circumference of the mid-thigh should be about 2.0cm larger or smaller than the sample size even if the height is the same. The deviation of the knee circumference and ankle circumference was smaller than the other circumference. In conclusion, the dimension combinations of the leg guard must be set differently to provide a leg guard with high size suitability according to leg type.

화학물질 유해성 평가를 위한 정보의 작성 및 활용 (Development and Use of Data for Chemical Risk Assessment)

  • The new chemicals are developed and circulated without the verified toxicity data. So, the accidents and occupational diseases, such as explosion, fire, suffocation about deadly poisons etc. are frequently to workers. Classifications of chemicals suited with guideline and an offer of correct chemical information data are the molt important thing for the establishment of suitable chemical management system. The GHS (Globally Harmonized System of classification and labeling of chemicals) is based with the chemical classifications and unification plan. The warning symbol and phrases are established for improvements of chemical information data system. According to these unified and improved systematic form of data, and the chemical information data, the workplaces will be presented many chemical safety and risk data correctly. In this paper, we will present constructions and accomplishment contents-based chemical management of workplace through development of chemical information data and the nice using for new chemical investigation and risk assessment of chemicals in workplaces.

병원의 비정규직 고용정책과 경영전략 (Employment Policy & Strategy of Irregular Workers in Hospital)

  • The objectives of this study were to inspect how the law effected on hospital employment system and which policy and strategy are needed to cope with the present situation as the law regarding irregular workers law has enacted for a year. To grasp the changes of employment style in hospital, 56 hospitals among 311 general hospitals were questioned in this study. And employment policy and strategy were developed by referencing examples of developed nations and other industries. The survey showed that the wage and welfare level of irregular workers in hospitals was improved compared to that in the other industries. But there were still much discrimination between regular and irregular workers. The policy direction of government is, first of all, to follow the principle of equal treatment to equal value of labour. The first feasible policy is to enforce social security. The second one is an employment promotion policy which reduces or exempts hospitals employing irregular workers from tax and insurance fee. The third one is to extend employment contract period to 3 years. and finally there are policies to permit more dispatched jobs and to expand the social insurance coverage. The strategies to solve the problem of irregular workers are as follows; 1) performance wage system, 2) guaranteeing employment by unlimited contract, 3) creating new category of workers, 4) the wage system of management by object, 5) the method of job classification. This study has a meaning in the point that it was studied on hospital which is special industrial part and analyzed the changes after enacting irregular workers law and presented management strategy for countermeaure program. In this study, it was expected to contribute to decisions-making in hospital management, especially when using human resources.

알약 인식을 위해 색 특징정보를 이용한 CBIRS/TB (CBIRS/TB Using Color Feature Information for A tablet Recognition)

  • 본 논문은 일상적으로 많이 복용되는 알약의 오남용을 막기 위해 알약 대한 정보를 내용기반 인식을 통해 검색하고자 하는데, 이때 알약의 색 특징 정보와 모양 특징 정보를 이용하여 내용기반 검색을 하는 CBIRS/TB를 제안한다. 기존 FE-CBIRS에서는 색상과 모양에 대한 정보를 추출하여 영상을 구분하는 특징정보로 적용하는 문제점이 있다. 즉 검색시 적용하는 물체의 색상 특징 정보는 색상, 채도, 명도의 각각에 대한 평균, 표준편차, 왜도를 사용하며 부분영역을 특징정보로 적용하는 경우 대표색상만을 적용하는 문제점이 있다. 또한 모양특징정보의 경우 추출된 부분영역들에 대한 불변모멘트가 주로 사용한다. 이로 인한 처리시간의 문제, 정확성의 문제점이 있다. 따라서 본 논문에서 이를 개선하기 위한 방법으로 추출된 영상의 색상 특징정보들을 클래스별로 구분하여 인덱싱하여 검색속도와 정확도를 향상시켰다.
