Method: This study used a descriptive design. The participants were 142 families of patients with terminal cancers from 7 hospice institutions from 6 cities in Korea. Data collection was conducted from January 21 through July 31 of 2017 using self-reported questionnaires. Data were analyzed by descriptive statistics, t-test, analysis of variance, the Pearson correlation coefficient, and multiple regression analysis using the SPSS/WIN 18.0 program. Results: Quality of life was positively correlated with spiritual well-being (r=.49) and negatively correlated with burnout (r=-.59). Spiritual well-being was negatively correlated with burnout (r=-.49). Factors influencing the quality of life were burnout, perceived health status and spiritual well-being, which explained 44% of the variance. Conclusion: The findings of this study indicate that it is necessary to develop a nursing intervention program that can improve the quality of life of family members of terminal cancer patients considering burnout.

  • Purpose : This study aimed to identify the factors influencing the professional quality of life of intensive care unit (ICU) nurses working in university hospitals. Methods : A survey was conducted on 171 ICU nurses in university hospitals in B City, South Korea. This study used the Professional Quality of Life instrument, which consists of three subscales, namely, compassion satisfaction, burnout, and secondary traumatic stress. Data were analyzed using stepwise multiple regression analysis. Results : Compassion satisfaction was influenced by resilience, ICU job satisfaction, and innovation-oriented culture, and these variables explained 37.1% of the variance in compassion satisfaction. Burnout was influenced by resilience, a hierarchy-oriented culture, and ICU job satisfaction, and these variables explained 42.9% of the variance in burnout. Secondary traumatic stress was influenced by a task-oriented culture and resilience, and these variables explained 12.5% of the variance in secondary traumatic stress. Conclusion : These findings suggest the importance of improving resilience and job satisfaction to enhance the professional quality of life in ICU nurses. Moreover, creating an innovation-oriented culture rather than a hierarchical and task-oriented culture can effectively improve the professional quality of life of ICU nurses.

Questionnaires were used to me-asure pretest and posttest levels of depression, quality of life and resilience. A blood test was used to analyze changes in Total T cell, T helper, T suppressor, Th/Ts ratio, Total B cell, T cell/B cell ratio and NK cell for immune responses. Results: The results showed that laughter therapy was effective in increasing the quality of life and resilience in breast cancer survivors. but depression and immune responses did not differ significantly between the groups. Conclusion: The results of the study indicate that laughter therapy may be an effective nursing intervention to improve quality of life and resilience in breast cancer survivors.

Methods: The participants consisted of consecutive patients with ALS who visited the neurology outpatient department from January to July, 2008. To collect the data, face-to-face interviews were applied at S national university hospital in Seoul. Using multivariate analysis, factors to predict QOL in ALS patients including demographic factors, functional independence, depression, anxiety, social support and quality of life were analyzed. Results: The final analysis included 69 patients. The mean score for the physical health and mental health components was $34.4{\pm}21.3$ and $44.7{\pm}20.6$, respectively. The mean score for the ALS functional rating scale was $24.3{\pm}10.8$ out of 40. Anxious and depressed patients accounted for 44.9% and 71%, respectively. Quality of life in ALS patients was significantly affected by functional independence, depression and anxiety level. Conclusion: To improve the quality of life in ALS patients with declining functional independence, comprehensive interventions are necessary to manage depression and anxiety.

It also explored differences in the quality of family life based on variables such as family relationships, family income, gender, disability type, and age. Methods: A survey was administered to 69 family members of individuals with developmental disabilities who regularly participate in physical activities. The collected data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, independent samples t-test, and one-way analysis of variance. Results: The average overall quality of life for families of individuals with developmental disabilities who participate in continuous physical activities was 3.49. After analyzing each subtype, psychological health was found to be 3.91, the burden for people with developmental disabilities was 2.75, community participation was 3.76, cohesion was 3.83, and openness was 3.49. No statistically significant differences were found in family relationships or family classes, disability type, age, or gender of the individuals with developmental disabilities across the variables. Conclusion: When planning service development and support to improve the quality of life for families of individuals with developmental disabilities, it is necessary to develop systematic programs at the family level rather than providing support based on various variables.

  • Purpose : Middle school students in the early stages of adolescents need balanced growth and development, and they are in the process of forming healthy lifestyles and are in an important period when they need to lay the foundation for a healthy life through active health management and guidance. Through systematic health-related policies and education, I intend to lay the groundwork for them to form healthy lifestyles in their high schools and adulthood. Methods : For this study, a survey was conducted from September 1 to October 30, 2019, and 300 middle school students based in Busan Metropolitan City were surveyed. Based on the analysis and results of preceding studies, a research model was set up to find out the effect of family support, health control activities and self-efficacy on health promoting behaviors and how health promoting behaviors affect the quality of life. Results : First, if family support is high, health promotion behavior and quality of life are analyzed to be high, so family support is affecting health promotion behavior and quality of life. Second, health control behavior had a significant effect on health promotion behavior, but did not affect the quality of life. Third, self-efficacy was having a significant effect on health promotion behavior and quality of life. Fourth, health promotion behavior was affecting the quality of life. Conclusion : In order to improve the quality of life, middle school students should first increase their health promotion behavior, and it is important to be supported by their family members and strengthen their self-efficacy as variables that increase their health promotion behavior. First of all, they should be given the infinite trust of the family and the strong belief that the family always supports them, and based on this, the student himself will be able to strengthen his or her self-efficacy. In addition, the process of physical and mental change of students comes to everyone, but during this process, members of society, such as families and schools, should send them support and trust so that they can grow up to be the decent members of society.

  • Purpose: This descriptive study was to investigate the quality of life in patients with hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT) from June 1 to October 13, 2007. Method: The survey was conducted in 6 different university hospitals which located in Seoul and Jeollanam-do province using the Functional Assessment of Cancer Therapy-BMT Scale (FACT-BMT) version 4. We collected a total of 155 questionnaires and analyzed 149 among them. Results: The average score of quality of life was 2.53 out of 5. Physical well being score was highest among sub-domains, followed by emotional well-being, additional concerns, social/family well-being, and functional well-being. Study subjects worried that their conditions would get worse. However study subjects didn't regret having been received HSCT. Age, duration from HSCT, age at diagnosis, income, readmission, HSCT type, educational background, marital status, and the level of activities of daily living were related to quality of life. Conclusions: The findings of this study indicates that the HSCT survivor's quality of life issue is still important and have to be investigated repeatedly in the future. That is necessary for generalizing QOL outcomes for clinical use. We also suggest to develop interventions to improve QOL.

  • It is very important that reduce the maintenance cost and extend life time of the urban transit EMU through effective maintenance method research. The maintenance cost of the urban transit EMU shares 60%~70% of it's life cycle cost. It means that the maintenance cost is bigger than the introduction cost of the urban transit EMU. In this study, I introduces a quality control technique to improve the urban transit vehicle reliability. I suggest the control chart using quality control technique. And the control charts apply to the Static Inverter of EMU.
