  • Dental impression materials often become contaminated with patients' saliva and blood which creates the potential for cross-infection. It was the purpose of this study to investigate the effects of disinfection of three different rubber impression materials with four different disinfecting solutions. Polysulfide, vinyl polysiloxane and polyether impression materials were mixed according to the manufacturer's directions and samples were formed on a stainless steel model. On removal from the standard model, impressions were immersed in a disinfectant (acid-potentiated glutaraldehyde, phenollic compound, chlorine compound, iodophor) at room tempera tures for ten minutes. After disinfection, the distance between reference points(linear dimension) was measured using the non-contact automatic cordinate measuring projector(MZ-1, Nikon). Through statistical analyses on the data from this study,. the following conclusions were obtained. 1. Polysulfide, vinyl polysiloxane impressions were disinfected without dimensional change.(p>0.05) 2. Polyether impressions which were immersed in acid-potentiated glutaraldehyde were statistically different from control group.(p<0.05) But the amount of shrinkage(0.04%) would not be clinically significant. 3. By immersion of polysulfide, vinyl polysiloxane, polyether impressions in Banicide, Biocide, Multicide plus, sodium hypochlorite for ten minutes, clinically accurate impressions were obtained without dimensional change.

  • This study was designed to investigate the fitness of stock tray in Korean adults. 107 dental students (male: 87, female: 20) who have normal occlusion and symmetric facial fom were selected. The upper and lower stock tray (Osungtray, Osung Co., Korea) fit with dental arch were selected for taking irreversible hydrocolloid impression. The author measured the thickness of impression material about two items, that is, width and length on the flange of stock tray. Several measuring points on the dental arches and palatal area were checked with Goldman Fox prove (Hu-Friedy, U.S.A.). The obtained results were as follows: 1. The width of impression material on buccal flange of upper and lower trays were narrower than any other measuring point, but the thickness of impression material on the palatal area of upper stock tray was the widest of all measuring points. 2. The length on buccal flange of lower stock tray was shorter, but the length on tray flange of lower stock tray at lingual frenum area was longer. 3. On upper dental arch, the upper extra-large tray was used in 53% of subjects, but upper small tray was not used. 4. On lower dental arch, the large tray was used in 55% of subjects. 5. There was not adequate tray on upper dental arch in 4 subjects.

  • Purpose: This study was done to analyze the effect of supervisor-focused impression management behavior of the airline cabin crew on perceived customer empathy. It focused on verifying dual meanings of the crew's emotional expression divided into surface acting and deep acting. Research design, data and methodology: The survey was conducted on cabin crews of two major Korean airlines. The reliability and validity of each variable used in the questionnaire were verified. Then, each hypothesis was analyzed through multiple regression analysis. Results: Firstly, the crew's supervisor-focused impression management behavior had a significant effect only on surface acting of the crew's emotional labor behavior. Among the crew's supervisor-focused IM behaviors, verbal IM behavior had a greater influence on surface acting than non-verbal IM behavior. Secondly, there was no relationship between the crew's supervisor-focused IM behavior and the crew's deep acting. Thirdly, the crew's emotional labor behavior (surface acting & deep acting) had a significant effect on perceived customer empathy. Fourth, the crew's deep acting had a greater influence on perceived customer empathy than surface acting. Conclusions: Cabin crews receive double evaluation from their immediate supervisors and customers. As a result, it was confirmed that the crew's supervisor-focused IM behavior, the crew's emotional labor behavior, and perceived customer empathy were connected process.

  • The purposes of the study were 1) to extend the cognitive categorization theory in an attempt to explain the of garment category, fashionability, and wearer's body types on impression formation, and 2) to find out structures of wearer's impressional dimension and wearer's professional image. The research included a quasi-experiment and survey. The experimental design was a $2^{3}$full factorial design of 3 independent variables. The experimental materials developed for the study were a set of stimuli and a response scale. The stimuli consisted of 8 drawings made by 3 independent variables (garment category, fashion level, wearer's body type). Result were as follows: 1) Garment category, fashionability and wearer's body type had significant effects on impression of the 5 factors-evaluation, potency, appearance, sociability and good-bad, with exception of wearer's body type which was nonsignificant to the potency factor. 2) Garment category was most effective on the evaluation and the potency. However wearer's body type was most effect on the appearance factor and fashionability variable was most effective on the good-bad factor. It was conclued that the results supported the cognitive categorization theory on impression formation and a cognitive categorization hypothesis of clothes.

  • The purpose of the study was to examine the effect of motif categories and motif colors on evaluating impressions of dress wearers. The research was conducted on a quasi experimental basis, with subjects numbering 187 male and 207 female college students. Data were collected in the period from march 19th to march 31st, 2007. A set of stimuli of dress wearers and semantic differential scales were developed. The stimuli were thirteen photographs editing by Youngwoo CAD system. Variables included; (a) motif colour(red, blue, achromatic and white) (b) motif categories(flower, paisley, stripes, zebra effect and plain). The semantic differential scale to measure impressions of dress wearer stimuli included 22 sets of hi-polar adjectives. The data were analysed by factor analysis and ANOVA and the major finding were as follows. Four factors emerged to account for dimension of impression. There were salience, attractiveness, comfort and femininity. The motif category effected on the four impression dimensions while the motif color effected on salience, comfort and softness sensory dimensions, and the results supported the gestalt theory of the impression perception.
