  • The purpose of this study were to provide basic visitor information for effective park management and to understand visitors' perception about the interpretive media which is utilized as environmental interpretation in Byeonsanbando National Park, Korea. To accomplish the purposes of study, a questionnaire survey was chosen and the 291 valid samples among them were analyzed. Among who used the interpretive media, the largest proportion used the visitor center exhibits, and the usage rate of interpretive label of woody plant and guided interpretation were shown to be relatively high. However, the park brochures(map) was evaluated that use efficiency was low. In the analysis of importance-performance for the environmental interpretation media, the mean of importance was 3.64 and that of performance was 3.03, which were lower than Chiaksan and Weolchusan National Park's survey data.

  • The purposes of this study were to provide basic visitor information for effective park management and to understand visitors' perception about the interpretive media which is utilized as a self-guide environmental interpretation in Weolchusan National Park. To accomplish the purposes of study, a questionnaire survey was chosen and the 196 valid samples among them were analyzed. Among who used the interpretive media, the largest proportion used the information board of park use-resources, and the usage rate of interpretive label of woody plant, interpretive sign of cultural asset, and self-guide tour were shown to be relatively high. However, the park brochures(map), bulletin boards, park web sites, LED sign, and visitor center exhibits were evaluated that use efficiency was low. In the analysis of importance-performance, visitors were perceiving the importance of all form of interpretive media greatly. The performance of interpretive media was also evaluated as affirmative.

  • In this paper, we suggest dynamic genetic tree-maps(DGTM) using optimal features on recognizing data. The DGTM uses the genetic algorithm about the importance of features rarely considerable on conventional neural networks and introduces GTM(genetic tree-maps) using tree structure according of the priority of features. Hence, we propose the extended formula, DGTM(dynamic GTM) has dynamic functions to separate and merge the neuron of neural network along the similarity of features.

  • The government is spending a large amount of budget to establish NGIS due to the importance of geospatial information. This paper deals with the study of schema mapping technique which can efficiently establish military topographic DB forest layer using digital forest map and other existing geospatial DB. In order to accomplish this 1) each schema of these types of DB was analyzed then, 2) mapping table which connects related attributes was created and finally, 3) military topographical DB forest layer of the area of interest was efficiently established. This research was able to display solutions that resolved compatibility issues between existing geospatial DB of these types, established by the schema mapping techniques described in this research.

  • The implementation of multiplexing techniques combined with advances in neutron optics make the neutron three-axis spectrometers (TAS) an efficient tool to map inelastic response from single crystals over momentum transfer ranges comparable to the size of a single Brillouin zone. Thanks to recent progress in polarization techniques such experiments can be combined relatively easily with neutron polarization analysis, which does not only provide unambiguous separation of response corresponding to structural and magnetic degrees of freedom, but permits a quantitative analysis of the magnetic response anisotropy, often of crucial importance to test theoretical predictions. In the forthcoming decade we therefore expect a further development of the complementary use, rather than competition, of the reactor-based TAS's with time-of-flight (TOF) instruments for single crystal spectroscopy at the existing (ISIS) as well as at the newly built (SNS, J-PARK) pulsed sources.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this paper are to propose a strategic map for hotel industry through analyzing the relationship between service resource, operational capabilities, and performance. Methods: A phone survey was conducted among Korean hotels, and 102 data sets were collected. Measurement items are assessed using both cognitive and objective scales. Results: As results, 'superior group', which is superior in both physical resources and human resources, is excellent in all capabilities and also in room occupancy rate. On the other hands, 'inferior group', which is inferior in both physical resources and human resources, shows lower achievements is in most areas except speed. In addition, physical superior group is better than human superior group in most capabilities except speed, but human superior group shows better results than physical superior group in both room occupancy rate and customer satisfaction. Conclusions: Through the empirical analysis, the conclusions attained are as follows; First, human resources affect customer satisfaction more directly that physical resources. Second, the balancing between physical resources and human resources has an importance to improve operational capabilities.

  • Holographic quantitative structure-activity relationships (HQSAR) is a useful tool to correlates structures with their biological activities. HQSAR is a two dimensional (2D) QSAR methodology, which generates QSAR equations through 2D fingerprint and correlates it with biological activity. Here, we report a 2D-QSAR model for a series of fifty-one 3,4-dihydroxychalcones derivatives utilizing HQSAR methodology. We developed HQSAR model with 6 optimum numbers of components (ONC), which resulted in cross-validated correlation coefficient ($q^2$) of 0.855 with 0.283 standard error of estimate (SEE). The non-cross-validated correlation coefficient (r2) with 0.966 indicates the model is predictive enough for analysis. Developed HQSAR model was binned in to a hologram length of 257. Atomic contribution map revealed the importance of dihydroxy substitution on phenyl ring.

  • In this paper, we propose a method of detecting the region for measuring intima-media thickness (IMT). The existing methods for IMT measurement are automatic, but the region used for measuring IMT is not detected automatically but often set by the user. Therefore, research on detecting the intima-media region is needed for fully automated IMT measurement. The proposed method uses a morphological feature of the carotid artery visible as two long high-brightness horizontal lines at the upper and lower parts. It uses Gaussian blurring, ends-in search stretching, color quantization using a color-importance-based self-organizing map, and morphological operations to emphasize and to detect the morphological feature. The experimental results for evaluating the performance of the proposed method showed a 97.25% (106/109) success rate. Therefore, the proposed method can be used to develop a fully automated IMT measurement system.

  • The seismic design recommendations of the Jordan Code for Loads and Forces (JC) are evaluated, based on comparisons with analytical studies and the Uniform Building Code. It was established that the overall safety ensured by the implementation of these recommendations is not consistent with the established seismic risk in Jordan and the intended objectives of the code. A new zoning map is proposed with effective peak ground acceleration values. The different period formulae of the code were studied and were found to grossly underestimate the fundamental period when compared with analytically derived values or other codes' formulae. Other factors including the dynamic, soil, importance and behavior factors are discussed. It was determined that the JC's lateral load distribution formulae clearly lead to smaller internal forces than both dynamic analysis and UBC loads, even when those loads are normalized to give the same base shear. The main reason for this is attributed to the limited allowance for a backlash force in the JC.

  • Concept mapping was used to understand the structure of customer's cafe experience. In January and February, 2009, interviews were conducted with 26 subjects residing in the Seoul-Gyeonggi area. One hundred-two statements describing cafe experience were extracted from the interview transcripts, and were sorted and rated for their importance. Concept mapping software was used to generate a concept map denoting seven dimensions of cafe experience('comfort', 'place of my own', 'pleasant atmosphere', 'personal coffee preference', 'service', 'uniqueness', and 'value'). The results provided meaningful dimensions of cafe customers' experience, which ought to be considered when planning a cafe.
