  • A Korean standardized set of pictures has been called for as more and more studies utilized picture stimuli among memory and representation research. This article presents a Korean standardized set of pictures for studies probing the cognitive mechanisms that underlie picture and word processing or studies that simply utilize pictures stimuli. This norm provides 213 pictures, data on several variables such as name agreement, appropriateness of pictures. and familiarity. Previous data on such variables as frequency. category. and frequency within a category have been integrated 1 into this norm. Limitation, usage. and application of this set are discussed in terms of 1 implicit and explicit memory, and those variables mentioned previously.

  • Solving a system of linear or non-linear equations is required to analyze any kind of structures. There are many ways to solve a system of equations, and they can be classified as implicit and explicit techniques. The explicit methods eliminate round-off errors and use less memory. The dynamic relaxation method (DR) is one of the powerful and simple explicit processes. The important point is that the DR does not require to store the global stiffness matrix, for which it just uses the residual loads vector. In this paper, a new approach to the DR method is expressed. In this approach, the damping, mass and time steps are similar to those of the traditional method of dynamic relaxation. The difference of this proposed method is focused on the method of calculating the damping. The proposed method is expressed such that the time step is constant, damping is equal to zero except in steps with maximum energy and the concentrated damping can be applied to minimize the energy of system in this step. In this condition, the calculation of damping in all steps is not required. Then the volume of computation is reduced. The DR method for form-finding of membrane structures is employed in this paper. The form-finding of the three plans related to the membrane structures with different loading is considered to investigate the efficiency of the proposed method. The numerical results show that the convergence rate based on the proposed method increases in all cases than other methods.

  • The purpose of the study was to investigate what kinds of learning strategies EFL learners use to learn English grammar and what is benefit from structured grammar input processing. Students of the study consisted of 48 college students who took Practical English Grammar at a university in Kyung-Gi area and were divided into two groups based on grammar scores. The students were asked to take two grammar tasks and grammar tests and complete a survey including questions on grammar strategy and input processing. The results of the study are as follows. First, learners' grammar level has an effect on use of grammar attack strategy including asking teachers, using grammar books and given contexts whereas there was no significant difference between groups in the planning strategies, Among memory strategies, using grammar exercise and linking with already known structure demonstrated a significant difference between groups. Second, with regard to input processing, high level students got higher score on how much they understood the structured grammar input compared with low level students. Third, explicit implicit instruction added to input processing seems more comprehensible and more available than structured input only, Finally, it showed that there is positive relationship between perception and score of input processing tasks and grammar tests. Especially, learners' perception of input processing correlated more with final tests and tasks. Therefore, it suggests that the more input processing task need to develop and utilize in order to facilitate learners' intake.

  • In this study, a finite element method program code which can be accomodate boundary conditions on the complex surfaces has been developed to simulate polymer extruder processes. The analysis method includes the fractional 4-step method for efficient computation time and compact usage of memory storage to solve the velocities and the pressure values from the Navier-Stokes equation. By using the developed program which was verified with simple Poiseuille flow mixture phenomena in single-and twin-screw extruder are analyzed. It is concluded that the proposed method resulte Poiseuille Poiseuille d in fair agreement with the exact solution of simple flow and the back flow near the entrance happens in single-screw model. It is identified that the location and values of maximum pressure in the twin screw extruder model. It is expected that the Velocity field found can be used to predict the degree of mixture in the extruder barrel.

  • The progress of computers and Web has given rise to a rapid increase of the quantity of the useful information, which is making the demand of recommender systems widely expanding. Like in other domains, a recommender system in a digital library is important, but there are only a few studies about the recommender system of research papers, Moreover none is there in korea to our knowledge. In the paper, we seek for a way to develop the NDSL recommender system of research papers based on the survey of related studies. We conclude that NDSL needs to modify the way to collect user's interests from explicit to implicit method, and to use user-based and memory-based collaborative filtering mixed with contents-based filtering(CF). We also suggest the method to mix two filterings and the use of personal ontology to improve user satisfaction.

  • This study focuses on the process of internalizing the perception of negative discrimination among elderly people who have experienced age discrimination. The grounded theory method was used to identify the age discrimination experienced by the elderly in their daily lives and to explore the consequences of such discrimination through self-ageism. According to the analysis results, the elderly respond not only to explicit discrimination but also to implicit discrimination. In this process, the stronger the pain of old age (poverty, disease, ignorance, and solitude) and the stronger the memory of failing to respond to discrimination, the higher the level of self-ageism. "Self-ageism" has internalized the negative image of the elderly, who have been discriminated against by age, resulting in disadvantages in terms of quality of life through various reject/separate/suspension actions in reality. In the presence of supportive resources such as health, institutional support, and caregivers, the elderly have room to overcome self-ageism through more active ways. However elderly people who cannot motivate themselves and they lack these resources, elderly are trapped in negative reflux caused by self-ageism and sustained a depressed and shrinking life. In this state, it is not easy to motivate themselves and make physical, cognitive, emotional and social responses. Therefore, in this analysis, we specifically noted two aspects, contextual conditions and interventional conditions, and proposed programs for synchronizing senior citizens and improving resiliency from a microscopic point of view, and argued for the need to develop systems such as supplementing welfare and health service systems related to the entire life cycle, expanding accessibility and 'age-integration' through 'Community Care', awareness improvement and anti-discrimination laws.
