  • The purposes of this study were to analyze factors of mass customization for hair salon's customers and to identify the differences among groups segmented by mass customization level. The self-administered questionnaire was used for data collection. The respondents were 423 women using hair salons. Factors of hair salon's mass customization implementation were sanitary condition & hair salon's staff, hair styling technique, communication service, tangible service, monetary support, convenience service, and visible service. Hair salon's customers were categorized into the high-level of needs group, the middle-level of needs group, and the low-level of needs group. The high-level of needs group consisted of university students or women with a higher education or higher income. This group selected beauty salons by the promotion or advertisements, preferred their own unique hair style or a little-fashionable hair style, and showed a lower level of patronage. The middle-level of needs group consisted of university students or women with a higher education or higher incomes. They selected hair salons by service prices, preferred a basic hair style, and showed a midium level of patronage. The low-level of needs group consisted of women with lower education or lower income. They selected beauty salons by career of hair dressers or the promotion or advertisement, preferred highly fashionable hair style, and showed high level of patronage.

  • Supported Liquid Membranes (SLMs) have been widely studied as feasible alternative to traditional processes for separation and purification of various chemicals both from aqueous and organic matrices. This technique offers various advantages like active transport, possibility to use expensive extractants, high selectivity, low energy requirements and minimization of chemical additives. SLMs are not yet used at large scale in industrial applications, because of the low stability. In the present paper, after a brief overview of the state of the art of SLM technology the facilitated transport mechanisms of SLM based separation is described, also introducing the small and the big carrousel models, which are employed for transport modeling. The main operating parameters (selectivity, flux and permeability) are introduced. The problems related to system stabilization are also discussed, giving particular attention to the influence of membrane materials (solid membrane support and organic liquid membrane (LM) phase). Various approaches proposed in literature to enhance SLM stability are also reviewed. Modification of the solid membrane support, creating an additional layer on membrane surface, which acts as a barrier to LM phase loss, increases system stability, but the membrane permeability, and then the flux, decrease. Stagnant Sandwich Liquid Membrane (SSwLM), an implementation of the SLM system, results in both high flux and stability compared to SLM. Finally, possible large scale applications of SLMs are also reviewed, evidencing that if the LM separation process is opportunely carried out (no production of byproducts), it can be considered as a green process.

  • The purpose of this paper is to investigate the density-wave oscillation type instability in the recirculating loop of U-tube steam generator (UTSG). The perturbed and nodalized conservations equations based on the drift-flux model have been derived to obtain the single-and two-phase pressure drop perturbations, by taking into account the slip between phases, nonuniform heat flux and heated wall dynamics. To assess the stability, the frequency domain technique with the Nyquist criterion has been used under the constant pressure drop boundary condition through the loop. The computer implementation of this model, SASG, was used for the parametric study of the steam generator in Kori-Unit 1. The results of the parametric study revealed important factors influencing UTSG stability margin.

  • Network virtualization is an emerging technology for solving the rigidity of the physical network infrastructure. The innovative technique virtualizes all resources in the network, including the network links and nodes, and provides a number of virtual networks on a single network infrastructure. In order to realize a virtual network, a thorough and complete monitoring of all resources in the network should be performed firstly. OpenFlow is an open source stack for network virtualization. However, it is impossible to apply OpenFlow to AP-based legacy wireless LAN environment because OpenFlow targets ethernet-based LAN environment. In this paper, we implement an adaptor-styled virtual switch for AP-based wireless LAN through customizing the Open vSwitch which is a virtual switch of OpenFlow. The evaluation test results show that the implemented OpenFlow stack operates successfully. The implemented OpenFlow stack can now be plugged immediately in existing AP-based wireless LAN environment and plays network resource monitoring. In the future, we can develop wireless LAN virtualization applications on the wireless OpenFlow stack.

  • Many heterogeneous Intrusion Detection Systems(IDSs) based in misuse detection technique including the self-developed IDS are now operating in Defense-ESM(Enterprise Security Management System). IDS based on misuse detection may have different capability in the intrusion detection process according to the frequency and quality of its signature update. This makes the integration and collaboration with other IDSs more difficult. In this paper, with the purpose of creating the proper foundation for integration and collaboration between heterogeneous IDSs being operated in Defense-ESM, we propose an effective mechanism that can enable one IDS to propagate its new detection rules to other IDSs and receive updated rules from others. We also prove the performance of rule exchange and application possibility to defense environment through the implementation and experiment.

  • The problem of quantization errors in digital filter design arises because of the practical necessity due to finite wordlength implementation. These errors are classified into coefficient quantization error and roung off error. In this paper, in order to analyze and reduce these errors, minimum ceefficient quantization realization is directly derived form impulse responese design specification. And using the equivalent transform relation between minimum coefficient quantization error and minimum roundoff error realizations, we synthesize an optimal realization state-space digital filter. This technique is analyzed by the simulation of an approximated 3rd model, which shows that it is superior to direct or cascade state-space digital filter in quantization errors.

  • An adaptive ranging technique for Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiple Access(OFDMA) uplink transmission is proposed for timing synchronization of multiple mobile stations located different distances from a base station. By combining the Timing Phase Compensated Frequency Domain Cross-correlation(TPCFDC) and Frequency Domain Differential Cross-correlation(FDDC), the proposed scheme reduces the number of correlators used in ordinary TPCFDC. Repeated initial ranging attempt with the FDDC in the proposed scheme greatly reduces the hardware implementation complexity. Simulation results for ranging success probability and average ranging attempts count show that the proposed algorithm performs similarly with the ordinary TPCFDC even with the 10 times reduced complexity.

  • A Satellite transponder is the Communication system to process signal with up-link signal recovery, and transmit to ground station through down-link. The orbit flight in the deep space causes high doppler shift in the received signals from the ground station so that the Carrier recovery and fast synchronization system are essential for the transponder system. The conventional analog transponder is employing the system's carrier recovery along with the PLL (Phase Locked Loop) designed for satellite's operation. This paper presents a digital carrier recovery scheme which can provide more reliable and software reconfigurable implementation technique for satellite transponder system without verifying scheme along with transponder designed for short distance or deep space satellite.

  • This paper develops an real-time expert system for the electronic interlocking system. it obtains the higher safety by determining the railway interlocking strategy in order to prevent trains from colliding, and derailing in the viewpoint of veteran expert, considering the situation of station in real-time. The expert system determines the real-time interlocking strategy by confirming the interlocking relationships among signal facilities based on the interlocking knowledge base from input information such as signal, points, and it is implemented as the rule-based system in order to represented accurately and effectively the interlocking relationships. Especially in case of emergency the function which determines the rational route coordinating with IIKBAG on the workstation is designed in order to minimize the spreading effect. It is implemented in C computer language for the purpose of the implementation of the inference engine using the dynamic memory allocation technique, the build and interface of the station structure database. And, the validity of the built expert system is proved by simulating the diversity cases which may occur in the real system for the typical station model.
