탄환 충격파 측정용 방수 음향센서 개발 (Development of Waterproof Acoustic Sensor for Shockwave Measurement)

  • In shooting training, an impact point identification system that uses the impact wave of the bullet to check the impact point in the target plate has been recently used. Acoustic sensors used in these systems must be able to detect shock waves of high sound pressure levels and be both waterproof and dustproof for rainy weather and dusty environments, respectively. In this study, membranes with excellent waterproof, dustproof, and sound transmitting characteristics were selected through a characteristics test; a protection cap was installed to install the selected materials. After coupling the produced protection cap to the acoustic sensor housing, the sensitivity and phase characteristics of the acoustic sensor were checked. Through the waterproof and dustproof test, the performances of its sensitivity and phase characteristics were confirmed. Finally, the normal shockwave of a 5.56 mm diameter bullet was measured using a shockwave detection signal collecting plate equipped with a prototype of the acoustic sensor at a 100 m firing range.

RS-SiC 세라믹 재료의 강구 입자충격 손상 거동 (A Steel Ball Impact Damage Behavior of RS-SiC Ceramic Materials)

  • 본 연구에서는 반응소결 탄화규소(RS-SiC)의 제조공정 중에서 C/SiC 복합 비율(0.1, 0.3, 0.4, 0.5, 0.6, 0.7, 1.0)이 외부입자충격 손상 거동에 미치는 영향을 평가하였다. 충격시험은 공기총(air-gun)을 사용하였으며, 직경 2 mm 강구를 113 m/s, 122 m/s, 180 m/s의 충격속도로 RS-SiC 판재($20\times20\times3$ mm)에 충격시켜 발생된 링크랙의 직경 변화 및 콘크랙의 발생 거동을 SEM 영상으로 평가하였다. 결과적으로 RS-SiC에 발생한 링크랙의 최대직경이 충격속도가 증가함에 따라 대체로 증가하였지만, C/SiC 복합 비율에 따라서는 급격한 변화를 보였다. 이는 C/SiC 복합 비율에 따라 잔류 Si 함량 및 굽힘강도 변화의 영향으로 볼 수 있다. 특히 C/SiC 복합 비율이 0.4~0.5 범위에서 콘크랙이 발생됨에 따라 링크랙에서 콘크랙의 발생으로 변화되는 충격손상 메커니즘의 임계영역으로 판단할 수 있다. 아울러 콘크랙의 발생 임계영역을 고려할 때, RS-SiC 최적 제조 공정으로서 C/SiC 혼합 비율을 최대 0.3으로 하는 것이 효과적이다.

마그네틱 파우더 브레이크를 이용한 소형 진자형 충격시험기 개발 (Development of a Miniature Pendular Type Impact Testing Machine Using a Magnetic Powder Brake)

  • A miniature pendular type impact testing machine was designed and developed, adopting a magnetic powder brake in order to investigate tensile and shear behavior of a small solder ball at high speed. In this testing system, the potential energy of the pendulum is transferred into the impact energy during its drop. Then, the impact energy is transmitted through the striker which is connected to the push rods to push the specimen for tensile loading. The tensile behavior of lead-free solder ball in diameter of 760 ${\mu}m$ was successfully investigated in a speed range of 0.15 m/s~1.25 m/s using this designed device. The maximum tensile strength of the solder joint decreases with the loading speed in the testing condition. The maximum tensile strength of the joint was 56 MPa in the low speed region.

TIME/FREQUENCY ANALYSIS OF TERRESTRIAL IMPACT CRATER RECORDS

  • The terrestrial impact cratering record recently has been examined in the time domain by Chang & Moon (2005). It was found that the ${\sim}26$ Myr periodicity in the impact cratering rate exists over the last ${\sim}250$ Myrs. Such a periodicity can be found regardless of the lower limit of the diameter up to D ${\sim}35km$. It immediately called pros and cons. The aim of this paper is two-fold: (1) to test if reported periodicities can be obtained with an independent method, (2) to see, as attempted earlier, if the phase is modulated. To achieve these goals we employ the time/frequency analysis and for the first time apply this method to the terrestrial impact cratering records. We have confirmed that without exceptions noticeable peaks appear around ${\sim}25$ Myr, corresponding to a frequency of ${\sim}0.04(Myr)^{-1}$. We also find periodicities in the data base including small impact craters, which are longer. Though the time/frequency analysis allows us to observe directly phase variations, we cannot find any indications of such changes. Instead, modes display slow variations of power in time. The time/frequency analysis shows a nonstationary behavior of the modes. The power can grow from just above the noise level and then decrease back to its initial level in a time of order of 10 Myrs.

The factors that influence postoperative stability of the dental implants in posterior edentulous maxilla

  • Background: All clinicians are aware of the difficulty of installing a dental implant in posterior maxilla because of proximate position of maxillary sinus, insufficient bone width, and lower bone density. This study is to examine which factors will make the implantation in the posterior maxilla more difficult, and which factors will affect the postoperative implant stability in this region. Methods: Five hundred seventy-three fixtures on the maxilla posterior were included for this study from all the patients who underwent an installation of the dental implant fixture from January 2010 to December 2014 at the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery in Pusan National University Dental Hospital (Yangsan, Korea). The postoperative implant stability quotient (ISQ) value, fixture diameter and length, presence of either bone graft or sinus lift, and graft material were included in the reviewed factors. The width and height of the bone bed was assessed via preoperative cone beam CT image analysis. The postoperative ISQ value was taken just before loading by using the OsstellTM $mentor^{(R)}$ (Integration Diagnostics AB, Gothenburg, Sweden). The t test and ANOVA methods were used in the statistical analysis of the data. Results: Mean ISQ of all the included data was 79.22. Higher initial bone height, larger fixture diameter, and longer fixture length were factors that influence the implant stability on the posterior edentulous maxilla. On the other hand, the initial bone width, bone graft and sinus elevation procedure, graft material, and approach method for sinus elevation showed no significant impact associated with the implant stability on the posterior edentulous maxilla. Conclusions: It is recommended to install the fixtures accurately in a larger diameter and longer length by performing bone graft and sinus elevation.

Mamdani 퍼지추론을 이용한 화살의 탄착점 측정 시스템 (Measuring System for Impact Point of Arrow using Mamdani Fuzzy Inference System)

  • 제조공정을 통해 생산된 화살의 성능은 화살의 이동궤적(궁사의 패러독스)과 탄착점의 집적도에 따라 좌우된다. 특히 동일한 환경에서 반복적으로 화살의 슈팅실험을 수행할 경우, 반복실험에서 얻어진 화살의 탄착점 집적도는 화살 성능 평가에서 중요한 객관적 지표가 된다. 그러나 화살의 탄착점에 대한 분석은 현재 상용화된 기술이 부족하며, 기존의 연구들은 화살의 성능에 영향을 미치는 제조공정 변수(화살깃, 화살촉, 화살의 곧기, 중량, 외경, 스파인)만을 최적화하려는 방향으로 기술력이 집중되어 있다. 본 논문에서는 화살의 주요성능지표인 화살의 탄착점 측정 자동화를 위해, Mamdani 퍼지 추론 시스템(Mamdani Fuzzy Inference System)과 도형의 닮음(Similarity of Polygon)을 이용한 화살의 탄착점 측정 시스템을 제안한다. 라인레이저(Line Laser)와 포토다이오드어레이(Photo Diode Array)를 이용하여 고속(약 275km/h)으로 이동하는 화살의 탄착점 데이터를 계측하고, 계측된 데이터를 퍼지 추론과 도형의 닮음을 이용하여 화살의 탄착점으로 사상(Mapping) 시킨다.

Evaluation of Impact Resistance of Steel Fiber and Organic Fiber Reinforced Concrete and Mortar

  • In this study, the Impact resistance of steel fiber and organic fiber reinforced concrete and mortar was evaluated and the improvement in toughness resulting from an increase in compressive strength and mixing fiber for impact resistance on performance was examined. The types of fiber were steel fiber, PP and PVA, and these were mixed in at 0.1, 0.5 and 1.0 vol.%, respectively. Impact resistance is evaluated with an apparatus for testing impact resistance performance by high-speed projectile crash by gas-pressure. For the experimental conditions, Specimen size was $100{\times}100{\times}20$, 30mm ($width{\times}height{\times}thickness$). Projectile diameter was 7 and 10 mm and impact speed is 350m/s. After impact test, destruction grade, penetration depth, spalling thickness and crater area were evaluated. Through this evaluation, it was found that as compressive strength is increased, penetration is suppressed. In addition, as the mixing ratio of fiber is increased, the spalling thickness and crater area are suppressed. Organic fibers have lower density than the steel fiber, and population number per unit area is bigger. As a result, the improvement of impact resistance is more significant thanks to dispersion and degraded attachment performance.

환경영향평가중 삼림생태계 평가기법개발(II) : 녹지의 자연성평가 (Development of Forest Ecosystem Assessment Technique of Environmental Impact Assessment(II) : Nature Evaluation of Vegetation)

  • To select the criteria, literature review was made in the quantitative case of conservation biology, foreign country's EIA and domestic ecology. Among them, a few factors was extracted. To applicate the criteria to domestic forest ecosystem, expert opinion survey was executed to the ecologist. The results were summarized as follows; 1. Classification of sites was made of land use system which is related to forest ecosystem or forest conservation. Sites are divided into 3 categories which are nature preservation area, seminature preservation area and urbanized area. Evaluation criteria is consisted of rarity and naturalness. 2. Each area had different criteria composition according to the site characteristics. Criteria of nature preservation area is rarity in the broad sense (distribution pattern of vegetation), vegetation size, successional stage and depth of organic matters. Those of seminature preservation area are rarity in the broad sense (distribution area of vegetation), vegetation size, successional stage, diameter at breath height and depth of organic matters. And those of urbanized area are vegetation distribution in area, successional stage, age of forest and diameter of breath height. The basic data of criterion was gathered by field survey. 3. Evaluation index and total naturalness index was obtained by adding the each criterion. It is made up of two categories-rarity and naturalness. TNi is divided into 3 grades. Grade I is more than 70% for TNi, grade IT is 50~70%, and grade III is below 50%. According to the each grade, permitted action and facilities were suggested.. This research just focuses on the evaluation of vegetation quality and the assessment results do not directly judge conservation or development. To make better evaluation criteria, various fields of forest ecosystem-geological or physical nature environment and fauna ecosystem etc. -will be added wholly to this research.

복합재료 만든 두꺼운 압력용기의 저속충격에 관한 연구 (Low-velocity Impact Damage of a Thick Pressure vessel)

  • 저속 충격을 받은 복합재로 만들어진 두꺼운 압력용기의 파괴모드와 손상 상태에 대하여 조사하여 이를 정량적으로 나타내는 것이 본 연구의 관심이다. 본 논문에 사용된 시편은 압력용기의 중앙을 길이 305mm로 잘른 원통형 ring모양이다. 충격자는 직경이 25.4mm와 12.7mm인 반구형 2종류와 모서리의 직경이 1mm인 원추형 1종류로 무게는 3.9kg이며 자유낙하 높이는 20mm에서 200mm로 종류에 따라 간격을 달리했다. 실험 장치로는 실린더가 충격에 흔들리지 않도록 고정하는 받침대와 자유낙하 하는 impactor 이며 impactor의 윗면에 한 개의 가속도 게이지를 설치했으며 밑면에 90도 간격으로 4군에 스트레인 게이지를 붙여 충격에너지, 최대 충격력, contact radius를 측정하고 시험후 시편은 방사선 촬영을 하여 충격자의 종류에 따라 손상의 정도가 어떻게 다른지를 파악했다. Herzian이론을 사용하여 contact radius를 구하고 측정된 자료와 비교 검토하였다. Contact radius 값은 충격자의 직경이 클수록 큰 것을 알수 있고 실험치 값은 이론치 값 보다 큰데 이는 실제 연소관의 기계적 성질의 값이 계산치 보다 적은 것이 원인이다. 직경이 25.4mm인 반구형의 충격자는 직경이 12.7mm인 반구형의 충격자에 비하여 내부에 delamination크기가 컸다. 가속도의 값은 높이에 따라 선형적으로 변하고 충격자의 모양이 둔탁할수록 가속도 값이 커지는 것을 알 수 있다.

밀링 에너지 변화에 따른 TiC 분말의 미세화 거동에 관한 정량적 연구 (Quantitative Study on the Refinement Behaviors of TiC Powders Produced by Mechanical Milling Under Different Impact Energy)

  • This study investigated refinement behaviors of TiC powders produced under different impact energy conditions using a mechanical milling process. The initial coarse TiC powders with an average diameter of 9.3 ${\mu}m$ were milled for 5, 20, 60 and 120 mins through the conventional low energy mechanical milling (LEMM, 22G) and specially designed high energy mechanical milling (HEMM, 65G). TiC powders with angular shape became spherical one and their sizes decreased as the milling time increased, irrespective of milling energy. Based upon the FE-SEM and BET results of milled powders, it was found initial coarse TiC powders readily became much finer near 100 nm within 60 min under HEMM, while their sizes were over 200 nm under LEMM, despite the long milling time of up to 120 min. Particularly, ultra-fine TiC powders with an average diameter of 77 nm were fabricated within 60 min in the presence of toluene under HEMM.
