  • Because of various style-sheet and Korean-Fonts, converting from WYSIWYG types of HTML data to forms of PDF has many limitations. In print-work areas, for printing specific fonts, it has to use CMYK colors instead of RGB colors. This paper describes about the process to make web font to printing PDF files, which is high resolution image captured document based on HTML, by using COM component feature of hardware.

  • Many image compression standards such as JPEG, MPEG or H.263 are based on the discrete cosine transform (DCT) and quantization method. Quantization error. is the major source of image quality degradation. The current dequantization method assumes the uniform distribution of the DCT coefficients. Therefore the dequantization value is the center of each quantization interval. However DCT coefficients are regarded to follow Laplacian probability density function (pdf). The center value of each interval is not optimal in reducing squared error. We use mean of the quantization interval assuming Laplacian pdf, and show the effect of correction on image quality. Also, we compare existing quantization error to corrected quantization error in closed form. The effect of PSNR improvements due to the compensation to the real image is in the range of 0.2 ∼0.4 ㏈. The maximum correction value is 1.66 ㏈.

  • This study proposed two multisensor fusion methods for segment-based image classification utilizing a region-growing segmentation. The proposed algorithms employ a Gaussian-PDF measure and an evidential measure respectively. In remote sensing application, segment-based approaches are used to extract more explicit information on spatial structure compared to pixel-based methods. Data from a single sensor may be insufficient to provide accurate description of a ground scene in image classification. Due to the redundant and complementary nature of multisensor data, a combination of information from multiple sensors can make reduce classification error rate. The Gaussian-PDF method defines a regional measure as the PDF average of pixels belonging to the region, and assigns a region into a class associated with the maximum of regional measure. The evidential fusion method uses two measures of plausibility and belief, which are derived from a mass function of the Beta distribution for the basic probability assignment of every hypothesis about region classes. The proposed methods were applied to the SPOT XS and ENVISAT data, which were acquired over Iksan area of of Korean peninsula. The experiment results showed that the segment-based method of evidential measure is greatly effective on improving the classification via multisensor fusion.

  • The paper presents the advanced radiometric calibration method, called the lRCM (Iterative Radiometric Calibration Method), in order to avoid an operational constraint (solar source) for calibration. The IRCM assumes that an optical instrument is equipped with a filter assembly which consists of same band filters with different transmission ratios. Given all the noise sources (including the artificial one caused by the filters) of an image sensor, the noncentral ${\chi}^2$ distribution of the output result is induced by the approach of a noise PDF (Power Density Function). Finally, the radiometric calibration problem is transformed into equating two independent relations for the image sensor gains through the specified distribution.

  • Quantization error, generated by the quantization process of an image, is inherent in computer vision. Because, especially in stereo vision, the quantization error in a 2-D image results in position errors in the reconstructed 3-D scene, it is necessary to analyze it mathematically. In this paper, the analysis of the probability density function (pdf) of quantization error for a line-based stereo matching scheme is presented. We show that the theoretical pdf of quantization error in the reconstructed 3-D position information has more general form than the conventional analysis for pixel-based stereo matching schemes. Computer simulation is observed to surpport the theoretical distribution.

  • This paper describes a normalized numeric image descriptor used to assess the luminance and contrast of the image. The proposed image descriptor used the each pixel data as weighted value of the probability density function (PDF) and defined by normalization in order to objective represent. The proposed image numeric descriptor can be used to the adaptive gamma process because it suggests the objective basis of the gamma value selection.

  • This paper deals with the development of an application that converts the PDF music score entered by the user into a MIDI file of the chord the user wants. This application converts the PDF file into a PNG file for chord conversion when the user enters the PDF music score file and the chord which the user wants to change. After recognizing the melody of sheet music through image processing algorithm and recognizing the tempo of sheet music notes through deep learning, then the MIDI file of chord for existing sheet music is produced. The OpenCV algorithm and deep learning can recognize minim note, quarter note, eighth note, semi-quaver note, half rest, eighth rest, quarter rest, semi-quaver rest, successive notes and chord notes. The experiment shows that the note recognition rate of the music score was 100% and the tempo recognition rate was 90% or more.

  • It is now possible for the general public to publish their own publications without difficulties because of versatile Internet environments and cost-effective printing machines. However, special software design tools are still required in order to design name cards, leaflets, yellow books and free newspaper. In this paper, we present a computerized typesetting model which automates all procedures of generating business cards the most representative commercial design example. All processes in our model are performed over the Internet from application to generation. Based on our model, we also introduce a web-based computerized typesetting system which collaborates with the Adobe InDesign CS2 and generates image files in real time for user requests. Such a system is linked with an automatic payment system so that a PDF file, a target output, is generated after a user confirms his/her order.

  • Thresholding in frequency domain is a simple and effective noise reduction technique. Determination of the threshold is critical to the image quality. The optimal threshold minimizing the Mean Square Error (MSE) is chosen adaptively in the wavelet domain; we utilize an equation of the MSE for the soft-thresholded signal and the histogram of wavelet coefficients of the original image and noisy image. The histogram of the original signal is estimated through the deconvolution assuming that the probability density functions (pdfs) of the original signal and the noise are statistically independent. The proposed method is quite general in that it does not assume any prior for the source pdf.
