A study on application of the web-printing using PNG image file (PNG 파일 이미지를 이용한 웹 인쇄물 적용에 관한 연구)

  • JPEG is good for full color representation but is poor in quality of image because of the small size and the losing compression ways. GIF is a kind of format style made for image - transmission in Compuserve which is a method of PC communication in U. S. A and now is used in world wide web owing to the efficiency of file compression and transmission. But GIF only is used 256 colors, so the images in web has a poorer quality of colors effect to be compared with those of printed catalogues. Also there can be licence problems when the images is used for commercial uses because the possession is Compuserve. The PNG is a way that the total advantages of JPEG and GIF. PNG image file is a more skillful (bitmap display unit), shows a high quality image like TIFF image about, gives superior compression , a 10% to 30% represents full color, 256 color, gray like JPEG. GIF file which uses LZW compression file is a thing which pays licence, In other hands, PNG is free from licence and more skillful image processing method against image error, and it is possible to conserve the color information. Therefore, this treatise is about how various images which are utilized for commercial printings in web, can be made into PNG files about the compression file. And the representation of image by compared the G]U images with JPEG images as well as compression file and the representation of image the superiority of color representation. In addition, 1 check out how much ranges the PNG files are available for electronic publish printing.

Development of the Corrosion Deterioration Inspection Tool for Transmission Tower Members (송전철탑 부재 부식열화 검사장비 개발)

  • Recently, interests for maintenance of transmission tower are increasing to extend life of structures and reduce maintenance cost. However, existing classical diagnosis method of corrosion deteriorated degree on the transmission tower steel members, visual inspection, has a problem that error often due to difference of inspector's individual knowledge and experience. In order to solve the problem, this study carried out to develop the corrosion deterioration inspection tool for transmission tower steel members. This tool is composed of camera equipment and computer-aided diagnosis system. We standardized the photographing method by camera equipment to obtain suitable pictures for image processing. Diagnosis system was designed to evaluate automatically degree of corrosion deterioration for member of transmission tower on the basis of the RGB color image processing techniques. It is anticipated that developed the corrosion deterioration inspection tool will be very helpful in decision of optimal maintenance time for transmission tower corrosion.

  • This paper introduces the Optical Camera Communications (OCC) using image processing technique. The architecture and operation of OCC system are given. To enhance data rate which is limited by sampling operation of commercial 30fps camera, multi colors transmission technique is employed, leading to the importance of color image processing technique. Multi color encoding and image processing based decoding will be proposed in the paper.

Efficient Image Transmission System Using IFS (IFS를 이용한 고효율 영상전송 시스템)

  • The concept of IFS (Iterated Function System) was applied to compress and transmit image data efficiently. To compress the image data with IFS, self-similarity was used to search a similar block. To improve the coding performance for the iterated function system with natural images, the image will be formed of properly transformed parts of itself to minimize the coding error. The simulation results using the proposed IFS represent high PSNR performance and improved compression efficiency with the coefficient of a recursive function.

Development of Dark Field image Processing Technique for the Investigation of Nanostructures

  • We propose a custom analysis technique for the dark field (DF) image based on transmission electron microscopy (TEM). The custom analysis technique is developed based on the $DigitalMicrograph^{(R)}$ (DM) script language embedded in the Gatan digital microscopy software, which is used as the operational software for most TEM instruments. The developed software automatically scans an electron beam across a TEM sample and records a series of electron diffraction patterns. The recorded electron diffraction patterns provide DF and ADF images based on digital image processing. An experimental electron diffraction pattern is recorded from a IrMn polycrystal consisting of fine nanograins in order to test the proposed software. We demonstrate that the developed image processing technique well resolves nanograins of ~ 5 nm in diameter.

Weighted Hadamard 변환을 이용한 Image Data 처리에 관한 연구

  • The Hadamard matrix is a symmetric matrix made of plus and minus ones as entries. There fore the use of Hadamard transform in the image processing requires only the real number operations and results in the computational advantages. Recently, However, certain degradation aspects have been reported. In this paper we propose a WH matrix which retains the main properties of Hadamard matrix. The actual improvement of the image transmission in the inner part of the picture has been demonstrated by the computer simulated image developments. The orthogonal transform offers a useful facility in the digital signal processing. As the size of the transmission block increases, however, the assigment of bits for each data must increase exponentially. Thus the SNR of the image tends to decline accordingly. As an attempt to increase the SNR, we propose the WH matrix whose elements are made of $\pm$1, $\pm$2, $\pm$3, and the unitform is 8$\times$8 matrix.

Evaluation of JPEG2000 Compression Algorithm for Satellite Image

  • Satellite Image archiving system requires large storage and long transmission time. A simple and cheap way of overcoming these limitations is to increase the compression ratio. However this requires a feasibility study for accurate applications. Here, a new still image compression standard is being developed, the JPEG2000. It provides lossless and lossy compression, progressive transmission by pixel accuracy and by resolution, region-of-interest coding, user-defined tiling size, random codestream access and processing etc. In this study, we will briefly introduce the JPEG2000 compression standard which provides a new compression technique based on the wavelet technology and offers better compression ratios, and evaluate the compression ratios of JPEG2000 for satellite image by performing various image quality tests. Also, we will compare brief test result using the commercial remote sensing software.

  • In remote control of telerobotics equipment, the real-time visual feedback is necessary in order to facilitate real-time control. Because of the network congestion and the associated delays, the real-time image feedback is generally difficult in the public networks like internet. If the remote user is not able to receive the image feedback within a certain time, the work performance may tend to decrease, and it makes difficulties to control of the telerobotics equipment. In this paper, we propose an improved visual feedback scheme over the internet for telerobotics system. The size of a remote site image and its quality are adjusted for efficient transmission. The constructed system has a better real-time update characteristics, and shows a potential for the real-time visual control of the telerobotics system.

Image Matching Based on Robust Feature Extraction for Remote Sensing Haze Images (위성 안개 영상을 위한 강인한 특징점 검출 기반의 영상 정합)

  • This paper presents a method of single image dehazing and surface-based feature detection for remote sensing images. In the conventional dark channel prior (DCP) algorithm, the resulting transmission map invariably includes some block artifacts because of patch-based processing. This also causes image blur. Therefore, a refined transmission map based on a hidden Markov random field and expectation-maximization algorithm can reduce the block artifacts and also increase the image clarity. Also, the proposed algorithm enhances the accuracy of image matching surface-based features in an remote sensing image. Experimental results confirm that the proposed algorithm is superior to conventional algorithms in image haze removal. Moreover, the proposed algorithm is suitable for the problem of image matching based on feature extraction.

Design of Visual Surveillance System based on Wireless High Definition Image Transmission Technology (무선 고해상도 영상 전송 기술에 기반한 영상 감시 시스템의 설계)

  • It is important to detect dangerous objects which are intentionally abandoned in public places. Nowadays visual surveillance system is required to enhance the performance in two ways : high resolution and wireless linking ability. In this study the design of visual surveillance system is newly proposed to detect abandoned objects for social security purpose based on wireless high resolution image transmission technology. Also, to enhance PED, PAT performance, the tracking algorithm is included in the previous visual surveillance software scheme. By implementing proposed design scheme on the real wireless high resolution image transmission system, the effectiveness of the overall system is shown with the transmission performance of 4.0 Gbps speed.
