Purpose: To compare the dose distributions between three-dimensional (3D) and four-dimensional (4D) radiation treatment plans calculated by Ray-tracing or the Monte Carlo algorithm, and to highlight the difference of dose calculation between two algorithms for lung heterogeneity correction in lung cancers. Materials and Methods: Prospectively gated 4D CTs in seven patients were obtained with a Brilliance CT64-Channel scanner along with a respiratory bellows gating device. After 4D treatment planning with the Ray Tracing algorithm in Multiplan 3.5.1, a CyberKnife stereotactic radiotherapy planning system, 3D Ray Tracing, 3D and 4D Monte Carlo dose calculations were performed under the same beam conditions (same number, directions, monitor units of beams). The 3D plan was performed in a primary CT image setting corresponding to middle phase expiration (50%). Relative dose coverage, D95 of gross tumor volume and planning target volume, maximum doses of tumor, and the spinal cord were compared for each plan, taking into consideration the tumor location. Results: According to the Monte Carlo calculations, mean tumor volume coverage of the 4D plans was 4.4% higher than the 3D plans when tumors were located in the lower lobes of the lung, but were 4.6% lower when tumors were located in the upper lobes of the lung. Similarly, the D95 of 4D plans was 4.8% higher than 3D plans when tumors were located in the lower lobes of lung, but was 1.7% lower when tumors were located in the upper lobes of lung. This tendency was also observed at the maximum dose of the spinal cord. Lastly, a 30% reduction in the PTV volume coverage was observed for the Monte Carlo calculation compared with the Ray-tracing calculation. Conclusion: 3D and 4D robotic radiotherapy treatment plans for lung cancers were compared according to a dosimetric viewpoint for a tumor and the spinal cord. The difference of tumor dose distributions between 3D and 4D treatment plans was only significant when large tumor movement and deformation was suspected. Therefore, 4D treatment planning is only necessary for large tumor motion and deformation. However, a Monte Carlo calculation is always necessary, independent of tumor motion in the lung.

A developed skill of an intelligent CCTV is also advancing by using its Image Acquisition Device. In this field, area for technique can be divided into Foreground Subtraction which detects individuals and objects in a potential observing area and a tracing technology which figures out moving route of individuals and objects. In this thesis, an improved algorism for a settled engine development, which is stable to change in both noise and illumination for detecting moving objects is suggested. The proposed algorism from this thesis is focused on designing a stable and real time processing method which is perfect model in detecting individuals, animals, and also low-speeding transports and catching a change in an illumination and noise.

In this paper, the technique of prediction and analysis on the characteristics of propagation in indoor environment is presented. This technique needs no reception sphere commonly used in 3D-ray tracing scheme, and thereby it lends us easy code realization. The validity of developed code is verified by comparing with the values of image methods and measurement. The developed technique applied to the structure of rectangular corridor with the iron door and we calculated the path loss for the variation of the iron door angle. The path loss decreased about 15 dB at the distance of30 m from the iron door and the delay spread increased approximately by four times. Based on the computation, we confirmed that indoor propagation in PCS is heavily affected by the iron door in corridor.

The mnemonic-system in numbers is useful to remember numbers. In this mnemonic-system, the graph or image to apply many ways such as dot, line, bar, and etc is a rather neat mnemonic. Mnemonics related to numbers are concerned chiefly with translating information into a method that the brain can retain better than its original form. In Tracing the previous work of this paper, we suggested a simple graph algorithm and arranged image algorithm for the mnemonic-system in numbers. In this paper, we evaluate and implement the numerical information system based on the mnemonic system to apply previous algorithm in mobile environments.

This study presents an investigation of the changes that have occurred in the coastal ocean area of Kwangyang Bay located in the South Coastal region of Korea using remote sensing data based on Landsat Thematic Mapper (TM) multispectral digital data from 1988 and 1996. The coastal changes were detected using the digital histogram method and vector trace method. All the images were preprocessed, i.e. geometrically corrected, before the training set selection. when comparing the histograms of 7-band TM data, it was found that the band 5 image exhibited two critical Digital Number(DN) peaks, thereby indicating new coastal water and coastal land data. Based on this information, the coastal ocean area of the band 5 image was calculated using the vector tracing method supported by a CAD program. The result shows that the coastal ocean area decreased by about 5 % between 1988 to 1994. Accordingly, this gives a strong indication that the continuing land development will have a serious impact on the ecosystem of Kwangyang Bay.
The objective of the present study is to visualize the pulsatile flow fields by using three-dimensional computer simulation and the PIV system. A closed flow loop system was built for the steady and unsteady experiments. The Harvard pulsatile pump was used to generate the pulsatile pressure and velocity waveforms. Conifer powder as the tracing particles was added to water to visualize the flow field. Two consecutive particle images were captured by a CCD camera for the image processing. The cross-correlation method in combination with the moving searching area algorithm was applied for the image processing of the flow visualization. The pulsatile flow fields were visualized effectively by the PIV system in conjunction with the applied algorithm. The range validation and the area interpolation methods were used to obtain the final velocity vectors with high accuracy. The finite volume predictions were used to analyze three-dimensional flow patterns in the bifurcation model. The results of the PIV experiment and the computer simulation are in good agreement and the results show the recirculation zones and formation of the paired secondary flow distal to the apex of the bifurcated model. The results also show that the branch flow is pushed strongly to the inner wall due to the inertial force effect and helical motions are generated as the flow proceeds toward the outer wall.
High resolution satellite images are now widely used for a variety of mapping applications including photogrammetry, GIS data acquisition and visualization. As the spectral and spatial data size of satellite images increases, a greater processing power is needed to process the images. The solution of these problems is parallel systems. Parallel processing techniques have been developed for improving the performance of image processing along with the development of the computational power. However, conventional CPU-based parallel computing is often not good enough for the demand for computational speed to process the images. The GPU is a good candidate to achieve this goal. Recently GPUs are used in the field of highly complex processing including many loop operations such as mathematical transforms, ray tracing. In this study we proposed a technique for parallel processing of high resolution satellite images using GPU. We implemented a spectral radiometric processing algorithm on Landsat-7 ETM+ imagery using CUDA, a parallel computing architecture developed by NVIDIA for GPU. Also performance of the algorithm on GPU and CPU is compared.

This paper provides a method for video augmentation using image interpolation. In computer graphics or augmented reality, 3D information of a model object is necessary to generate 2D views of the model, which are then inserted into or overlayed on environmental views or real video frames. However, we do not require any three dimensional model but images of the model object at some locations to render views according to the motion of video camera which is calculated by an SFM algorithm using point matches under weak-perspective (scaled-orthographic) projection model. Thus, a linear view interpolation algorithm is applied rather than a 3D ray-tracing method to get a view of the model at different viewpoints from model views. In order to get novel views in a way that agrees with the camera motion the camera coordinate system is embedded into model coordinate system at initialization time on the basis of 3D information recovered from video images and model views, respectively. During the sequence, motion parameters from video frames are used to compute interpolation parameters, and rendered model views are overlayed on corresponding video frames. Experimental results for real video frames and model views are given. Finally, discussion on the limitations of the method and subjects for future research are provided.

A new ground penetrating radar imaging method for the estimation of buried artificial structures location and their approximate shapes in dispersive lossy ground is investigated. Fundamental idea is based on estimating delayed time and amplitude retrieval coefficients from scattered signals by buried scatterers. Using absolute value integration of each scanning site not only improve the accuracy of measured scattered signal, but also offers convenient ways to extract the image of buried structures. Multi-term Debye model was employed to describe a dispersive and lossy ground medium. We used the finite difference time domain method to discretize the wave equation in continuous form into the machine suitable form. This imaging method uses a new wave path tracing technique in time domain, which is helpful to identify the exact position of buried structures against the ground surface fluctuations.
Location based services based on positions of moving objects are expanding the business area gradually. The location is included all estimate position of the future as well as the position of the present and the past. Location based routing service is active business application in which the position information of moving objects is applied efficiently. This service includes the trajectory of past positions, the real-time tracing of present position of special moving objects, and the shortest and optimized paths combined with map information. In this paper, we describes the location based routing services is extend in distributed web GIS environment. Web GIS service systems provide the various GIS services of analyzing and displaying the spatial data with friendly user - interface. That is, we propose the efficient architecture and technologies for servicing the location based routing services in distributed web GIS environment. The position of moving objects is acquired by GPS (Global Positioning System) and converted the coordinate of real world by map matching with geometric information. We suppose the swapping method between main memory and storages to access the quite a number of moving objects. And, the result of location based routing services is wrapped the web-styled data format. We design the schema based on the GML. We design these services as components were developed in object-oriented computing environment, and provide the interoperability, language-independent, easy developing environment as well as re - usability.
