  • In this paper we implemented various image processing filtering using the format converter. This design method is based on realized the large processor-per-pixel array by integrated circuit technology. These two types of integrated structure are can be classify associative parallel processor and parallel process DRAM(or SRAM) cell. Layout pitch of one-bit-wide logic is identical memory cell pitch to array high density PEs in integrate structure. This format converter design has control path implementation efficiently, and can be utilize the high technology without complicated controller hardware. Sequence of array instruction are generated by host computer before process start, and instructions are saved on unit controller. Host computer is executed the pixel-parallel operation starting at saved instructions after processing start. As a result, we obtained three result that 1)simple smoothing suppresses higher spatial frequencies, reducing noise but also blurring edges, 2) a smoothing and segmentation process reduces noise while preserving sharp edges, and 3) median filtering, like smoothing and segmentation, may be applied to reduce image noise. Median filtering eliminates spikes while maintaining sharp edges and preserving monotonic variations in pixel values.

  • The aim of this study is to provide a clear and accessible method to obtain accurate true-stress strain data, and to extend the limited material data beyond the ultimate tensile strength (UTS) for AISI 304L. AISI 304L is used for the outer construction for some types of nuclear transport packages, due to its post-yield ductility and high failure strain. Material data for AISI 304L beyond UTS is limited throughout literature. 3D digital image correlation (DIC) was used during a series of uniaxial tensile experiments. Direct method extracted data such as true strain and instantaneous cross-sectional area throughout testing such that the true stress-strain response of the material up to failure could be created. Post processing of the DIC data has a considerable effect on the accuracy of the true stress-strain data produced. Influence of subset size and smoothing of data was investigated by using finite element analysis to inverse model the force displacement response in order to determine the true stress strain curve. The FE force displacement response was iteratively adapted, using subset size and smoothing of the DIC data. Results were validated by matching the force displacement response for the FE model and the experimental force displacement curve.

  • In this study we propose an image denoising algorithm appropriate for mobile smart phone equipped with limited computing ability, which has better performance and at the same time comparable quality comparing with previous studies. The proposed image denoising algorithm for mobile smart phone cameras in low level light environment reduces computational complexity and also prevents edge smoothing by extracting just Gaussian noises from the noisy input image. According to the experiment result, we verified that our algorithm has much better PSNR value than methods applying mean filter or median filter. Also the result image from our algorithm has better clear quality since it preserves edges while smoothing input image. Moreover, the suggested algorithm reduces computational complexity about 52% compared to the method applying original Laplacian mask computation, and we verified that our algorithm has good denoising quality by implementing the algorithm in Android smart phone.

  • This paper proposes not only the thresholding problem which has been one of the major problems in the pre-existing edge detection method but also the removal of blurring effect occurred at the edge regions due to the smoothing process. The structure of a given image is assigned as one of the three predefined image structure classes by evaluating its toll membership value to each reference structure class:The structure of an image belongs to the structure class which has the least cost value with the image. Upon the structure class assigned, noise removal and edge extraction precesses are performed, e.g., the smoothing algorithm is applied to the image if its structure belongs to the pure noise region class; edge extraction while removing the noise is performed simultaneously if the edge structure class. The proposed method shows that preventing the blurring effect can be usually seen in the edge images and extracting the edges with no using thresholding value by the experiments.

  • In this paper, we propose a RST resistant robust logo embedding technique for multimedia copyright protection Geometric manipulations are challenging attacks in that they do not introduce the quality degradation very much but make the detection process very complex and difficult. Watermark embedding in the normalized image directly suffers from smoothing effect due to the interpolation during the image normalization. This can be avoided by estimating the transform parameters using an image normalization technique, instead of embedding in the normalized image. Conventional RST resistant schemes that use full frame transform suffer from the absence of effective perceptual masking methods. Thus, we adopt $8\times8$ block DCT and calculate masking using a spatio-frequency localization of the $8\times8$ block DCT coefficients. Simulation results show that the proposed algorithm is robust against various signal processing techniques, compression and geometrical manipulations.

This image processor(IP) performs image pre-processing. image quality improvement in copying and sending mode, and mixed image processing based on the fuzzy theory. And smoothing in sub-scan direction is applied for normal receiving mode data so the received data is enhanced like fine mode data. Each algorithm is processed with the same type of image processing window and 2-D image processing is implemented with a 1-D line buffer. • The edge preserving method is important for image storage and geometric transformation. In this paper, we propose a new edge preserving method using HOG-Guide filter for image segmentation. In our approach, we extract edge information using gradient histogram to set HOG guide line. Then, we use HOG guide line to smooth image. With two to four iterations of smoothing operations, we finally obtain desirable edge preserved image. Our experimental results showed good performances showing that our proposed method is better than other methods.

  • The noise in an image degrades image quality and deteriorates coding efficiency of compression. Recently, various edge-preserving noise filtering methods based on the nonstationary image model have been proposed to overcome this problem. In most conventional nonstationary image models, however, pixels are assumed to be uncorrelated to each other In order not to increase the computational burden too much. As a result, some detailed information is lost in the filtered results. In this paper, we propose a computationally feasible adaptive noise smoothing algorithm which considers the nonstationary correlation characteristics of images. We assume that an image has a nonstationary mean and can be segmented into subimages which have individually different stationary correlations. Taking advantage of the special structure of the covariance matrix that results from the proposed image model, we derive a computationally efficient FFT-based adaptive linear minimum mean square error filter. The justification for the proposed image model is presented and the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm is demonstrated experimentally.

  • To interpret the seismic image precisely, random noises should be suppressed and the continuity of the image should be enhanced by using the appropriate smoothing techniques. Structure-Oriented Filter-Edge Preserving (SOF-EP) technique is one of the methods, that have been actively researched and used until now, to efficiently smooth seismic data while preserving the continuity of signal. This technique is based on the principle that diffusion occurs from large amplitude to small one. In a continuous structure such as a horizontal layer, diffusion or smoothing is operated along the layer, thereby increasing the continuity of layers and eliminating random noise. In addition, diffusion or smoothing across boundaries at discontinuous structures such as faults can be avoided by employing the continuity decision factor. Accordingly, the precision of the smoothing technique can be improved. However, in the case of the structure-oriented semblance technique, which has been used to calculate the continuity factor, it takes lots of time depending on the size of the filter and data. In this study, we first implemented the SOF-EP method and confirmed its effectiveness by applying it step by step to the field data. Next, we proposed and applied the corner response method which can efficiently calculate the continuity decision factor instead of structure-oriented semblance. As a result, we could confirm that the computation time can be reduced by about 6,000 times or more by applying the corner response method.
