  • In this paper, we propose a text processing method for Hindi characters, Devanagari scripts, in the Android. The key points of the text processing are to device automata, which define the combining rules of alphabets into a set of syllables, and to implement a font rendering engine, which retrieves and displays the glyph images corresponding to specific characters. In general, an automaton depends on the type and the number of characters. For the soft-keyboard, we designed the automata with 14 consonants and 34 vowels based on Unicode. Finally, a combined syllable is converted into a glyph index using the mapping table, used as a handle to load its glyph image. According to the multi-lingual framework of Freetype font engine, Dvanagari scripts can be supported in the system level by appending the implementation of our method to the font engine as the Hindi module. The proposed method is verified through a simple message system.

  • Recently, 3D stereoscopic display such as 3D stereoscopic cinemas and 3D stereoscopic TV is getting a lot of interest. In general, a stereo image can be used in 3D stereoscopic display. In other hands, for 3D auto stereoscopic display, the elemental images should be generated through visualization from every camera in a lens array. Since a lens array consists of several cameras, it takes a lot of time to generate the elemental images with respect to 3D virtual space, specially, if a large bio-medical volume data is in the 3D virtual space, it will take more time. In order to improve the problem, in this paper, we construct an octree for a given bio-medical volume data and then propose a method to generate the elemental images through efficient rendering of the Octree data using GPU. Experimental results show that the proposed method can obtain more improvement comparable than conventional one, but the development of more efficient method is required.

  • In this paper, we introduce a method to synthesize realistic make-up effects on input images efficiently. In particular, we focus on shading on the make-up effects due to the lighting and face curvature. By doing this, we can synthesize a wider range of effects realistically than the previous methods. To do this, the information about lighting information together with the normal vectors on all pixels over the face region in the input image. Since the previous methods that compute lighting information and normal vectors require relatively heavy computation cost, we introduce an approach to approximate lighting information using cascade pose regression process and normal vectors by transforming, rendering, and warping a standard 3D face model. The proposed method consumes much less computation time than the previous methods. In our experiment, we show the proposed approximation technique can produce naturally looking virtual make-up effects.

  • The background of single animal figures was originated from those northern mounted nomadic groups, which was Scythe style Culture. The art of the nomads working in the Scythian idiom was small in size and essentially decorative in intention, yet practically every object which can be associated with any unit in this group of people possesses many of the attributes essential to a real work of art. Clarity of conception, purity of form, co-ordination of rhythm and balance, and not least, an understanding and respect for the material employed were triumphantly blended by the Eurasian nomads to produce a distinctive style. In Scythian art the multitude of animal representations well illustrates the reoccupation of this nomadic people with animals in their environment. Usually only wild animals are represented. Commonly depicted are: stags and deer, lions or other large cats, eagles, birds heads (perhaps of ravens), griffins, snakes, hares, fish, goats, rams, boars, moose (elk), yak, sheep and bears. The occasional exception to the wild animal rule is domesticated horses-important because the Scythians were horse bleeders and their whole culture revolved around their dependence on the horse. The nomads had little reason to create object in honour of gods or men, but they had an instinct for beauty and the wish to surround themselves with the animal forms in which they had come to delight The Scytians tried to combine in a single rendering all the salient points of the animal they were delineating. They archived considerable success in the difficult task of showing in a single image the various and often incompatible poses assumed by a single animal in the course of its life. Zoomorphic motifs were used not simple for decorative effect, but to trim the object into amulets, with magical power to assist in hunting, and to protect the owner from harm.

  • We propose a stylized facial illustration method that expresses important features of a target highly abstractly but effectively from a human facial picture. Our method first detects facial components such as eyes and their associated regions from an input image, and then uses the detected results to render a stylized portrait. Our illustration method mainly consists of two key components and additional components: a tonal illustration component to draw simple tones, a line illustration component to draw a set of lines, and additional illustration components for hair, clothes. etc. The illustration part of the proposed method aims at illustrating features of a target effectively in a highly abstracted way like hand-drawn paintings. In order to achieve this goal, our method adopts an oriental black-ink painting style, which expresses objects effectively with empty spaces and simple expressions such as abstracted lines.

  • The establishment of a production pipeline imported 30 computer graphics is suggested in this paper to improve the efficiency of existing production pipeline of clay animation. The point is that the process of building clay characters that remains labor intensive among the existing procedures is replaced by the process of creating computer generated characters. In order to create characters out of clay by means of 30 computer graphics, a diffuse map and displacement map are made of an oil-based clay according to the UVW coordination of polygon modeling, which is the same color and kind of clay used to make a clay character. In addition, a panoramic HDRI recording system is developed to record the lighting information of shooting environment for miniature sets, which is imported in 3D computer graphic tools as digital light source. On account of the new production pipeline, a hyper realistic rendering image can be produced, and at the same time it improves the traditional pipeline of stop motion animation that is know-how based procedure of a complete artist by the engineering approach to the automatic process.

  • On multimedia teleconferencing system existing a number of participants, face of the participants can beperceived by visual image. However, differentiation of each participant's voice and spaciousness sense are very hard since voice of all participants is processed with one dimensional data. In this paper, we implemented three dimensional audio rendering system using the HRTF(Head Related Transfer Function) and distance sense reproduction method and determined the optimal location of the participants for teleconferencing system. In the results of the listening test using elevation and azimuth angle, we showed that directional perception of the azimuth angles were better than that of the elevation angles. Specially, we showed that participant location using the HRTFS of the azimuth angle 10" , 90" , 270" and350" was efficient in teleconferencing system existing four participants. We also proposed that distance cue was used for enhancement of the reality and location of many participants more than five.ipants more than five.

  • For the color offset printing, it starts with input of data. The past days, drum scanner or flat scanner used to input of data, but now it changes gradually into using of digital camera because digital camera become popular. The high quality digital camera saves as a data(RAW format), sRGB which have built in digital camera, or Adobe RGB format. sRGB of ICC(International Color Consortium) profile is a standard color gamut of digital camera. Distribution of color gamut in sRGB is less than Adobe RGB have a distribution in ICC profile. sRGB also can not be expressed in some specific part, because distribution of color gamut in sRGB is not able to cover all parts in ICC Profile of international standards CMYK. It is more popular to use Adobe RGB than sRGB to do high quality offset printing and software basis color setting in Europe and Japan. In spite of this data basis, there is a difficulty of doing color correction between the color proofing prints and the final prints. To see how the software color setting effects to RGB data, this thesis will use Gretag Macbeth ColorChecker 24 patch which has the most general natural color chart to compare sRGB and Adobe RGB to check the differences of color changes. It will use the several factors that came out from the process of making ICC Profile to figure out the optimum In-house profile. It also compares the differences of using matt paper and glossy paper to do best quality color proof offset printing, and how the Rendering Intent effects the proof print.

  • The objective of this study is to develop naturalistic knit designs inspired by Yann Arthus-Bertrand's works. For this purpose, we examined the present style of naturalism and history of naturalism though literature research, and then developed designs. The results are as follows: First, as scientific realism originated from a philosophical concept was adopted in literature and other genres, its meanings have been altered and comprehensively expanded according to the genres of which the term is being used. Naturalism of the modern times carries strong message of ecology and environmental protection. Second, the modern naturalism in fashion is manifested in expressing the image of nature and plasticity, instead of a mere use of the natural materials. As the aspects of ecology become more significant, elements of retro, recycle, or grunge are additionally integrated in fashion. Third, Naturalism expressed in knitwear is similar with that of other clothing in terms of color and textile, however, silhouette in knitwear is unique in its general naturalness and flowing effects. Embroidery, knitting of Jacquard and Intarsia, or crochet is used to express forms of objects from nature. Visual effects regardless of the contents of yarn, and pattern effects after knitting by using yarn, have influences on the material. Forth, the eight knit designs in expressing naturalism presented in this study took a motif from the works of Yann Arthus-Bertrand. They were created by rendering rhythm of the landscape with emphasis on brown color. Contour and surface touch were expressed through yarn and the structure of knit.

  • We have developed a hand-held probe for an ophthalmic OCT system. The hand-held probe for imaging was designed to be compact and portable. The cornea and retinal images were acquired by replacing the objective lens at the front of the probe. To verify the performance of the hand-held OCT probe, we acquired two dimensional OCT image of the rat eye in vivo and reconstructed three dimensional rat eye rendering images. In vivo 3D OCT images were showed distinct structural information in the posterior and anterior chamber with minimal motion artifacts. Thereby, OCT imaging speed is suitable for an dynamic in vivo experiment.
