Techniques related to 360 VR service have been developed to improve the quality of the stitched image and video, where illumination compensation scheme is one of the important tools. Among the conventional illumination compensation algorithms, Gain-based compensation and Block Gain-based compensation algorithms have shown the outstanding performances in the process of making panorama picture. However, those are ineffective in the 360 VR service, because the disparity between illuminations of the multiple pictures in 360 VR is much more than that in making the panorama picture. In addition, the number of the pictures to be stitched in 360 VR system is more than that in the conventional panorama image system. Thus, we propose a preprocessing tool to enhance the illumination compensation algorithm so that the method reduces the degradation in the stitched picture of 360 VR systems. The proposed algorithm consists of 'color compensation' and 'illumination compensation'. The simulation results show that the proposed technique improve the conventional techniques without additional complexity.
EOC (Electro-Optical Camera) of KOMPSAT-1 (Korea Multi-Purpose SATellite) has been producing land imageries of the world since January 2000. After image data are acquired by EOC, they are transmitted from satellite to ground via X-band RF signal. Then, EOC image data are generated and pass through radiometric and geometric corrections to generate standard products of EOC images. After radiometric correction on EOC image data, Modulation Transfer Function (MTF) compensation is applicable on EOC images with user's request for better image quality. MTF compensation is concerned with filtering EOC images to minimize the effect of degradations. For Image Receiving and Processing System (IRPE) at KOMPSAT Ground Station (KGS), Wiener filter is used in MTF compensation for EOC images. If the Pointing Spread Function (PSF) of EOC system is known, signal-to-noise power spectra ratio is the only factor in the determination of Wiener filter. In this paper, MTF compensation in IRPE at KGS is introduced and MTF compensated EOC 1R images are generated using Wiener filters with various signal-to-noise power spectra ratios. MTF compensated EOC 1R images are correlated with EOC 1R images for observing linearities between them. As a result, the effect of signal-to-noise power spectra ratio is shown on MTF compensated EOC 1R images.

MTF compensated EOC images are compared with original EOC 1R images to observe correlations between them. As a result, the effect of SNR power spectra ratio on MTF compensated EOC images is shown.

The traditional block-based motion compensation methods in frame rate up-conversion (FRUC) only use a single uniquely motion vector field. However, there will always be some mistakes in the motion vector field whether the advanced motion estimation (ME) and motion vector analysis (MA) algorithms are performed or not. Once the motion vector field has many mistakes, the quality of the interpolated frame is severely affected. In order to solve the problem, this paper proposes a novel joint overlapped block motion compensation method (8J-OBMC) which adopts motion vectors of the interpolated block and its 8-neighbor blocks to jointly interpolate the target block. Since the smoothness of motion filed makes the motion vectors of 8-neighbor blocks around the interpolated block quite close to the true motion vector of the interpolated block, the proposed compensation algorithm has the better fault-tolerant capability than traditional ones. Besides, the annoying blocking artifacts can also be effectively suppressed by using overlapped blocks. Experimental results show that the proposed method is not only robust to motion vectors estimated wrongly, but also can to reduce blocking artifacts in comparison with existing popular compensation methods.

The objective of this study was to determine the influence of women's attitudes toward women's underwear on image-creation efficacy and appearance management attitude. A total of 405 surveys of women working at an industrial complex in the Daegu-Kyoungbuk area were used for data analysis. Frequency, factor analysis, reliability analysis, and regression analysis were used for data analysis. The findings were as follows. The sub-factors of women's attitudes regarding women's underwear were found to be 'aesthetics/body-style compensation', 'ostentation', 'functionality', and 'manner estimation' and the sub-factors of image-making efficacy were 'display confidence', 'face-image confidence' and 'display ability'. Appearance management attitude had factors such as total coordination, weight management, skin management, and pursuit of change. Aesthetics/body-style compensation, functionality, and ostentation, which were sub-variables of attitudes toward underwear, had a significant influence on image-creation efficacy. Aesthetics/body-style compensation and ostentation had significant influences on appearance management attitude. Aesthetics/body-style compensation was found to have a significant influence on all sub-variables of both image-creation efficacy and appearance management attitude.

Middle age is the time of the most important meaning in life and also the time of physical and mental change, which offers new social activities for self-development. Middle-aged women form the major consumer class in current clothing industry, but few have been performed on this so far. The researcher studied in many aspect on the clothes which middle-aged women need to wear during this period of change. Thus this study is executed to examine what benefits middle-aged women pursue in clothing attitudes and the relationship among clothing pursuit benefit and their somatotype compensation and image orientation. The research performed the theoretical study and practical study simultaneously. The subjects are 238 middle-aged women between 35 and 49 years old in September, 2004. The results of this study are as follows: 1. The attitude of women's clothing patterns in relation with image consist of two factor structures. One is the body image and the other is the appearance image. 2. As a result of researching the attitude for choosing clothes of each body group by Rohrer index, the women with gross body group take a top priority for the lower-body compensation, while the women with slim body group take a top priority for volume compensation. 3. As a result of researching the cognitive somatotype group's attitude for choosing clothes, gross body group takes a top priority for lower-body compensation and upper-body compensation. 4. As a result of researching the relationship between real somatotype and cognitive somatotype by Rohrer index, middle-aged women think of themselves as being fatter than present state. And choosing the clothes, the body misunderstanding group of women usually show that they consider more compensation than the normally body understanding group. 5. The evaluation on real somatotype, cognitive somatotype, ideal somatotype influences on the body cathexis.

In this paper, we propose the edge compensation algorithm which connects the adjacent edges without losing the information of the skeletons on the edge image. The proposed edge compensation algorithm is composed of succeeding two steps. In the first step, the uplifted image is obtained by uplifting the edge image repeatedly. The next step is to extract the edge image from the uplifted image using the skeleton extraction algorithm. Experimental results show that the proposed method connects the adjacent edges without the distortion of the original edge information compared to the traditional method.

This paper presents a technique for motion compensation of ISAR(Inverse SAR) images for a moving target. If a simple fourier transform is employed to obtain ISAR image for a moving target, the image is usually blurred. These images blurring problem can be solved with the time-frequency transform. In this paper, motion compensation algorithms of ISAR image such as STFT(Short Time Fourier Transform), GWT(Gabor Wavelet Transform) are described. In order to show the performances of each algorithm, we use scattering wave of the ideal point scatterers and simulated MIG-25 to obtain motion compensated ISAR image, and display the resolution of STFT and GWT ISAR image.
Underwater archaeology relies heavily on photography and video image recording during surveillances and excavations like ordinary archaeological studies on land. All underwater images suffer poor image quality and distortions due to poor visibility, low contrast and blur, caused by differences in refractive indices of water and air, properties of selected lenses and shapes of viewports. In the Yellow Sea (between mainland China and the Korean peninsula), the visibility underwater is far less than 1 m, typically in the range of 30 cm to 50 cm, on even a clear day, due to very high turbidity. For photographing 1 m x 1 m grids underwater, a very wide view angle (180°) fisheye lens with an 8 mm focal length is intentionally used despite unwanted severe barrel-shaped image distortion, even with a dome port camera housing. It is very difficult to map wide underwater archaeological excavation sites by combining severely distorted images. Development of practical compensation methods for distorted underwater images acquired through the fisheye lens is strongly desired. In this study, the source of image distortion in underwater photography is investigated. We have identified the source of image distortion as the mismatching, in optical axis and focal points, between dome port housing and fisheye lens. A practical image distortion compensation method, using customized image processing software, was explored and verified using archived underwater excavation images for effectiveness in underwater archaeological applications. To minimize unusable area due to severe distortion after distortion compensation, practical underwater photography guidelines are suggested.

In this paper, camera modules and lens's images were analyzed for the compensation of distortion image by wide angle lens based WDR(Wide Dynamic Range) with high resolution sensor(2-Mega CMOS Image sensor). Due to wide angle ($176^{\circ}$) of designed wide angle camera modules, the compensation result of distorted image was analyzed, and the application of these modules was proposed for smart NUX(Natural User eXprience).
