  • In order to design and develop a spark ignition engine, many studies must be preceded about the characteristics of thermal flow. For measurement of transient wall temperature thin film thermocouples of Bendersky type were manufactured and these probes were fixed into the wall of combustion chamber. Surface wall temperatures were measured in experiments of various engine speeds. Transient heat fluxes were calculated from the wall temperature measurements. Pressure was measured from combustion chamber using pressure transducer and gas temperatures were calculated using the state equation of ideal gas. And instantaneous heat transfer coefficients were obtained. It will be the basic data for the formulae of instantaneous heat transfer coefficients.

  • In this paper, stabilizer which maintains the mixture ratio of gas generator of LRE has been introduced. Design criterion for the ideal performance of stabilizer was derived. Significant parameters on the performance of stabilizer were identified through mathematical model and gas generator system analysis. Also, simulation and test results of the gas generator system showed fair agreement, thus proving the validity of the mathematical model of the stabilizer.

  • A considerable deal of work has been carried out to get an insight into the gas-solid suspension flows and to specify the particle motion and its influence on the gas flow field. In this paper an attempt is made to develop an analytical model to study the effect of nozzle inlet/exit pressure ratio, particle/gas loading and the particle diameter effect on gas-solid suspension flow. The effect of the particle/gas loading on the mass flow, Mach number, thrust coefficient and static pressure variation through the nozzle is analyzed. The results obtained show that the presence of particles seems to reduce the strength of the shock wave. It is also found that smaller the particle diameter is, bigger will be the velocity as bigger particle will have larger slip velocity. The suspension flow of smaller diameter particles has almost same trend as that of single phase flow with ideal gas as working fluid. Depending on the ambient pressure, the thrust coefficient is found to be higher for larger particle/gas loading or back pressure ratio.

  • Theoritical principles about the real gas equation of state are investigated and comparisons for the thermophysical properties of oxygen, hydrogen, and methane as the propellants of liquid rocket engine are carried out for the various conditions of pressure and temperature including supercritical conditions. The properties obtained using the real gas equation of state(Soave modification of Redlich-Kwong, Peng-Robinson equation of state, and extended corresponding states principle) have been compared with the results of applying the ideal gas equation of state. Differences of thermophysical properties among the models specifically at the liquid phase regime and their error ranges are addressed.

  • Self-pressurization of cylindrical container of cryogen is numerically analyzed. The container is axi-symmetric and heated from side wall with constant heat flux. Natural convection by external heat flux is studied numerically using finite difference method. Oxygen, nytrogen and hydrogen are working fluids in this paper. Liquid is considered incompressible fluid and vapor is assumed to behave as gas meeting with virial equation of gas. The Second virial coefficients of gas are obtained from Lennard-jones model. The important variables which have effects on self-pressurization are external heat flux, heat capacity of wall and initial ullage in container. The most important variable of them is external heat flux. The pressure rise calculated from the virial gas model is slightly different from that calculated using Ideal gas model for oxygen.

  • In the present study, natural convection over a heat sink with a horizontal circular base and rectangular fins was numerically analyzed. To calculate natural convection heat transfer, the assumptions of ideal gas and laminar flow were made for air. Flow patterns around the heat sink were chimney-like. The resultant temperature distribution on the circular base appeared almost uniform. Parametric studies were performed to compare the effects of fin length, fin height, the ideal number of fins, and heat flux on the average temperature of a heat sink and the average heat transfer coefficient from the heat sink array. Correlation to predict the average Nusselt number was presented.

  • We study a mixture of ideal gases by use of recently developed methods in continuum thermodynamics of irreversible processes. A complete form of the free energy function and the gas law for each component are derived directly from an entropy production inequality by assuming that: (1) Constitutive functions depend on the mass densities, the diffusion velocities, the temperature and its gradient only. (2) Phenomenological coefficients appearing in an extra entropy flux are material constants. (3) The internal energy density per unit mass is independent of the total mass density (Joule).

  • In whole world consciousness of environment maintenance have increased very quickly for the end of the 20th century. To use and disuse toxic substances have been controled at the field of industry. Also the field of lighting source belong to environmental control. And in the future the control will be strong. In radiational mechanism of fluorescence lamp mercury is the worst environmental problem and root. In the mercury free lighting source system the Xe gas lamp is one type. And the Ne:Xe and Ne:Ar mixed gas lamp improve firing voltage of Xe gas lamp. Purpose of this study is to understand ideal mixing-ratio of Ne:Xe and Ne:Ar gas by electron temperature and electron density for mercury free lamp. Before ICP was designed, basic parameters of plasma, which are electron temperature and electron density, were measured and calculated by single-Langmuir probe. Property of electron temperature and electron density were confirmed by changing ratio of Ne:Xe and Ne:Ar.

  • The purpose of this study was to find the difficulties and problems in the carbon dioxide production experiment and to suggest the device for the improvement. Many students have misconception for the smell of carbon dioxide. I found that the smell of carbon dioxide of producting through the experiment didn't concern with the quantity of calcium carbonate. I certificated that the smell of carbon dioxide was related with the concentration of hydrochloric acid. I built two trap applicaing suction in the gas production device to exclude fully the smell of carbon dioxide. So the smell of carbon dioxide was not present by passing the two trap. To find the ideal experimental conditions I perform the experiment step by step. As the result enough carbon dioxide to use for the property experiment was collected under the condition that is 60 mL of 3 molarity hydrochloric acid and 30 g calcium carbonate. I certificated to mesuring flowing quantity of carbon dioxide using the flow meter of carbon dioxide. In the improvement experiment of the property of carbon dioxide, I proposed the experiment device regarding as spreading of the gas and children's interest. To improve the problem of gas production experiment, I proposed the gas certification device using a thread.

  • Electrolyte-supported symmetric Ni-YSZ cermet electrodes of ca. $23{\mu}m$ were prepared by screenprinting and the impedance was measured as a function of humidity from 2% to 90% balanced in $H_2$ at a total flow rate of 50 sccm. The Ni felt current collector of 1 mm thickness exhibited a Gerischer-like gas concentration impedance in the low frequency range, which was similarly observed in the cermet-supported solid oxide cells, while the Pt paste collector exhibited only electrochemical polarization. The electrochemical polarization of both samples was modeled by a non-ideal diffusion-reaction transmission line model including CPEs with ${\alpha}$= 0.5. In the case of the Pt paste collector, all the Bisquert parameters exhibited humidity dependence to the -1/2 power, supporting a non-faradaic chemical reaction mechanism at three phase boundaries. Consequently, the surface diffusivity and reaction rate increased linearly with humidity. Less pronounced humidity dependence and somewhat lower utilization length with an Ni felt collector can be attributed to the diffusion-limited gas flow through the collector.
