  • A relay is the one of small electrical components for automobiles and used for industry widely. We have developed the automation system for relay assembly and test to make it improve the productivity and decrease the man power. In order to determine the objective process of automation, we investigated 6 small and medium sized-enterprises and 1 greate sized-enterprise producing relays. And, we selected 2 model enterprises of them. One of the two is the system to develop. The scope of our study is the analyse of the conventional workcell, the determination of the system specification, the design of the system layout, the determination of the system cycle time, the design of the system mechanism, and the development of the controller for the system. We think that the developed system may be solve the technical and the economical problems interrupted efficiential automation of domastic small and medium sized-enterprises, and improve the international competitive power.

사교육서비스 분야에서의 BSC 모델 개발 및 전략실행방안에 관한 연구 (A Study on BSC development and Strategy execution plan for Private education service field)

  • Purpose: This study aims to overcome the problem of private education market environment which is polarized into commercialized large private education institutions and small and medium sized private education institutions in a poor business environment, and develop systematic performance measurement model applicable for small and medium sized private education institutions. Methods: To develop the BSC which measures financial and non-financial indicator in a balanced manner and introduce the BSC into private education institutions that contain conflicting goals "EDUCATION" and "PROFIT". In particular, Utilizing the methodology of AHP, the priority of strategies and execution assignments are derived. Results: BSC model was developed and introduced by cooperating with executives of the private education institution. Moreover, the study permits to achieve the strategy, enterprise-wide vision and mission by deriving strategy map and applying it to the private education institution. To measure the performance of BSC model instruction, KPI corresponding to the strategic objectives of each perspective was derived. Conclusion: BSC model generally introduces to large-sized companies and public institutions. In this study, BSC model is developed by focusing on small and medium sized private institution. Furthermore, this study is more than simple model development, it makes a connection with achievement of strategic objectives, enterprise-wide vision and mission through strategy map and strategy execution method. Through the developed BSC model and strategy execution method, utilization plan in practice and customized model for private education institutions coexisting profit and non-profit objectives were developed, and academic implications were presented.

Capability in Competing for a National Quality Award among Small and Medium-sized Companies in Taiwan

  • The Taiwan National Quality Award (TNQA) has been conducted for 14 years. However, small and medium-sized companies (SMSCs) rarely win the TNQA. This study undertakes a capability analysis to explore how SMSCs do win the TNQA. A survey instrument involving 149 questions extracted from 'the 2001 Handbook of Standard Criteria for Evaluation of TNQA' is used to measure the capability of SMSCs in competing for the TNQA. The paper concludes with a summary of the essential qualities required by an SMSC if it is to compete successfully for the TNQA.

Master Data Management API for Assembled ERP Tools

  • In this paper, we propose a new model, assembled ERP, to analyze the reason why the small and medium sized companies have a low ERP implementation rate and to solve this. As a result of our analysis, the high initial costs and time required for implementing ERP keep such companies from implementing it as they have relatively limited resources. The assembled ERP model, however, reduces the scale of ERP by developing the ERP for the unique business of each and connecting a few 3rd-Party applications as a module to make ERP for common work. Also it enables easier data utilization by drawing up an API list that connects the 3rd-Party applications to the developed ERP when the user lacks knowledge in the master data of the 3rd-Party applications. Therefore it lets the small and medium sized companies introduce the ERP more easily by reducing the costs for ERP implementation and user training.

  • One of the most important issues in a small and medium sized enterprise (SME) is to identify how to apply IT to the organization so that it maximizes the effectiveness of IT. In general, a large company mainly plans to adopt, implement, and stimulate a new IT in a viewpoint of advanced IT system's capability for maximizing the effectiveness of IT. However, SME requires a totally different approach since SME's situation is different from a large enterprise's one. In this study, we investigate several factors that have an influence on the successful IT adoption and implementation of a SME through the case of Hwacheon. We also find out that CEO's support, CEO-initiating strategic meeting, IT development ability, and organizational compatibility in the introduction stage of IT are relatively more important than those in the implementation stage of IT, whereas IT flexibility, system quality, training and support, overcoming organizational resistance and performance improvement in the implementation stage of IT play critical roles in the IS success. Our results show that the advance of IT may not guarantee the success of IT implementation.

공급자 부품품질 향상을 위한 품질보증시스템 개선방안 (Enhancement of Quality Assurance System for Improving the Quality of Suppliers' Product)

  • A prerequisite for improving the quality of a product is to enhance the quality of its parts supplied from outsourced enterprises. An enterprise certified by ISO 9001 Quality Management System is expected to develop their effective quality assurance system and maintain it through continuous control and improvement, thereby ensuring the good quality of products that they produce. However, it is reported that small and medium-sized enterprises certified by ISO 9001 have difficulty establishing an effective quality assurance system. This study aims to propose a new method of improving a quality assurance system that can be more effective in small and medium-sized enterprises. This study collectively considered requirements specified in several international standards on quality system and the results of expert group brainstorming to identify evaluation areas and items for assessing a quality assurance system. Based on these evaluation areas and items, a set of checklists for diagnosing and improving a quality assurance system was developed. In order to demonstrate the usefulness of the proposed method, this study applied it to ten small and medium-sized enterprises and could identify four approaches for improving their current quality assurance system. The presented improvement method, which consists of establishment of quality goals and quality innovation plan, defective products corrective activities, 4M and design change process, improvement of customer quality information management, is expected to be utilized as a useful tool for the enhancement of the quality assurance system of small and medium-sized enterprises.

중소제조기업 협업지원 시스템의 도입 및 활용 효과 분석 프레임워크 (A Framework for Analyzing the Effectiveness of a Collaboration Support System for Small and Medium-sized Enterprises)

  • Recently, the collaboration among small and medium-sized enterprises(SMEs) has been recognized as an effective competitive tool. As several systems have been developed to boost the collaboration, it is necessary to analyze the effectiveness of the systems in terms of their contribution to enhance operational performance of SMEs through objective and quantitative validation. In particular, the analysis for SMEs rather than large-scaled enterprises has not received much attention due to lack of relevant information and difficulty of collecting data. This paper presents a framework for analyzing the effectiveness of the collaboration support system, called i-manufacturing hub, which has been implemented by Korean government. Identification of influential factors to the effectiveness of collaboration hub, and constructing necessary hypotheses are proposed. To overcome the difficulty in data collection only by means of surveys through subjective questionnaires, we exploit system log data that are generated while SMEs use the system. As an initial phase to analyze the effectiveness through hypothesis validation, we discuss several interesting observations and challenges in the direction of enhancing collaboration among SMEs for better operational performance improvement and more participation in the collaboration hub.

퇴직연금제도 도입의사 영향요인에 관한 연구: 중소기업의 재무요인을 중심으로 (A Study on Affecting Intention to Introduce Retirement Pension System: Focusing on Financial Factors of Small and Medium Enterprise)

  • 퇴직연금은 노후소득 보장체계중 하나이다. 한국은 2016년부터 종업원 수 300인 이상 기업의 경우 의무적으로 퇴직연금을 도입하도록 되어있어 대기업의 퇴직연금 도입비율은 높은 편이나 중소기업의 도입비율은 매우 낮다. 본 연구는 중소기업 퇴직연금 도입의사에 영향을 주는 재무적속성이 무엇인지 살펴봄으로써 정부의 퇴직연금 도입 유도 정책 수립에 방향을 제시해 보고자 한다. 분석결과, 재무적속성중 매출액순이익률은 양(+)의 방향, 자기자본비율은 음(-)의 방향으로 중소기업 퇴직연금 도입의사에 영향을 주는 유의미한 요소로 밝혀졌다. 이에 따라 중소기업 퇴직연금 도입 활성화를 위해 매출액순이익률과 자기자본비율을 우선적으로 고려한 퇴직연금 도입유도 정책 실시가 필요함을 본 연구는 시사하고 있다.

사업체 규모에 따른 근로자 건강수준의 불평등: 제17차 한국노동패널 자료 이용 (Health Disparities among Korean Workers by Enterprise Size: Using Korean Labor and Income Panel Study (17th))

  • Purpose: This study aims to investigate the cross-sectional association of company size and self-rated health using representative data on Korean workers. Methods: We used the data from 2,884 wage workers collected by Korean Labor and Income Panel Study (17th). The association between company size and self-rated health was analyzed using logistic regression with covariates including demographic characteristics, work environment, job satisfaction, and health-related behaviors. Resulst: Odds ratio (OR) for better health status among workers in large-sized company was 1.351 (CI. 1.054~1.731), compared to workers in small-sized company. We performed three separate models stratified by firm size (small, medium, and large companies). Occupation variables showed different effect on health depending on firm sizes. OR for better health of white-color job (referred to blue-color job) was 1.693 in medium-sized company model but it was 0.615 in large company model. OR for better health of the workers working shift work showed 0.606 in large company model but it was not significant in small and medium company models. Conclusion: We found that small-sized company workers have significantly poor self-rated health compared to large-sized firm workers. This study revealed that there exist differences among health related factors depending on firm sizes.

중소기업의 생산정보화시스템(MES) 구축 방안에 관한 연구 (A Case Study of Manufacturing Execution System Implementation in a Medium-sized Enterprises)

  • Manufacturing Execution System (MES) is a system that companies can use to measure and control critical production activities. This paper shows case study of implementation of MES (Manufacturing Execution System) and its methodology in a medium sized production company. This study focused on two important things in MES implementation. First, it provides critical success factors (CSFs) and construction method for success of MES implementation. Second, it presents guidelines for MES implementation in small and medium-size company. Some of the benefits with regards to MES implementation and its results are introduced in the end of this paper.
