In spite of the perceived importance of sustainable development in society, we still fails to reflect consistently our best understandings about the sustainable development and education for sustainable development. The purpose of this study is to inquire into the orientation of education for sustainable development in the 21st Century knowledge-based society. The results of this study can be summarized as follows. First, it is necessary to provide newly defined sustainable development which enables us to transform unsustainable way of life into environmentally sound and sustainable development. Education for sustainable development is defined as a basic education that have a mature understanding among the human, nature and wisdom of life. Second, we should emphasis on a system thinking, basic communication in order to encourage education for sustainable development as a learning strategy. Third, we should suggest both individual and community learning education for sustainable development. Finally, we develope knowledge system of sustainable development in accordance with the theories of knowledge management. In conclusion, it is necessary to approach education for sustainable development in the context of the knowledge-based society and the information age. It enables us enhance a new awareness and attitudes towards sustainable development. Furthermore, it is expected to develop an education program for the sustainable development of understanding.

This study was planned to define the concept and the patterns of the fields for environmental education through the theory review about the fields for environmental education that were important at school environmental education for field-experience learning, and to survey the using status of the fields for environmental education and the awareness of teachers who have been teaching practically students environmental education in school through the questionnaire. The results derived from this study were as follows ; First, the use of the fields for environmental education in environmental education is necessary aspect of the importance of field-experience learning and the environmental education strategy through personalization of environment and is essential to the substantiality of school environmental education. The concept of the fields for environmental education is defined that it is used as place(space) for environmental education, is located most outdoor space, promote students the concern and consciousness about environment. The patterns of the fields for environmental education may be classified the field for nature observation learning surrounding, the fields for nature observation and field survey, the fields for visit and field trip, and the fields for experience and participation by the contents and the purpose of educational program. Second, according to the results of the teacher's awareness survey, most responded teachers gave an affirmative answer about the necessity of practical use of the fields for environmental education, and it was used mainly in special lecture, weekend, and legal holiday. Also, it was surveyed that time for using the fields was brought as the most serious obstacle by teachers. In particular, teachers preferred the environmental education fields for experience and participation above all others. Third, from the results about the using status of the fields for environmental education, school environmental education mostly have been taught in indoor classroom, school landscape(school grounds) was evaluated the most easily useful the fields for environmental education in formal lecture, because it can solve the lack of time. Also, it was proved that eco-park, stream, and river were fit for the field-experience learning with small students group.

The fundamental hypothesis of health promotion is that the modification of behavior to better fit practices associated with health will in fact increase health and longevity. Therefore, it is in general said that the most important thing to health promotion is the practice of health education which can result in the change of human behaviors. The National Health Promotion Fund is the financial resource of health promotion programs in Korea. The budget for health education of the fund accounted for 0.58 billion won out of the health promotion budget, 29.5 billion won in 1998. It has been the smallest out of 4 categories of health promotion programs from 1998 to 2000. What is worse, only 0.26 billion won was spent on health education in fact. It was less than a half of the budget for health education. In addition to it, the budget for the development of health education material was 0.17 billion won in 1998. But it was not spent on the project at all. And the project of educational material development got no budget in 1999. The Korean health promotion needs to enlarge the portion of community health education services drastically in order to attain the proper behavioral change of the people in the future.

The purpose of this study was to find out the effects of a career education program during a discretional activity class in elementary school. It established the following questions to achieve the objectives. First, does a career education program In a discretional activity class have an effect on elementary schooler's career maturity? Second, does a career education program in a discretional activity class make an influence on elementary schooler's self-concept? To settle these subjects, it assigned two classes in 5th grade of A elementary school, city of Anyang, Gyeonggi-do, experiment group and control group. It was applied the experiment group a career education program. As for measurement, it was used career maturity level test for elementary and middle schoolers' and 'the self-concept diagnostic test'. It was examined career maturity and self-concept of the groups through the pre-test post-test, applying cross-tabulation analysis to career choices pattern and t-test to career maturity level and self-concept. The results were as follows: First, students of experiment group showed meaningful differences in career choice pattern, career choice attitude, and career choosing skills compared to control group, and that presented a career education program made a positive impact on elementary schooler's career maturity. Second, it showed that there was a significant difference in self-concept, showing students of experiment group took better place. it is believed that a career education program had a potent influence on the self-concept of elementary students.

The purpose of the study is to search for on teaching and learning to improve creativity in home economics education. It has been important for students to formulate and solve problems about home and family through creative thinking, home economics educators have to provide these teaching and learning methods. This research's methods were to search the importance of creativity in home economics education and the relevance between home economics and creativity, then to find the problems of some recent creativity education and formulate the assumption for creativity education in home economics education. Finally, it was presented the examples of teaching and learning to improve creativity. In above the process, we have to recognize as belows; 1. The teaching and learning methods in home economics education need the creativity for formulating problems and finding the elements which effect on practical problems. 2. It is properly selected to some teaching and learning methods in home economics education, and many methods to improve creativity may be included the assumptions for self-realization and moral responsibility.

Because of the specificity of subjects belong to middle school curriculum of Home Economics Education of function training is very important. but it pointed out that the existing standards are out-dated, and because of it , it incongruent to our realities. Therefore, whenever the curriculum o education and the national textbook are reorgrnized periodically, the reform of standards of educational materials & facilities must be followed by it. But in my opinion, in korean middle school, especially in Home Economics Education, educational facilities are not reformed at a proper time. Therefore to enhance the qualities of experimentation/practice of Home Economics Education, in the first place, the preparation for the given conditions of standards of educational materials & facilities are needed. But the educational facilities of Home Economics Education have many problem not only in the qualitative aspect but also in the quantitative aspect. And in addition to it, lost of educational facilities which cannot match contents of national textbook of Home Economics Education are exist. Therefore this thesis aims at examining comprehensively the problem of experimentation /practice of experimental materials & facilities of Home Economics Education connect with contents of Home Economics Education, holding several problems of experimentation/practice of Home Economics Education in middle school, grouping ; the principles and ways concerning the innovation experimental materials & facilities of Home Economics Education by which many teachers and students make sure of more efficient teaching/studying, and obtaining basic data which guarantee the ability of innovation concerning problems of the education of experimentation/practice of Home Economics Education. Method are : 1)grasp our educational realities with my original(question). 2)Integrate/analyse results of 1) 3)check the frequency, percentage with methods of X$^2$-test, T-test, and ‘One-way Analysis of Variances’. 4)suggest my own alternative proposal.

This paper has checked the position and roles of IT(Information Technology) for future society greeting the open campus in 21 century. This theme has described the organization between IT related department and school for the functional realization of the center (laboratory) based module type muti semester education system, and has proposed an unique direction of the education development that is shown the relationship between virtual education and open education system suitable for new era. This study aims to explore the present condition of job preparation of students in the department of physical education in depth so that convergence talents with professional physical education abilities can be trained and physical education majors can establish themselves in adverse conditions such as the reduction of the entrance quota and a lack of cases of research on job training in the departments related to physical education by the college evaluation of the Ministry of Education and to present a direction of career training. In order to analyze the relationships among sub-factors according to the level of perception of physical education-related majors, methods such as MANOVA and correspondence analysis were used. The results obtained through the research are as follows: First, it turned out that it is important to carry out career training in advance, considering physical education-related college students' aptitude and talent by grade. Second, it turned out that it is important to alleviate the problem of employment barrier in the preparation for career fast. Third, it turned out that it is important for us all to make efforts to expand the types of physical education-related employment and provide opportunities.

In this paper, I proposed a way of improving computer education in elementary, middle and high schools. I firstly analyzed the importance of computer education by researching an index of a national economic condition, People's IT use frequency and the demand for computer education by students and parents. Secondly, I researched the condition of computer education in elementary, middle and high schools. Finally, I analyzed problems of current computer education and proposed three way of improving computer education in elementary, middle and high schools.

This study examines the influence of early English education on children's bilingual language development to see whether the early exposure to English education affects children's competencies of both English and Korean. Based on this purpose, it attempts to examine whether it supports additive or subtractive bilingualism. The competencies of both English and Korean of the children with early English education were, therefore, compared with those of the children without it, and the relation between the two competencies was also studied. For this research, two different groups of children - one with 48 children who attend English kindergarten and the other with 60 children who attend only Korean kindergarten - took PPVT-R in Korean and in English each. The result shows that children with early English education have more English competency than those without it. No significant differences, however, are found in Korean competency between the two groups. The relation between the two competencies proves positive in children with early English education. It can thus be concluded that the effect of early English education is partially positive on children's language development, which may support the additive bilingualism that children's second language can improve without losing their native language competency. In addition, this result will be able to provide for us the direction and the guideline to the policy of foreign language education and early education.
