A Study on Radiation Heat Transfer and the Characteristics of Oxygen Enriched Double Inversed Diffusion Flame (산소부하 이중 역 확산화염의 특성 및 복사열전달에 관한 연구)

  • An Experimental study of oxygen enriched double inversed diffusion flame was conducted to understand the flame characteristics and radiation heat transfer. The infrared radiation meter was used to measure of various combination of fuel, air and pure oxygen. The results show that oxygen enriched double inversed diffusion flame is very effective to increase of thermal radiation and proper addition of pure oxygen in air flow can intensity thermal radiation of flame. And it can be found that oxygen enriched double inversed diffusion flame could give benefits of cost effective and very high energy saving.

  • A Diffusion analysis method is described for the determination of alcohol content in tinctures and spirits and then, the comparison test of the official alcohol number test with the diffusion analysis method has hen carried out. Throughout this experiments, a transformed Widmark apparatus is used. It is found that the diffusion analysis method using the transformed Widmark apparatus is very simple and occapy a small space. One of the most convenient fact is many sample can be analyzed at a time with this apparatus. Experimental data indicate that 95% of alcohol content obtained by the official alcohol number test is found in the diffusion analysis.

  • In mathematical population ecology which is an academic field that studies how populations of biological species change as times flows at specific locations in their habitats, PDE models have been studied in many aspects and found to have different properties from the classical ODE models. And different approaches to PDE type models in mathematical biology are still being tried currently. This article investigate various forms to express diffusion effects and review the history of PDE models involving diffusion terms in mathematical ecology. Semi-linear systems representing the spatial movements of each individual as random simple diffusion and quasi-linear systems describing more complex diffusions reflecting interspecific interactions are studied. Also it introduce a few of important problems to be solved in this field.

Two Pieces Extension of the Bass Diffusion Model (Bass 확산모형의 이분 확장)

  • Bass diffusion model have played a central role in studying the diffusion of the new products since 1969, the year of publication of Bass model. Almost 750 publications based on the Bass diffusion model have explored extensions and applications. Extension models can be divided into two types. One is the model containing marketing-mix variables and the other is the model containing additional parameters. This paper presents another extension model of the latter type. Our model allows the time varying coefficients of innovation and imitation. Two pieces approximation of time varying coefficients is introduced and it's parameters are estimated based on NLS(Non-Linear Mean Square) method. Empirical studies are performed and the results show that our model is superior to the basic Bass model and the NUI(Non-Uniform Influence) model which is the well-known extension of the Bass model. The model developed in this paper is, also, transformed into the Bass model with the ready potential adopters in order to enhance the descriptive power.

  • Due to the self-diffusion of nuclear spins, the edge of phantoms is enhanced in the magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), especially in the case of microscopy [1]. According to several published works, theory has been established that the edge enhancement is caused by the motion narrowing around bounded regions due to diffusions of nuclear spins during data acquisition. It is found, however, that the signal decreases due to the diffusion attenuation and image is distorted as edge of the image is sharpened. In this paper, we wilt investigate this signal loss during data acquisition and its effects on image, i.e., image edge enhancement due to the diffusion phenomenon. This result is new and different from the previously discussed edge enhancement due to the diffusion, namely, by motion narrowing effect or spin bouncing effect at the boundary.

  • A lesion that is hyperintense on diffusion-weighted imaging (DWI) and hypointense on the apparent diffusion coefficient (ADC) map is a characteristic magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) finding in acute ischemic infarction. In some cases, however, these findings can persist for a few months after infarct onset. It is thought that these finding reflect the different evolution speeds of the infarcted tissue. We report a patient with a right middle cerebral artery territory infarction with persistent hyperintensity on DWI and hypointensity on the ADC map for over 8 months. To our knowledge, this is the most persistent case of hyperintensity lesion on DWI and the serial MRI images of this patient provide important information on the evolution of infarcted tissue.

  • Chloride ion diffusion is the most important thing of occuring deterioration in RC structure. So it is important to decide the precise chloride ion diffusion coefficient in order to predict the durability life in RC structure. The purpose of this study is to analyze the established data, which are restricted by chloride diffusion coefficient, and to calculate chloride ion diffusion coefficient using RCPT test. To examine the prediction of the concrete structure durability by an FEM analysis and the chloride diffusion coefficient as a variable. Each surface finishing materials were effective on the increment of chloride penetration resistance, but showed a little different effect depending on the type of surface finishing material.

  • The studies on chloride diffusion of concrete have been done so far by many researchers. However, there are few studies on the effects of other attacks, like carbonation, on chloride diffusion properties. In this study, the experiments are carried out focusing on this by varying cement type, water to cement ratio and replacement of fly ash of concrete. The results show that carbonation attacks do not affect greatly chloride diffusion properties of plain concrete, while the different tendencies are exhibited for fly ash concrete. Therefore, it is desirable to consider the effects of carbonation attacks on the chloride diffusion model to predict accurately the penetration of chloride ion fly ash is partially replaced for cement.

  • The characteristics of proton-diffused $LiNbO_3$ optical waveguides with self-aligned $SiO_2$-cladding are reported. When the proton diffusion occurs, the $SiO_2$-cladding limits the lateral diffusion of protons by out-diffusion of protons in unclad region. Proton indiffusion in depth direction is promoted by inhibition of out-diffusion in clad region. Consequently, the mode profile in depth direction can be nealy symmetric. The extent of the proton exchange was observed by measuring the infrared absorption peak at about $3500cm^{-1}$. It is confirmed that proton diffusion with $SiO_2$-cladding has structural excellency.
