Objectives: Although evidence-based medicine (EBM) is a useful method for integrating evidence into the decision-making process of occupational physicians, occupational physicians lack EBM knowledge and skills, and do not have the time to learn the EBM method. In order to enable them to educate themselves at the time and place they prefer, we designed an electronic EBM course. We studied the feasibility and utility of the course as well as its effectiveness in increasing EBM knowledge, skills, and behaviour. Methods: Occupational physicians from various countries were included in a within-subjects study. Measurements were conducted on participants' EBM knowledge, skills, behaviour, and determinants of behaviour at baseline, directly after finishing the course and 2 months later (n = 36). The feasibility and utility of the course were evaluated directly after the course (n = 42). Results: The course is applicable as an introductory course on EBM for occupational physicians in various countries. The course is effective in enhancing EBM knowledge and self-efficacy in practising EBM. No significant effect was found on EBM skills, behaviour, and determinants of behaviour. After the course, more occupational physicians use the international journals to solve a case. Conclusion: An electronic introductory EBM course is suitable for occupational physicians. Although it is an effective method for increasing EBM knowledge, it does not seem effective in improving skills and behaviour. We recommend integrating e-learning courses with blended learning, where it can be used side by side with other educational methods that are effective in changing behaviour.

The purpose of this study is to provide the information for the developing rational curriculum that is necessary in the socio-cultural situation by comparativing and analyzing the library and information science education of India and Pakistan. The conclusions of the study can be summarized as follows: 1) It is desirable that Master's degree course and M. Phil. program in India, Post-graduate diploma course and Master's degree course in Pakistan should be integrated as Master's degree course. 2) It is desirable that the duration of Master's degree course should be extended. 3) The variously expressed papers that represented the same subject or content should be unified. 4) In Bachelor's level, India establishes the various papers of library and information science, but Pakistan offers largely the core papers. 5) It is desirable that papers of historical research, progressive reference service, and information science should established, and introductory papers should be united in introduction to library and information science. 6) In Master's degree course, Indian curriculum is more up-to-date and pertinent than Pakistan's. 7) Each university should establish the papers of types of libraries standing for characteristic of his university, and harmonize library science and information science. 8) The reason that curricula of two countries are different from each other is due to lack of inter-university cooperation and standard of curriculum, therefore it is required a continuing research and effort to su n.0, pplement and reorganize the curriculum.

Product Life cycle Management (PLM) is an indispensable tool for manufactures to develop competitive products in an efficient way. This enlarges the number of participants for product development who should understand PLM for their supporting activities. However, burdens for developing example products, maintaining complex PLM systems and training prerequisite skills for engineering tools such as CAD systems prohibit an efficient introductory course to PLM. This paper proposes a comprehensive introductory course to PLM that bases on general product development process. In addition, it enables participants to build their example products with familiar Lego blocks and to construct 3D CAD assembly models by using predefined 3D elements. The PLM system for the course provides an intuitive and simple user environment for participants to specify their parts lists, associated 3D CAD models, and product structure of example products. Experiences on a class of the course show it is a valid and efficient education and training method for the PLM introduction.
The rapid progress of IT technologies promoted the foundation to offer users 'Any Time, Any Where, Any Service', and wireless internet services made it possible to use wired internet services while traveling. The previous academic administration management system having migrated from wired to wireless was dependent on mobile equipments' platform because of not being constructed on standard surroundings. And in the aspect of faculty system, course coordinator plays an significant role in building curricula and manage them, and finally counseling students with regard to them. But the course coordinator can't afford to advise students on which fields of their faculty fit them and which courses they have to take. We propose a mobile course coordinator system to help students learn profound courses of their major fields. Also the proposed system is implemented by using JAVA and WIPI technology, so that it is platform-independent. A mobile course coordinator system has an inference engine considering not only course trees which tell informations about the courses in every fields, but also personal courses that students have taken. The inference engine calculates three weights, representing the significance of each course considering every fields, the score of prerequisite courses which a student have taken, and the suitability in which department each student fits. When students apply for taking lectures, a mobile course coordinator system recommends them the most suitable courses. A mobile course coordinator system is able to substitute for the course coordinator who is counseling students. And the students with personal cellular phone are able to keep tracking their courses, and improve their knowledge about major with taking courses which the system's inference engine will advice.

Maintenance open spaces and community development in large scale housing development is one of the most important issues. We(UDC) established a resident participation activity for maintenance and use open space with community development in Hachioji New Town from 1997. The purpose of this study is to establish resident participation activities for maintenance and use open space with community development in Hajichioji New Town, and to clarify the characteristics and to on sider about efficiency of the activity. We established Minamino Shizen-Juku as a methodology for maintenance and use open spaces at the same time Hachioji New Town was opened in 1997. The activity has continued by now in 2001. We conducted questionnaire survey to make sure efficiency and characteristics of the activity past three years. Minamino Shizen-Juku (nature friendly lessons) is a resident participation activity in Hachioji New Town. It was established in 1997 as soon as the new town was opened, this year is fifth since it was started. It has three objects. 1)Maintenance and use woody environment, 2) Community development, 3) Continuation and renewal native culture. And it has general course, three special courses and one extra course were established in the activity. 1) General course is an activity participated all of member. It's included farming experience in the native field and seasonal events. 2) Rice growing and woods maintenance course is rice growing and wild wood maintenance in the park as a series of annual farming activities. 3) Benefaction from farm course is started from planting spring vegetable at Mizukoshi(Leader of Minamino Shezen-Juku)'s field. There is the number of participant limit because of the area of the field. 4) Watching nature course is watching seasonal wild flowers, trees, animals and plants to know about native nature. 5) Extra program is programmed to know about native history and tradition. It's planned including participant's ideas. Not member can participate in this course too.
The purpose of this study which was conducted by framing of standardized advanced emergency care instructor qualification course outline and training competent instructor Course development based on following educational principle and it would be expected more improved aspect. Advanced Emergency care Instructor Qualification Course Development (1) based on advanced emergency care instructor job analysis and paramedic job description. (2) Learning of emergency care instructor qualification course is continuous. It is important to begin at the learner's level of knowledge and to relate new learning to information the learner needs. The new course distances of a ship are considered to be the indices to indicate directly her abilities of course altercation. Generally, they have long been calculated by using the maneuvering indices obtained from her Z test. However, at sea actually the maneuvering indices can not sometimes be obtained according to ship's condition or circumstances and the new course distances can not be calculated. To find out other method to calculate the new course distances, in this paper the author analyzed them from a viewpoint of ship motion, and worked out a numerical formula to calculate them easily, using the data of ship's heading test. In order to check whether the presented method is applicable to actual ships or not, the experiment by them were also performed. The results obtained are summarized as follow: 1. The mean difference of the distance between two new course distances by the heading test and the maneuvering indices of the experimental ship was about 0.98% values of the ones by the maneuvering indices, when her heading were 10。, 20。 and 30。, using the rudder angle of 15。. These new course distances were therefore found to be almost same in values of the distance. 2. The mean difference of the distance between two new course distances by the heading test and the observation of experimental ship was about 1.16% values of the ones by the observation, when her headings were 10。, 20。 and 30。, using the rudder angle of 15。. These new course distances were therefore found to be almost same in values of the distance. 3. It is confirmed that the new course distances can be calculated easily by using the method of ship's simple heading test, without the observation or using the maneuvering indices. 4. It is considered to be helpful for the safety of shiphanding to draw curves of new course distances by ship's heading test and utilize them at sea.
Through this study, we aimed to capture the nature of a mathematics method course, called "the Curriculum Development and Teaching Methods in Mathematics Education" which is a pedagogy course for teaching for secondary school mathematics taught at a university located in a south eastern part of South Korea. The research participants include three junior students who took the methods course and a local high school math teacher with two professors. The research has three parts. First, we designed a method course to prepare the junior or senior students for a teaching practicum. The individual students gave a mini lecture about a secondary mathematical topic as a course requirement. Second, the three students watched a classroom video-clip of the high school teacher and analyzed his instruction before the actual classroom visits. Furthermore, by "Let's Learn" program for students, the course was associated with a local community through the students and so that they could visit the teacher's classroom three times to observe his math classroom teaching. The students discussed the difference between their own mini lectures and the actual math classroom teaching to develop an understanding of what it entails to teach an actual math class. Third, the first author supervised the students' activities in the program including their report for it to bring out their findings to the class of the method course. We found out this method course provided the students with the experience of various aspects of actual math lesson as well as learning theories about the pedagogy for teaching for secondary school mathematics. We conclude that this course gives a model for the method course in mathematics education for secondary school mathematics.
