Appropriation is of considerable significance in a cultural trend of thought, as one of the means of realizing the post-modernism period. With the increasing use of appropriation techniques in modern fashion, it is necessary to study the external performance and internal aesthetic value of appropriation in fashion. In the book of cultural appropriation, American scholar James o young divides into three categories of appropriation in culture, namely: object appropriation, content appropriation, and subject appropriation. Based on James O Young's three types of appropriation techniques summarized in the theory of the cultural appropriation, the purpose of this study is through the appropriation of the poncho of traditional Mexican clothing in modern fashion as an example; analyzing the external appropriation characteristics and internal aesthetic significance of different appropriation type. The results are as follows. First, designers take the Originality in modern fashion by expressing Mexican Poncho's form, color, pattern, and material as it is through object appropriation technique. Second, through the Mexican folk poncho's style, designers used these to show the similarity produced by content appropriation in modern fashion. Third, designers used the poncho's design concept or poncho's culture, blending the theme of the collection, adding different color, pattern or materials such as fur, lace, and wool, and presenting a new image different from folk costumes through creative subject appropriation technique.
According to adaptive structuration theory, faithfulness of appropriation(FOA), and consensus on appropriation(COA) are variables for measuring appropriation in use of IT. FOA is the level of interpreting and using the intentions of the IT designers objectively and COA is the level of agreement on ways of using IT among or with user group independently of designers' intention. In traditional theories of IT adoption, computer self-efficacy(CSE), self evaluation on abilities of using computer, has been considered as one of the important individual differences. which would influence on beliefs of using IT. Therefore, considering the relationship among CSE, FOA, COA and attitude, we can hypothesize that CSE would play a moderation varaible among appropriation related variables relationships, FOA-attitude and COA-attitude. The objective of this study is an analysis of CSE's moderation effects in causality relationship among appropriation measuring variables. For this purpose, we propose a research model where there are four hypotheses for moderation effects of CSE on the relationships between appropriation variables. We test these hypotheses by sampling ERP and groupware users. In result, our proposed hypotheses except moderation effect of COA-usefulness are accepted. Main contribution of this study is to identify the relationship between CSE and AST. This study implies that very careful consideration of users' CSE is necessary in order to perform managerial activities based on FOA and COA in IT management department.
Increasingly the institutional theory has been an important theoretical view of decision making process and IT adoption in many academic researches. This study used the institutional theory as a lens through which we can understand the factors that enable the effective appropriation of advanced information technology. It posits that mimetic, coercive, and normative pressures existing in an institutionalized environment could influence the participation of top managers or decision makers and the involvement of users toward an effective use of IT in their tasks. Since the introduction of IT, organizational members have been using IT in their daily tasks, creating and recreating rules and resources according to their own methods and needs. That is to say, the adaptation process of the IT and outcomes are different among organizations. The previous studies on a diverse use of IT refer to the appropriation of technology from the social technology view. Users appropriate IT through not only technology itself, but also in terms of how they use it or how they make the social practice in their use of it. In this study, the concepts of institutional pressure, appropriation, participation of decision makers, and involvement of users toward the appropriation are explored in the context of the appropriation of the mobile electronic medical record system (M-EMRS) in particularly a hospital setting. Based on the conceptual definition of institutional pressure, participation and involvement, operational measures are reconstructed. Furthermore, the concept of appropriation is measured in the aspect of three sub-constructs-consensus on appropriation, faithful appropriation, and attitude of use. Grounded in the relevant theories to appropriation of IT, we developed a research framework in which the effects of institutional pressure, participation and involvement on the appropriation of IT are analyzed. Within this theoretical framework, we formulated several hypotheses. We developed a second order institutional pressure and appropriation construct. After establishing its validity and reliability, we tested the hypotheses with empirical data from 101 users in 3 hospitals which had adopted and used the M-EMRS. We examined the mediating effect of the participation of decision makers and the involvement of users on the appropriation and empirically validated their relationships. The results show that the mimetic, coercive, and normative institutional pressure has an effect on the participation of decision makers and the involvement of users in the appropriation of IT while the participation of decision makers and the involvement of users have an effect on the appropriation of IT. The results also suggest that the institutional pressure and the participation of decision makers influence the involvement of users toward an appropriation of IT. Our results emphasize the mediating effect of the institutional pressure on the appropriation of IT. Namely, the higher degree of the participation of decision makers and the involvement of users, the more effective appropriation users will represent. These results provide strong support for institutional-based variables as predictors of appropriation. These findings also indicate that organizations should focus on the role of participation of decision makers and the involvement of users for the purpose of effective appropriation, and these are the practical implications of our study. The theoretical contribution of this study is lies in the integrated model of the effect of institutional pressure on the appropriation of IT. The results are consistent with the institutional theory and support previous studies on adaptive structuration theory.
This study introduces the construct of group efficacy and combines the construct with the Adaptive Structuration Theory(AST) and user satisfaction framework. Job efficacy and IT efficacy identified as the dimensions of group efficacy are hypothesized to influence faithfulness of appropriation and consensus on appropriation. and then the user satisfaction of knowledge management systems(KMS). Data were collected through a survey of respondents who have the experience of using KMS, and analyzed by using structural equations modelling. The major findings of this study are as follows: First, job efficacy was found to have a positive influence on consensus on appropriation and user satisfaction. Second, IT efficacy was found to have a positive effect on faithfulness of appropriation and consensus on appropriation. Third, faithfulness of appropriation was found to have a positive influence on consensus on appropriation and user satisfaction. Implications of these findings are discussed for researchers and practitioners.

It is the juristocracy in architecture to judge the architectural plagiarism by copyright law. The architectural plagiarism should judge by architectural criticism. From the point of the criticism to discuss architectural plagiarism, the study on artistic imitation should be preceding. The current discussion on architectural plagiarism doesn't consider artistic imitation. Therefore, the result of the discussion only focused on whether the building is plagiarizing or not. From the point of architectural criticism, there should be three considerations, which are creation, imitation, and plagiarism. In the study of Aesthetics, it theorized artistic imitation as the appropriation. With the understanding of the appropriation, contemporary art is developing the discourse on plagiarism beyond the boundary of plagiarism fundamentalism. The purpose of this study is to apply the appropriation to the discussion of architectural plagiarism. The study introduces the discourse on architectural plagiarism rather than judging it with copyright law. There so the study categorized the aesthetics standard of appropriation art, then apply it to the architecture cases. The architecture cases subjects of analysis are the glasshouse by Philip Johnson, National Museum of Australia by Howard Raggatt, and the Meiquan 22nd Century in China. At the point of the appropriation theory, the glasshouse is the only architectural appropriation, and others need to apply the evaluation criteria of plagiarism.
This study explores the process in which employees adopt the information security policy. The results of this study, which surveyed 234 employees in three call centers and four hospitals, show that the employees adapt the information security policy through the social structuring process suggested by the AST model. In particular, this study identifies roles of two appropriation activities (FOA : Faithfulness of Appropriation & COA : Consensus on Appropriation) observed in the social structuring process. Regarding to the interactions between the two appropriation activities, FOA, which indicates a better understanding of the information security policy, is examined as a more critical factor than COA, which indicates the degree of agreement among employees about how to use it. FOA not only has a direct effect on compliance intention toward the information security policy, but also indirectly through COA, whereas COA has only a indirect effect through FOA. This result shows that, in order for a company to successfully implement a new information security policy, it is important for employees to understand its purpose and intention. The adaption of information security policy through two appropriation activities is observed in both hospitals and call centers, but due to the different working environments, there were differences in the preceding variables affecting the appropriation activities. The results of this study are expected to provide guidelines for companies who want to successfully adopt information security policy.
Based on a follow-up study on critical fashion's strategies for object appropriation, this study aims to understand the appropriation of art as a social or cultural phenomenon influencing modern fashion, as well as to analyze and comprehend how to specifically approach the appropriation of critical fashion's letters through the appropriated interpretation. To explain the theoretical background of critical fashion's appropriated interpretation, it examined the related literature and data. Moreover, a fashion book-based literature review and a case study were conducted using sources, such as exhibition books, exhibited works, news, fashion magazines, and fashion sites, to examine letter appropriation strategies. In the critical fashion, the appropriation of subversive letters subverts meanings by providing experiences different from those based on real images of letters, which are displaceable. The appropriation of such subversive letters to challenge the value of modernism aims to subvert social value by bringing and relocating existing objects while focusing on their external forms. The appropriation of referential letters focuses on delineating the distance between the subjects who quote something and the quoted something and reprograms the existing letter objects with an introspective and reflective attitude. In other words, critical fashion designers can effectively express their messages through the appropriation of letters, such as graffiti and typography, which are manifestations of challenge or resistance. Appropriating letters as a creative action pursues unmarginalized humans who possess their existence.
In the era of globalization, cultural appropriation, stemming from the interaction and clash of diverse cultures, remains inadequately defined, leading to controversy in many designs. This study aims to provide a theoretical basis for understanding cultural appropriation by comparing similar concepts and examining specific cases. It proposes methods for the rational use of traditional cultures in apparel to minimize controversy. Firstly, the study investigates the concept of cultural appropriation by exploring differences among related terms. Secondly, it examines instances of cultural appropriation in fashion through form, color, pattern, and material, drawing from papers and Google searches over the past decade. Thirdly, it categorizes representative cases by domestic and foreign fashion brands, analyzing the underlying reasons. The goal is to establish a theoretical foundation for developing culturally sensitive clothing products. Based on the findings, several measures are proposed: understanding and respecting cultural backgrounds through in-depth research on the history and significance of elements; collaborating with cultural groups and consulting experts for feedback; explaining the source of design inspiration to help consumers understand the cultural elements' meanings; avoiding the reinforcement of stereotypes and respecting cultural diversity and complexity; respecting intellectual property and ensuring moral and legal appropriateness; and learning from case studies of other designers' and brands' successes and failures.

Present expression methods have close relations with popular culture in the active acceptance of various kinds of genre. Fashion illustration is no longer limited to sketching garments or technically explaining construction, it is accepted as an art that is expressed by the desire and consciousness of the artist. This study examines the expressional characteristics and effects of photo-image appropriation as an expression method in fashion illustration. The word 'appropriation' (to steal something) is used as euphemism and not meant to be derogatory. The methods of appropriation in art indicate that paintings are not inventions but are self-satisfactory creations that show that the idea of originality is false and that paintings should be uninhibited from the greed of the authority of the genius of artists. In postmodern paintings, the photo-image of appropriation are expressed through the methods of re-photography, photo collage, and photo painting. Photo-image appropriation methods in fashion illustration are re-photography, photo collage, image mixing of photography, drawing, and graphic expression of photography. Fashion illustrators are able to develop expression techniques for expanding a field of expression and enhance the ability of communication through the photo-image appropriation methods.
In this study, in addition to non-technical innovation activities such as organizational innovation and marketing innovation, the purpose of this study was to verify through empirical analysis what mechanism appropriation affects the business performance of a company. Data were collected from the 2018 Korean Business Innovation Survey: Manufacturing Sector and used as analysis data. As a result of the analysis, it was verified through empirical analysis that non-technical innovation improves management performance, appropriability is affected by non-technical innovation, and acts as a mediating factor between management performance. Through this empirical analysis, it was derived that considering appropriation along with non-technical innovation on the recently studied non-technical innovation can be a meaningful study, and since securing such appropriation is an important factor in determining the business performance of a company. Companies need insight into the strategic use of technology protection measures to secure appropriation. As a limitation, it was limited to studies that verify that it has a mediating effect of non-technical innovation and appropriation, and it is considered that it is possible to develop a study that affects the management performance of a company through more various verification methods for future studies.
