  • It is very crucial activities that Korean army have to detect and recognize enemy's locations and types of weapon of their artillery firstly for effective operation of friendly force's artillery weapons during wartime. For these activities, one of the most critical artillery weapon systems is the anti-artillery radar (hereafter; radars) for immediate counter-fire operations against the target. So, in early wartime these radar's roles are very important for minimizing friendly force's damage because arbiters have to recognize a several enemy's artillery positions quickly and then to take an action right away. Up to date, Republic of Korea Army for tactical artillery operations only depends on individual commander's intuition and capability. Therefore, we propose these radars allocation model based on integer programming that combines ArcGIS (Geographic Information System) analysis data and each radar's performances which include allowable specific ranges of altitude, azimuth (FOV; field of view) and distances for target detection, and weapons types i.e., rocket, mortars and cannon ammo etc. And we demonstrate the effectiveness of their allocation's solution of available various types of radar asset through several experimental scenarios. The proposed model can be ensured the optimal detection coverage, the enhancement of artillery radar's operations and assisting a quick decision for commander finally.

국방 M&S의 재사용성과 상호운영성 향상을 위한 임무공간 개념모델(CMMS) 적용방안 (The Research for the Framework of CMMS Method for Improving the Reusability and Interoperability in defense M&S)

  • The defense M&S (Modeling and Simulation) techniques are being used by the ROK Army for developing the efficiency and economics of national defense at operational level. But the problem we have found is the lack of interoperability and reusability in defense M&S. CMMS (Conceptual Model of the Mission Space) method have been used by militaries of some advanced countries for the purpose to solve these problems. Therefore, we have adapted the same approach in this paper as adapted by advanced countries military forces as named it as K-CMMS(Korean-Conceptual Model of the Mission Space). Considering the special ROK factors, we have suggested the framework of K-CMMS. We have tried to search for improving the reusability and interoperability in defense M&S.

  • 한국 육군은 차기 전술통신망언 TICN을 개발 및 구축하고 있는데 전술통신망에서 백본망의 기능은 배우 중요한 역할을 수행하게 될 것이다. 따라서 백본망을 지원하게 될 표준 백본 라우팅 프로토콜의 성능을 비교/분석하는 것은 매우 중요한 요소이며, 본 연구실에서는 가장 대표적인 백본 라우팅 프로토콜인 OSPF와 IS-IS 프로토콜의 성능 분석 및 비교를 통하여 IS-IS 프로토콜이 향후 TICN 백본망 라우팅 프로토콜로 적합하다는 연구를 실시하였고, 본 연구는 이전 연구에 계속하여 TICN 백본망 지원을 위한 IS-IS 프로토콜의 몇몇 프로토롤 변수들의 값을 실험을 통하여 분석하였다.

The prevalence, distribution, and radiological evaluation of dentigerous cysts in a Lebanese sample

  • Purpose: This study was performed to evaluate the prevalence, distribution, and radiological features (as per the Shear classification) of dentigerous cysts in a Lebanese sample. Materials and Methods: It was an epidemiological, cross-sectional, 5-year retrospective study of 137 dentigerous cysts treated at Lebanese Army Dental Departments. The collected data comprised demographic and radiological information corresponding to patients from July 2015 to July 2020. Syndromic cases were excluded. Demographic data and the radiological features of cases were studied and analyzed. Results: Dentigerous cysts were treated in 109 patients (58.7% males and 41.3% females; mean age: 28.3±16.3 years) out of 6,013 patients(52% males and 48% females), with a prevalence of 1.8%. Dentigerous cysts were more commonly found in patients in their second and third decades of life than in older age groups. Of the 109 patients, 22.9% had multiple dentigerous cysts. Of the 137 cysts, 71.5% were mandibular. The most prevalent anatomical location was the posterior mandible, followed by the posterior maxilla. The most commonly involved tooth was the mandibular third molar. Regarding radiological types, the central type was the most common (60.6%), followed by the lateral type (29.2%), and the circumferential type (10.2%). Conclusion: The results of this study were similar to studies of other populations in terms of distribution and features. Multiple non-syndromic dentigerous cysts were more common than reported in other studies, which warrants further clinical studies to reveal previously undetected factors.

Network Traffic Classification Based on Deep Learning

  • As the network goes deep into all aspects of people's lives, the number and the complexity of network traffic is increasing, and traffic classification becomes more and more important. How to classify them effectively is an important prerequisite for network management and planning, and ensuring network security. With the continuous development of deep learning, more and more traffic classification begins to use it as the main method, which achieves better results than traditional classification methods. In this paper, we provide a comprehensive review of network traffic classification based on deep learning. Firstly, we introduce the research background and progress of network traffic classification. Then, we summarize and compare traffic classification based on deep learning such as stack autoencoder, one-dimensional convolution neural network, two-dimensional convolution neural network, three-dimensional convolution neural network, long short-term memory network and Deep Belief Networks. In addition, we compare traffic classification based on deep learning with other methods such as based on port number, deep packets detection and machine learning. Finally, the future research directions of network traffic classification based on deep learning are prospected.

Stability/instability of the graphene reinforced nano-sized shell employing modified couple stress model

  • The current research deals with, stability/instability and cylindrical composite nano-scaled shell's resonance frequency filled by graphene nanoplatelets (GPLs) under various thermal conditions (linear and nonlinear thermal loadings). The piece-wise GPL-reinforced composites' material properties change through the orientation of cylindrical nano-sized shell's thickness as the temperature changes. Moreover, in order to model all layers' efficient material properties, nanomechanical model of Halpin-Tsai has been applied. A functionally modified couple stress model (FMCS) has been employed to simulate GPLRC nano-sized shell's size dependency. It is firstly investigated that reaching the relative frequency's percentage to 30% would lead to thermal buckling. The current study's originality is in considering the multifarious influences of GPLRC and thermal loading along with FMCS on GPLRC nano-scaled shell's resonance frequencies, relative frequency, dynamic deflection, and thermal buckling. Furthermore, Hamilton's principle is applied to achieve boundary conditions (BCs) and governing motion equations, while the mentioned equations are solved using an analytical approach. The outcomes reveal that a range of distributions in temperature and other mechanical and configurational characteristics have an essential contribution in GPLRC cylindrical nano-scaled shell's relative frequency change, resonance frequency, stability/instability, and dynamic deflection. The current study's outcomes are practical assumptions for materials science designing, nano-mechanical, and micromechanical systems such as micro-sized sensors and actuators.

시뮬레이션을 통한 레이저 융삭 추진의 우주 쓰레기 제거 응용 가능성 연구 (Research on Applicability of Laser Ablation Propulsion to Space Debris Removal by Simulations)

  • Laser ablation propulsion(LAP) is the method to create impulse by laser ablation. It can be used to deorbit the space debris(SD), as its long-range property and versatility on any material. In this paper, we find out several requirements of the LAP system(LAPS) to deorbit the SD by simple numerical calculations of the SD orbit and laser beam flux. As a result, minimum operable altitude angle turned out to be a crucial variable to the LAPS. Moreover, if minimum operable altitude angle is 10°, and if the minimum distance between the LAPS and the SD is below 450 km, 1 m/s2 is sufficient to deorbit the SD by once. With 18 kJ/3 ns pulsed laser and cube shaped 100 kg SD, 1 m/s2 acceleration can be achieved by increasing the pulse repetition rate over 34~53 Hz, depending on the size of the SD. This capability could compare with the conceptual design of the Japan Establishment for a Power-laser Community Harvest(J-EPoCH) facility, which include 8 kJ, 5 PW@100 Hz laser.

ATCIS 성능개량체계 만족 및 지속사용 의도에 미치는 영향요인 (A Study on the Factors Affecting the User Satisfaction and Continuous Use Intention of the Improved Army Tactical Command Information System)

  • Purpose The purpose of this study is to investigate the factors that affect the user satisfaction and continuous use intention of the improved ATCIS in the Korean Army. Design/methodology/approach Based on the various theories in relation to IT continuance, user satisfaction was identified as the main factor with regard to the continuous use intention of the improved ATCIS. In addition, computer self-efficacy, education-training, and system quality were hypothesized as antecedent variables to user satisfaction, and information security stress was set as a moderating variable for these relationships. Findings Survey results show that computer self-efficacy, education and training, and system quality had a positive effect on user satisfaction, and information security stress was found to moderate these relationships. The effects of computer self-efficacy and education-training on user satisfaction were higher in the group with low information security stress. However, the relationship between system quality and user satisfaction was higher in the group with high information security stress. User satisfaction is found to have a positive effect on the continuous use intention even with habit considered as a control variable.

  • Drones are emerging as a new security threat, and the world is working to reduce them. Detection and identification are the most difficult and important parts of the anti-drone systems. Existing detection and identification methods each have their strengths and weaknesses, so complementary operations are required. Detection and identification performance in anti-drone systems can be improved through the use of artificial intelligence. This is because artificial intelligence can quickly analyze differences smaller than humans. There are three ways to utilize artificial intelligence. Through reinforcement learning-based physical control, noise and blur generated when the optical camera tracks the drone may be reduced, and tracking stability may be improved. The latest NeRF algorithm can be used to solve the problem of lack of enemy drone data. It is necessary to build a data network to utilize artificial intelligence. Through this, data can be efficiently collected and managed. In addition, model performance can be improved by regularly generating artificial intelligence learning data.

정보화시대에 따른 육군 보유 훈련장의 효율적인 관리방안에 관한 연구 : 3 야전군 (According to the information age, Army reserve training center study on effective management : Third Field Army)

  • 본 연구는 국방2020계획으로 군부대 축소에 따른 첨단화된 훈련장으로 통합할 필요성이 대두되어 경기도 지역을 중심으로 실태를 파악하고 연구하였다. 연구결과 첫째 지역개발계획과 조화된 훈련장 보유기준을 재설정하여야 한다. 둘째 폐기되거나 방치된 훈련장은 지역경제를 활성화 할 수 있는 방안으로 처리절차 통해 정리하여야 한다. 셋째 군과 주민이 대화할 수 있는 전담협의체와 전담부서, 전문인력을 갖추어야 한다. 넷째 사격장 등 민원소지가 있는 훈련장은 지하화하여야 한다. 마지막으로 특별법 제정이나 조례규정 반영으로 원활하게 지원될 수 있도록 하여야 한다. 본 자료는 국방부와 경기도에서 정책을 입안하고자 할 때 활용될 수 있을 것으로 본다.
