  • The etiology of masseteric hypertrophy is obscure. When the hypertrophy occurs unilaterally it's appearance is more striking because of the resultant facial asymmetry. Two soldiers were admitted with the complaint of a lump on their jaws. The authors obtained good results on the esthetic & functional aspect in two cases of unilateral masseteric hypertrophy with the Adam's method. The etiology was thought to be the combination of unilateral masticatory and jaw clenching habits when emotionally disturbed or under nervous tension in army services.

  • This paper aims to establish a guideline for ridership capacity of different rail vehicles for military passengers. Previous guideline is limited only to a Mungungwha(hauled by diesel locomotive) vehicle, but this paper expands the limitation to ITX- Saemaeul and urban rail vehicles classified to Electric Motivated Unit(EMU). The guideline considers both with and without personal armor conditions, and based on repetitive ridership experiments. The experiments are designed under considerations of the required number of soldiers for the sample spaces of the different rail vehicles. Moreover, the design tries to establish a concept of optimal capacity additionally to a traditional limiting ridership capacity. In order to do this, ridership comfort is questioned to participant soldiers repetitively over the experiments and all answers of them are surveyed as a results of it. The results of the experiments presented by this paper can be referenced to establish a new guideline on ridership capacity for Korean army.

  • Violent action is prohibited in military, and onus to maintain discipline is on commander. To complete this duty, junior leaders who work on the first line is on situation that their human rights are unprotected. And it is linked to military violence. To eradicate this kind of violence, reformation of military organizational culture which assure junior military leaders' human rights is needed.

  • The present study attempted to investigate the military foodservice operation by conducting survey to foodservice managers. Surveys for managers of military foodservice operations were conducted in November, 2008 by visiting Consolidated Army Logistics School located in Daejeon during the time of training. Surveys for military foodservice officers and dietitian were sent by mail. The questionnaire was composed of the questions asking the general operation of military canteen, the self-concious specialty of military foodservice, and the needs assigning dietitian to each military unit. From the results of this study, it came up with the needs to draw up the plan to improve the foodservice specialty of canteen managers. One of the solution would assign dietitian to each military foodservice unit. Also, the facilities need to be equipped for various way of cooking to improve the satisfaction of soldiers. The results of this study would provide the data for making policy as well as arose academic interest to military foodservice.

  • The ASTP is the standard of the assessment ASRP that is monitoring the performance, reliability and safety characteristics of the ammunition items. The ASTP used in domestic now has applied to US Army's grade system and grading criteria so that it cause some problems. To resolve these problems of ASTP, we surveyed both the quality level of production and the field management of ammunition, which compared with grade system and classification criteria. As a result of study, we changed grade system from four steps to three steps and applied the Korean Military Specifications and the Malfunction Criteria to the classification criteria of grades. We are looking forward to improving the reliability and effectiveness of ASRP assessment by simplifying grade system and generalizing grading criteria of ASTP.

  • The Operational Mode Summary/Mission Profile(OMS/MP) is a document which describes how a system or training device will be used in wartime and/or peacetime at the time it is field with focus on the future. OMS/MP is also typically used for the RAM goal setting in an early phase of weapon system development. This paper provides OMS/MP and RAM goal of the Next-MILSATCOM which is following military satellite system after ANASIS. We propose operational concepts, user-side OMS/MP model and RAM goal.

  • The camouflage pattern was difficult to distinguish from the surrounding background, so it was difficult to classify the object and the background image when the color image is used as the training data of deep-learning. In this paper, we proposed a red-green color blindness image transformation method using the principle that people of red-green blindness distinguish green color better than ordinary people. Experimental results show that the camouflage soldier's recognition performance improved by proposed a deep learning model of the ensemble technique using the imitated red-green-blind image data and the original color image data.

  • Before the dressing and debridement of the wounds, patients received hypnosis and were taught self-hypnosis. They were instructed to let the burn areas being worked on "become relaxed and numb" in the trance. The author encouraged them to imagine wound-healing. Result of this hypnoanalgesia as an adjunct treatment for burn pain proved it most effective and facilitative. Theoretical and practical implications and future research directions were discussed.

  • It is important not only to introduce the C4I(Command and Control, Communication, Computer, Intelligence) system for realizing the NCW(Network Centric Warfare) but also to evaluate the synergistic effect by the C4I system. However, the study effort for evaluating the system's synergistic effect is insufficient compared with introducing the system. Therefore, in this paper, we proposed a model that measures the synergistic effect of combat power by the warfare information system. To measure the synergistic effect of warfare information system, the network power must be considered, so we also proposed a new methodology for measurement of network power based on SNA(Social Network Analysis), not Metcalfe's law. A model we proposed is a model that measures the raised combat power by the network effectiveness. The methodology and model we proposed in this paper will be used usefully to analyze the practical effect of constructing future warfare information system.

  • This study is aiming to obtain the pabulum of architectural planning about out-patient clinic department in armed force hospital with search. The discussion was about characteristic problems and differentiated planning characteristics of common general hospital, So the conclusion of research is as follows. In army medical facilities, Because of architectural standard of out-patient clinic department about scale of facilities and characteristic in each examination-part is unprepared, it may have to be readied. Out-patient clinic department was become plan to scale about whole 7~8% in hospital to SB hospital in 95 but was planed about 5% of whole scale from PS hospital in 97. When plan hospital, increase of equipment and increase of module size about bed for the convenience of patient or employees are judged for cause in hospital since 97 years than previous hospital in 95.
