Niche Overlap of Social Space: Duality of Individuals and Groups (개인과 집단의 이중성에 기초한 사회적 공간의 생태지위 분석)

  • This paper offers a method to measure the distribution of niches of two types of social organizations, Internet sites and voluntary organizations, based on the socio-demographic characteristics of their members. It examines the niches of Internet sites based on age and education of site visitors and those of voluntary organizations based on age, education, and occupational prestige of their members. The method to measure organizational niches makes it possible not only to understand the niche width of organizations but also to examine the extent to which organizations potentially compete and coexist. This leads to a method to recognize the way organizational environments influence the performance of individual organizations ecologically.

  • 최근 많은 기업들은 효과적인 소프트웨어 프로세스 개선을 위해 SPICE와 CMMI 프로세스 심사 표준을 도입하려는 노력을 하고 있다. 이러한 표준을 통해 효과적인 개선하기 위해서는 개선점과 위험을 식별하고 이들 이슈들을 소프트웨어 개발환경(software development environment)에 적용시켜서 조직의 비젼(organization vision)에 대응한 작업성능(work performance)를 높여야한다. 지속적인 개선을 필요로 하는 조직은 현재의 작업성능을 측정하고 이를 개선하기 위한 개선점을 찾아내는 능력과 경험을 축적하여 체계적으로 관리하는 것이 중요하다. 하지만 기존의 SPI 모델들은 무엇을 수행해야 하는지에 대한 지침은 제공하고 있지만, 정량적인 작업성능 측정 및 특정 환경의 소프트웨어 개발 조직의 SPI를 위해 필요한 구체적인 지침을 제시하고 있지는 않다. 따라서, 본 논문에서는 이러한 조직의 작업성능 측정 및 조직의 개선경험을 축적하여 프로세스를 개선전략에 반영하여 조직의 비젼에 최적한 전략을 제공해주는 OTEM(Opportunity Tree Enterprise Model)을 제안한다.

Examining the Structural Relationship among Leadership Styles, Employee Empowerment and Organizational Commitment: Evidence from Chinese IT Companies (리더십 스타일, 임파워먼트 그리고 조직몰입의 구조적 인과관계: 중국 IT 기업을 중심으로)

  • In the current economic situation of China, the leadership style and organizational commitment of employees has become an important topic. The purpose of this study is to explore the relationships among leadership style, employee empowerment and organizational commitment. And help leaders to understand which leadership style is more important and suitable for them, and to increase employees sense of identify of the organization and giving them more power so that they can work more effectively. To serve this purpose, this study conducted an extensive survey of IT companies in ShenZhen, China, and 403 valid data was collected. The research model was analyzed using SPSS and AMOS. According to the result, leadership style has a profound influence on organizational commitment. And leadership style can also impact on empowerment. Employees' empowerment also significantly influence the organization commitment, and exist a mediating effect between the leadership style of organizational commitment. The results of this study provided a new reference and a more suitable leadership style for Chinese IT enterprises that transactional leadership is more effective than transformational leadership, and it is more effective to encourage employees with rewards.

  • In our knowledge-based society, a corporation's main growth engine consists of its unique core competences and how these are organized rather than materialized competitive advantage. Intangible factors such as creative organizational culture, learning capability, brands, marketing ability and technology are notable examples of such core competencies. To ensure constant development of a corporation, it is important to understand the environment in which these factors operate. Drawing on literature research, this paper looks at organizational culture and change, and employees' attitudes and resistance factors to such change. To strengthen the explanation of this study the Korea Asset Management Corporation was used as a case study. From the point of view of information science, knowledge has been viewed as that which is found in books and databases. Such "knowledge" is storable, passive and unchangeable. However, more recently it is seen by many researchers that this approach is limited in that it ignores the knowledge that "sits" in human "bodyminds" and organizations. Such knowledge forms the backbone of organizational culture and should be considered in any meaningful study of information.

  • Recently, due to the continuous changes in the business environment and increased competition, enterprises are introducing technology management to increase their value and enhance their competitiveness. In this study, based on the structural equations model, we investigated the effects of the core success factors of knowledge management on job fidelity and organizational performance and the mediating effects of organizational learning. In addition, organizational culture and information technology and process were assumed to be the key factors affecting knowledge management, and organizational learning was represented by experimental learning, indirect learning, and shared learning. As a result, it was found that knowledge management positively affects business fidelity and organizational performance and, even when it is mediated by organizational learning, it positively affects business fidelity and organization performance directly or indirectly. Therefore, we were able to confirm the importance of utilizing knowledge management in companies and to suggest an appropriate application scope for applying knowledge management and organizational learning.

Effect of Characteristics of Public Enterprise CEOs' Leadership on the Leader Trust and Organizational Effectiveness of Organizational Members (공기업 CEO의 리더십특성이 조직구성원의 리더신뢰수준과 조직유효성에 미치는 영향)

  • The purpose of this study is to inquire into the effect of characteristics of public enterprise CEOs' leadership (transforming leadership and transactional leadership) on the leader trust and organizational effectiveness of organizational members. A survey was made on 1,124 persons being in the service of 14 marketable and quasimarketable public enterprises. The results of this study were as follows. First, it showed that the individualized consideration had an effect on the confidence level of leader. Second, it showed that the transforming and transactional leaderships had an effect on the organizational effectiveness, which the hypothesis was adopted. Third, it showed that calculable, intellectual and identical factors had a positive effect on the job satisfaction and organizational commitment, but the organizational commitment of calculable variable was rejected in the confidence level. In general, the effect of transforming and transactional leaderships as public enterprise CEOs' leadership characteristics on the organizational effectiveness by mutual confidence level of calculable, intellectual and identical standards showed that the organizational commitment was rejected in the base of identification. And other factors were adopted as a positive mechanism, which they were a mechanism suitable to public enterprise CEOs' leadership characteristics.

A Study on the Relationship Between Appropriateness of Education/Training for IT Professionals and Organizational Commitment: Moderating Effects of Top Talents Management and Organizational Trust (IT 전문직 근로자의 교육훈련 적정성과 조직몰입간의 관계에 대한 연구: 조직신뢰와 인재우대의 조절효과)

  • The professional workers with a sophisticated knowledge, skill and ability are core human resources to sustain firm's competitiveness. It is very crucial to provide professional workers with an appropriate education and training to get them have organizational commitment. Thus, this study examines the relationship between appropriateness of education/training for IT professionals and organizational commitment, and explores the moderating effects that top talent management and trust have on the association between appropriateness of education/training (AET) and organizational commitment (OC). The 379 responses from firm panel survey of human capitals, which was conducted by KRIVET on 2009, were used to assess construct validity and research hypotheses. The findings show that appropriateness of education/training has a positive impact on organizational commitment. It is also found that respecting top talent has a moderating effect on the AET-OC relationship whereas trust doesn't moderate the AET-OC relationship.

  • In the construction industry, success or failure depends on the capability and role of the project owner's organization, which has an effect on the peoples' lives and national finance because of a lot of involvement from the project owner. Therefore, it is required that the project owner has the sufficient capability for the success of relevant industry and the further development of whole industry. Therefore, at the viewpoint of successful accomplishment of the construction industry, systematic and in-depth research that defines and evaluates the capability of the project owner's organization is necessary. As-Is and To-Be competency can be measured by the individual areas and elements through the survey. By evaluating these capabilities simultaneously, it is possible to assume not only the project owner's organizational competency but also constant other capabilities. It is become to make plans for strengthening the capabilities and to establish the strategy, by catching which capabilities are really necessary. It will result in positive effects on improving the capabilities of the project owner's organizational competency.

The Relationship between Employee's Personality Traits and Organizational Commitment in Pharmaceutical and Medical Device Companies: Focusing on moderating effects of leadership (제약 및 의료·실험기기 회사 조직 구성원의 성격특성과 조직 몰입 간의 관계: 리더십의 조절효과를 중심으로)

  • The purpose of this study was to analyze the influence of Big 5 Personality Traits(Extroversion, Agreeableness, Conscientiousness, Openness to experience, Neuroticism) on the organizational commitment of employees and also to investigate the moderating effect of leadership. To summarize the research results, First, Extroversion, Agreeableness, Conscientiousness, Openness of Big 5 Personality Traits had a positive effect on organizational commitment. Second, transactional, transformational and servant leadership had a moderating effect on the relationship between conscientiousness and organizational commitment. And transactional and transformational leadership had a moderating effect on the relationship between openness and organizational commitment. In Pharmaceutical and Medical Device Companies, it was confirmed that personality traits of employees are important factors that affect organizational commitment and organizational leadership interacts with the personality of employees and affects organizational commitment. This study is meaningful in that it attempted to analyze the moderating effect through quantitative design using the scale for the role of personality factors and leadership individually.

A Study on the Organizational Learning of the Disaster Management Organizations: the Cases of Daegu Subway (재난관리조직의 조직학습 사례분석-대구지하철 사례를 중심으로-)

  • Although the disaster management of Korea such as mitigation of disasters, preparedness for them and recovery from them. It should be considered based on the failures of the disaster management and the past experimental knowledge, it is believed that the repetitive occurrence of similar disasters is caused by absence of learning of disaster management organizational. That is, non-learning of the management organs due to experimental errors indicates that the organization themselves are not able to adjust to environment and the same kinds of disasters may happen in the future. Therefore, this study identifies repetitive failures by analysing reasons of the failures in terms of organizational learning in order to prevent from repetition of similar failures, and presents suggestions on the policy of disaster management. For the purposes, it carries both bibliographical analysis and case analysis. this study targets Daegu Subway Fire in 2003.
