Misalignment can be an important problem in the integration of GPS/INS. Observability analysis of the alignment errors in the integration of low-grade inertial sensors and multi-antenna GPS is presented in this paper. A control-theoretic approach is adopted to study the observability of time-varying error dynamics models. The relationship between vehicle motions and the observability of the errors in the lever arm and relative attitude between GPS antenna array and IMU is given. It is shown that alignment errors can be made observable through maneuvering. The change of acceleration makes the components of the relative attitude error that are orthogonal to the direction of the acceleration change observable. The change of angular velocity makes the components of the lever arm error that are orthogonal to the direction of the angular velocity observable. The motion of constant angular velocity has no influence on the estimation of the lever arm.
Piercing is the process of shearing a circular hole in sheet metal, whose high shear force makes it difficult to secure the durability of tools. In addition, uneven clearance between tools due to poor alignment of the piercing punch causes accelerated die wear and breakage of the tool. This study reviewed the feasibility of in-situ determining alignment failure during the piercing process by analyzing the signal deviation of a bolt-type piezo sensor installed inside the tool whose alignment level was controlled. Finite element analysis was performed to select the optimal sensor location on the piercing tool for sensitive detection of process signals. A well-aligned piercing process results in uniform deformation in the circumferential direction, and shearing is completed at a stroke similar to the sheet thickness. Afterward, a sharp decrease in shear load is observed. The misaligned piecing punch leads to a gradual decrease in the load after the maximum shear load. This gradual decrease is due to the progressive shear deformation that proceeds in the circumferential direction after the initial crack occurs at the narrow clearance site. Therefore, analyzing the stroke at which the maximum shear load occurs and the load reduction rate after that could detect the misalignment of the piercing punch in real-time.
After the Human Genome Project finished the sequencing of a human DNA sequence, the concerns on protein functions are increasing. Since the structures of proteins are conserved in divergent evolution, their functions are determined by their structures rather than by their amino acid sequences. Therefore, if similarities between two protein structures are observed, we could expect them to have common biological functions. So far, a lot of researches on protein structure alignment have been performed. However, most of them use RMSD(Root Mean Square Deviation) as a similarity measure with which it is hard to judge the similarity level of two protein structures intuitively. In addition, they retrieve only one result having the highest alignment score with which it is hard to satisfy various users of different purpose. To overcome these limitations, we propose a novel protein structure alignment algorithm based on MRPD(Maximum of Residue Pair Distance) and SG (Similarity Graph). MRPD is more intuitive similarity measure by which fast tittering of unpromising pairs of protein pairs is possible, and SG is a compact representation method for multiple alignment results with which users can choose the most plausible one among various users' needs by providing multiple alignment results without compromising the time to align protein structures.
Quadtree, which is a hierarchical data structure, is a very important data structure to represent binary images. The linear quadtree representation as a way to store a quadtree is efficient to save space compared with other representations. Therefore, it has been widely studied to develop efficient algorithms to execute operations related with quadtrees. The operations of unaligned linear quadtrees, which are operations among the linear quadtrees with different origin, are able to perform the translated or rotated images efficiently. And this operations requires alignment of the linear quadtrees. In this paper, we present an efficient algorithm to perform alignment of unaligned linear quadtrees, using three-dimensional $n{\pm}n{\pm}n$ processors on RMESH(Reconfigurable MESH). This algorithm has constant-time complexity by using efficient basic operations to route the locational codes of quardtree on the hierarchical structure of $n{\pm}n{\pm}n$ RMESH.
Due to the popular use of digital camera, a great number of photos are taken at every usage of camera. It is essential to reveal relationship between photos to manage digital photos efficiently. We propose a method that tessellates image into unit blocks and applies 2D alignment to extend content-based similar region from seed block pair having high similarity. Through an alignment, we can get a block region scoring best matching value on whole image. The method can distinguish whether photos are sharing the same object or background. Our result is less sensitive to transition or pause change of objects. In experiment, we show how our alignment method is applied to real photo and necessities for further research like photo clustering and massive photo management.

Optical filters in WDM are passive communication components used in case of transmitting and reflecting lights with specific wavelengths. In this paper, a novel mechanism for the automatic and optical alignment has been presented. It includes minimum axes not to be coupled each other. The automatic spectrum inspection system has been developed to improve the alignment time of reference optical ray, spectrum inspection time and inspection quality, simultaneously. It has been confirmed that the proposed spectrum inspection system is faster, more precise and more reliable than those based on the conventional handwork.

A simulation technique, which simulate dynamic motion and communication environments of ship in the lab, is needed in order to reduce the testing cost when we evaluate the transfer alignment performance of shipboard INS. Hardware-In-the-Loop Simulation(HILS) can be used as an effective test method for those system because it can provide flexible and realistic simulation environments, various test scenario, and repeated test environment in the lab without additional cost and person. This paper presents the methods for implementing the real time HILS environment for testing transfer alignment performance of shipboard INS. It includes real time executive for controlling realtime simulation and calculating the ship motion, communication method for interfacing between the systems, and coordinate transformation method for converting real ship coordinate attitude data to lab coordinate attitude data.

Pinholes on the thermally grown oxide, which is called gate oxide, on silicon substrate under polysilicon layer are found and its mechanism is analyzed in this paper. The oxide under a polysilicon layer is broken during the plasma etching process of other polysilicon layer. Both polysilicon layers are separated with 0.8${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ thick oxide deposited by CVD (Chemical Vapor Deposition). Since broken oxide points are found scattered around an arc occurrence point, it is assumed that an extremely high electric field generated near the arc occurrence point makes the gate oxide broken. 1'he arc occurrence point has been observed on the alignment key and is the mark of low yield. It is found that any arc occurrence can cause chips to fail by breaking the gate oxide, even if are occurrence points are found on scribeline.

Many of the traffic accidents on roads are a result of alignment defect of the roads. This alignment of the road needs to lie analyzed with accuracy for improving design of road, and it needs the design drawing of road, and coordinates of the main point. Accordingly, in this study the precision of location based on existing design drawing was compared with the data acquired by the combination of RTK GPS/GLONASS. The result of study is included within range 5cm, we would like to propose an effective and useful approach method to utilize the satellite for road alignment information system by evaluating the represented road alignment.
The alignment of liquid crystal (LC) is one of the key issues of liquid crystal display (LCD) technologies. In this study, we aligned polyimide (as the LC alignment layer) by ALT plasma beam and to realize the stability and characteristics of this technology. The characteristics such as anchoring energy, pre-tilt angle, voltage holding ratio(VHR) and residual direct current(Rdc) were discussed. Besides, we applied it to the in plane switch (IPS) mode 23" WXGA real panel, the performance parameters and electrical properties were measured and compared with those of rubbing alignment. From the result, we demonstrated a successful LC alignment treatment process in real panel by ALT plasma beam.
