High strength concrete is not only vulnerable to the occurrence of spalling which generates the loss of cross-section in concrete structures but produces faster degradation in its mechanical properties than normal strength concrete in the event of fire. This study aims to evaluate fire resistance of high strength segment concrete with PET fibers mixed to prevent spalling under ISO834 (2hr) and RABT fire curve. As results, the samples without PET fibers show the concrete loss up to the depth of about 8 cm and 9.5 cm from the surface exposed to fire under ISO834 and RABT fire curve respectively. The samples mixed with PET fiber of 0.1% show no spalling under ISO834 fire curve and the spalled thickness of 6.5 cm under RABT fire curve after the fire tests. Finally, the sample mixed with PET fiber of 0.2% shows no spalling under RABT fire curve. The results indicate that the suitable amounts of PET fiber for securing fire resistance performance of this high strength segment concrete are 0.1% under ISO834 fire curve and 0.2% under RABT fire curve. However, even though spalling does not occur, it is necessary to repair the deterioration of concrete up to 4 cm from the surface exposed to fire after fire.

Thispaper presents the results of an experimental investigation into the fire performances ofsimply supported iTECH composite beams using an ISO834 standard fire. There are very few independent studies on the fire resistance of composite steel and concrete structures of various designs. The iTECH composite beam system has been used in construction, but nothing is known about its influence in a fire. To evaluate the fire resistance performanceof the iTECH beam, a test was conducted for 4.7m-span-length iTECH beams under given conditions in a laboratory. The fire resistance performance of unprotected coatings of the iTECH beam has been examined, and a longer period of fire resistance was achieved by increasing the beam coating's section size and decreasing its load ratio. Coatings for the fire protection of iTECH beams reduce the rate of temperature rise of the beam in case of fire, and the required thickness of spray-on fire protection coatings can be determined by means of tests.
The fire resistance performance of 2 RC slabs after exposure to the ISO-834 fire standard without loading has been experimentally investigated. A Comparison is made of the fire resistance performance between RC slabs without PP(polypropylene) fibers and RC slabs with PP fibers. From the fire test results, the presence of PP fibers in RC slabs can reduce spalling and enhance their fire resistance. Until now, the determination of fire resistance of reinforced concrete(RC) slabs has essentially been based on tabulated data. According to ACI 216 code and EUROCODE 2, the design of concrete structures is essentially based on tabulated data for appropriate concrete cover and various fire durations. From the comparison between fire test results and codes, current fire design provisions of codes such as the ACI 216 and the EUROCODE 2 are unconservative for estimating mechanical properties of RC slabs at elevated temperatures.

Ultra-high strength concrete (UHSC) encased steel columns are receiving growing interest in high-rise buildings owing to their economic and architectural advantages. However, UHSC encased steel columns are not covered by the modern fire safety design code. A total of 14 fire tests are conducted on UHSC (120 MPa) encased steel columns under constant axial loads and exposed to ISO-834 standard fire. The effect of load ratio, slenderness, stirrup spacing, cross-section size and concrete cover to core steel on the fire resistance and failure mode of the specimens are investigated. The applicability of the tabulated method in EC4 (EN 1994-1-2-2005) and regression formula in Chinese code (DBJ/T 15-81-2011) to fire resistance of UHSC encased steel columns are checked. Generally, the test results reveal that the vertical displacement-heating time curves can be divided into two phases, i.e. thermal expansion and shortening to failure. It is found that the fire resistance of column specimens increases with the increase of the cross-section size and concrete cover to core steel, but decreases with the increase of the load ratio and slenderness. The EC4 method overestimates the fire resistance up to 186% (220 min), while the Chinese code underestimates it down to 49%. The Chinese code has a better agreement than EC4 with the test results since the former considers the effect of the load ratio, slenderness, cross section size directly in its empirical formula. To estimate the fire resistance precisely can improve the economy of structural fire design of ultra-high strength concrete encased steel columns.
Experiments were performed for the real sized 12 reinforced concrete columns of 350${\times}$350${\times}$3350 mm with normal concrete in order to observe the fire-damaged behavior of these columns. Columns were heated according to the ISO heating curve. Main experimental parameters were: magnitude of axial load, heating time, cover thickness, and eccentricity. Effects of these parameters on the axial expansion and contraction, rotation, buckling, ISO fire resistance, and structural stability were experimentally quantified. It has been observed that the contraction rate of axial deformation was affected mostly by the duration of heating time and buckling of reinforcement or member by the magnitude of axial load, duration of heating time, cover thickness and eccentricity in order. Based on the experimental observations, ISO fire resistance criteria were qualiatively criticized.
The calculation of fire resistance for a composite structural element comprises the calculation of the temperature within its cross-section and of the load bearing capacity, considering the evolution of the steel and concrete mechanical properties, function of the temperature. The paper proposes a method to calculate the bending capacity under ISO fire, for Slim Floor systems using asymmetric steel beams, with a wider lower flange or a narrow upper flange welded onto a half hot-rolled profile. The temperatures in the cross-section are evaluated by means of empirical formulas determined through a parametrical analysis, performed with the special purpose non-linear finite element program SAFIR. Considering these formulas, the bending capacity may be calculated, using an analytical approach to determine the plastic bending moment, for different fire resistance demands. The results obtained with this simplified method are validated through numerical analysis.
The purpose of thisanalytical study of an iTECH composite beam subjected to fire conditions is to determine the beam's fire resistance performance using its load ratio and fire protection as parameters. A composite structural system is expected to have a safer and more economical fire safety design than a mere collection of isolated members.heat transfer analysis was performed on the basis of the finite element program ANSYS 10.0 using an ISO834 standard fire, following the main guidelines proposed by EC1 Part 2.2 and EC4 Part 1.2. To validate the analytical simulation of the iTECH composite beam, comparison of the experimental tests was proposed.
Fire resistance and thermal stability of polypropylene composite systems were investigated by using several halogenated fire-retardants such as decabromodiphenyl oxide (DBDPO) and chlorinated paraffin wax (CPW). The fire resistance of composite systems was thoroughly examined by measuring limited oxygen index (LOI, ASTM D2863, ISO 4589) and characteristic properties of cone calorimetry(ASTM E1354, ISO 5660) heat release rates (HRR), time to ignition (TTI), total heat release (THR), effective heat of combustion (EHC), mass loss rates, etc. Comparing the cone calorimetry experimental results of the halogen flame retardants, DBDPO exhibited twice higher efficiency than CPW in polypropylene systems, and the LOI also showed similar trends to cone calorimetry. The thermo-oxidative stability of the composite systems was increased about 30-5$0^{\circ}C$ in thermogravimetry analysis.Collectively, the combustion, extinction and thermally-stable characteristics of flame retardants were identified in this study.
