  • A strategic structure when exposed to direct hit of conventional bomb/projectile are severely damaged because of large amounts of energy released by the impact and penetration of bomb. When massive concrete slabs suffer a direct hit, the energy released during impact and penetration process are able to easily break up large mass of concrete. When over stressed under such impact of bombs, the concrete structure fails showing brittle behavioural nature. This paper is intended to study and suggest the protective measures for structures used for strategic application by adopting a means to dissipate the large quantum of energy released. To quantitatively evaluate the force, displacement and energy in such scenario, a fine numerical model of the proposed layered structure of different combinations was built in ANSYS programme in which tri-nitrotoluene (TNT) explosive was detonated at penetration depth calculated for GP1000 Lbs bomb. The distinct blast mitigation effect of the proposed structure was demonstrated by adopting various layers/barriers created as protective measures for the strategic structure. The calculated result shows that the blast effect on the structure is potentially reduced due to provision of buster slab with sand cushioning provided as protective measure to the main structure. This concept of layered protective measures may be adopted for safeguarding strategic structures such as Domes, Tunnels and Underground Structures.

  • Dynamic spectrum access and cognitive radio is a viable solution to solve congestion in ISM band. The dynamic environment of multi-channel wireless LAN is modeled by using continuous time Markov process. Bayes theorem is applied to infer channel access decisions dynamically to ensure current data transmission is switched to only likely candidate channels.

  • A low-power 2.4GHz fractional-N frequency synthesizer has been designed for 2.4GHz ISM band applications such as Bluetooth, Zigbee, and WLAN. To achieve low-power characteristic, the design has been focused on the power optimization of power-hungry blocks such as VCO, prescaler, and ${\Sigma}-{\Delta}$ modulator. An NP-core type VCO is adopted to optimize both phase noise and power consumption. Dynamic D-F/Fs with no static DC current are employed in designing the low-power prescaler circuit. The ${\Sigma}-{\Delta}$ modulator is designed using a modulus mapping circuit for reducing hardware complexity and power consumption. The designed frequency synthesizer which was fabricated using a $0.18{\mu}m$ CMOS process consumes 7.9mA from a single 1.8V supply voltage. The experimental results show that a phase noise of -118dBc/Hz at 1MHz offset, the reference spur of -70dBc at 25MHz offset, and the channel switching time of $15{\mu}s$ over 25MHz transition have been achieved. The designed chip occupies an area of $1.16mm^2$ including pads where the core area is only $0.64mm^2$.

  • The objects of this thesis are to examine the ways of applying the postmodern theory into the contemporary de-signing based on the korean culture and history. As the results of this study Ⅰfound the expressions of the postmodern design has much value to communicate because of the importance of the aesthetics. One of the most important postmodern design concepts, the historical allusion is also accepted as an aspects of new "ism" after modernism. In applying the historical motives the problem is that we must understand the meaning of ways of life and culture included the external ornaments. Finally if we consider not only the hardware aspacts but also the software aspects - society, history, region and culture - we can make our postmodern design lan-guages.

  • In this paper, we propose a wireless modem, which used OFDM/64QAM method and the ISM band with 2.4GHz radio frequency. In this paper proposed the case of a modem, the main program to process the baseband processor, processing speed, operating voltage, and reliability should be ensured. So we have designed with Ralink's RT2870, witch was used for Wi-Fi solution. The RT2870 provides full support for wireless LAN standard, and supports various modulation formats, 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands, both of which support chip. In this paper, we also output the modulated signal transmitted wirelessly to the 2.4GHz band RF RT2850 chip processing was applied and using 40MHz band 2.422 ~ 2.462GHz wireless bands were designed to occupy. By applying bi-directional transmission between wireless transmitter and receiver, it can be effectively connected with any kinds of wireless LAN with 2.4GHz ISM band. Therefore it could economically be used as peripheral equipments for POS system or personal wireless device based on Android platform.

  • Optical imaging and spectroscopy of G353.2+0.9, the brightest part of the giant H II region NGC 6357, shows that this H II region is optically thin, contains ${\~}300\;M_{\bigodot}$ of ionized gas and is probably expanding into the surrounding medium. Its chemical composition is similar to that found in other H II regions at similar galactocentric distances if temperature fluctuations are significant. The inner regions are probably made of thin shells and filaments, whereas extended slabs of material, maybe shells seen edge-on, are found in the periphery. The radio continuum and H$\alpha$ emission maps are very similar, indicating that most of the optical nebula is not embedded in the denser regions traced by molecular gas and the presence of IR sources. About $10^{50}$ UV photons per second are required to produce the H$\beta$ flux from the 1l.3'${\times}$10' region surrounding the Pis 24 cluster that is south of G353.2+0.9. Most of the energy powering this region is produced by the 03-7 stars in Pis 24. Most of the 2MASS sources in the field with large infrared excesses are within G353.2+0.9, indicating that the most recent star forming process occured within it. The formation of Pis 24 preceded and caused the formation of this new generation of stars and may be responsible for the present-day morphology of the entire NGC 6357 region.

  • In this paper, in order to exclude the influence of BAN(Body Area Network) signals operating in the ISM band, the design and optimization process of an on-body microstrip patch antenna operating at 4.567 GHz is presented. The antenna for the monitoring of the lower legs with cancellous osteoporosis is designed to be lightweight and compact with improved return loss and bandwidth. The structure around the applied lower leg consisted of a five-layer dielectric plane. Taking into account losses, the complex dielectric constant of each layer is calculated using multi Cole-Cole model parameters, whereas a unipolar model is used for normal or osteoporotic cancellous bones. The return loss of the coaxial feed antenna on the phantom is -67.26 dB at 4.567 GHz, and in the case of osteoporosis, at the same frequency the return loss difference is 35.88 dB, and the resonance frequency difference is about 7 MHz.

  • The far-ultraviolet (FUV) C IV and H2 emission spectra of Orion-Eridanus Superbubble (OES) is hereby presented. The OES seems to consist of multiple phase through the detection of highly-ionized gas and pervasive neutral hydrogen. The former is traced by hot gas while the latter is traced by cold medium. A spectral image made with H2 fluorescent emission shows that the spatial distribution of hydrogen molecule is well correlated with the dust map. The model spectra was taken from a photodissociation region (PDR) radiation code which finds a best suitable parameter such as hydrogen density and intensity of the radiation field. C IV emission is caused by intermediate temperature ISM about 10^5 K. Therefore we could get more clear evidence to reveal the morphology of OES. In this process, the hydrogen density and gas temperature were also estimated. The data were obtained with the Far-Ultraviolet Imaging Spectrograph (FIMS) and the whole data handling were followed by previous FIMS analysis.

  • In this work, we have designed Gilbert cell downconversion mixer using 0.25um Anam CMOS process, we also have analyzed Conversion gain and IIP3 using Taylor series in our own unique way. Especially, bulk terminal is used as LO( Local Oscillator) input for reduction of power consumption and supply voltage. Supply voltage used in this design is lower than 1.8V and core current is less than 500uA. The simulation experiments showed that the conversion gain, IIP3, and power consumption were -1 dB, 4.46dBm, and 0.8mW, respectively.
