  • The purpose of this study will find out the primary element of point make-up image perception, the point make-up image perception by point make-up trend and demographic variables such as sex and age. And this study will show the preferences of the point make-up. This study is based on the quasi-experimental study method with contents analysis method and experimental method. And content ana]isis is primarily based on the color trend and cosmetics colors which were suggested by a fashion magazine. Experiment was conducted by gathering opinions by poll, with the model wearing different make-ups and checking the typical reactions of people. To summarize, sex and age were found out to be influential variable to distinguish color perception abilities. This could verify that point make-up was important factor, influencing on the face image perception. also, face make-up effect could be maximized with Natural or common color groups rather than trend-oriented color group selections. And the polled preferred Natural color group with no point make-up or Classic color group to any other color group.

  • This paper presents experimental results of advanced investigation carried out on the beams reinforced with Glass Fiber Reinforced Polymer (GFRP) rebar and stirrups. Twelve beams reinforced with GFRP and one beam with steel reinforcement of size $230{\times}300{\times}2000mm$ were investigated. Longitudinal reinforcement, shear span and spacing of stirrups were the main variables to form the set. In advanced testing three types of strain gauges for steel, composite and concrete surface were applied to observe strain/stress development against the applied load. Live data were recorded from four strain gauges applied on stirrups, one at center on longitudinal reinforcement, two on the concrete surface and central deflection during the test. Although the focus of the paper was mainly on the behavior of GFRP shear reinforcement, other parallel data were observed for the completeness of the test. Design recommendations of ISIS Canada Design Manual (2007), Japan Society of Civil Engineers (1997) and American Concrete Institute (ACI-440.1R-06) were reviewed. Shear design predictions were compared with experimental results in which it was observed that all the three standards provided conservative predictions. However, ACI found most efficient compare to other two there is room to improve the efficiency of the recommendations.

  • The ionospheric mid-latitude trough (IMT) is the electron density depletion phenomenon in the F region during nighttime. It has been suggested that the IMT is the result of complex plasma processes coupled to the magnetosphere. In order to statistically investigate the characteristics of the IMT, we analyze topside sounding data from Alouette and ISIS satellites in 1960s and 1970s. The IMT position is almost constant for seasons and solar activities whereas the IMT depth ratio and the IMT feature are stronger and clearer in the winter hemisphere under solar minimum condition. We also calculated transition heights at which the densities of oxygen ions and hydrogen/helium ions are equal. Transition heights are generally higher in daytime and lower in nighttime, but the opposite aspects are seen in the IMT region. Utilizing the Incoherent Scatter Radar (ISR) electron temperature measurements, we find that the electron temperature in the IMT region is enhanced at night during winter. The increase of electron temperature may cause fast transport of the ionospheric plasma to the magnetosphere via ambipolar diffusion, resulting in the IMT depletion. This mechanism of the IMT may work in addition to the simply prolonged recombination of ions proposed by the traditional stagnation model.

  • In this paper, the effects of the leading and the following sounds with single frequency on sound localization are investigated. The sounds with different levels and ISIs(Inter Stimuli Intervals) were used. The width of test sound is 2ms, and those of the leading and the following sounds are 10ms. 1 kHz of the test sound is utilized. The arrival time difference in the subject's ears is set to be 0.5ms. The four kinds of level differences used for one ISI are 0, -10, -15, and -20dB interval. The leading sound is found to have more effect on sound localization than the following sound is. The effect of the leading sound is also found to be dependent on the value of ISI. When the value of the ISI is small, different effects affecting the sound localization are observed.

  • Cross-beam in the existing temporary bridge system is usually installed to prevent the lateral-torsional buckling of girders and to promote the construction efficiency. However, most of this cross-beams are connected to the girder web by bolts, and therefore, gravitational load resisting capacity of the cross-beams are negligibly small. In recent years, new temporary bridge system, in which the cross-beams and girders are connected to resist the external loads as a unit, was developed. In this paper, we present the experimental and analytical study results pertaining to the structural behavior and load carrying capacity of new temporary bridge system. From the results of study, it was found that the continuous cross-beam increased the flexural rigidity and reduced the maximum flexural stress in the girder. In addition, it was also found that the new temporary bridge system developed is more appropriate for the application in the long-span temporary bridge.

  • This study aims to prevent the serious threat from dangerous person or group by responding or blocking or separating illegal activities by use of SNA: Social Network Analysis. SNA enables to identify the complex social relation of suspect and individuals in order to enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of investigation. SNS has rapidly developed and expanded without restriction of physical distance and geo-location for making new relation among people and sharing large amount of information. As rise of SNS(facebook and twitter) related crimes, terrorist group 'ISIS' has used their website for promotion of their activity and recruitment. The use of SNS costs relatively lower than other methods to achieve their goals so it has been widely used by terrorist groups. Since it has a significant ripple effect, it is imperative to stop their activity. Therefore, this study precisely describes criminal and terrorist activities on SNS and demonstrates how effectively detect, block and respond against their activities. Further study is also suggested.

  • Numerous water gates have been constructed and are under construction for the control of water level because, due to the topographical characteristics of mountainous area, many small size rivers are developed in Korean peninsula. Among the water gates, movable water gates are more efficient to control water level than the fixed water gates. By the field application of the movable water gates, many problems associated with the fixed water gates have been mitigated. The problems include the bottom water pollution, the change of habitats for the riparian organisms, etc. This is the reason to increase the field application of movable water gates. In the paper we present the result of analytical investigation pertaining to the structural behavior of multistage overturning movable water gate which is one of the movable water gates. In the analytical investigations, the finite element analysis on the constructed water gate has been conducted for illustration purposes and it was found that the multistage movable water gate is much better than the fixed and/or existing movable water gates in the point of structural and environmental performances.

  • This study has been carried out as a basic course for the analysis of foundation deformations based on the Cap model using the finite element methods. Material parameters should firstly be determined in order to use the Cap model for numerical solution. Associated with the fact described above, a method determining the soil parameters is suggested using algorithm for numerical ana])isis from raw truly triaxial compression laboratory test data of Pueblo.Colorado sand by Zaman, et at. (1982) More specifically, the change of soil parameters Is thoroughly examined by weighting the data obtained from CTC and RTE tests, respectively. The main results obtained are as follows; 1. The obtained values of parameters (E, V and 2) are same irrespective of data obtained from various kind of tests. 2. The values of the other parameters are dependent on data used. 3. The determination of parameters is little affected by the weighting factor.

  • The application of the coating supports the mechanical characteristics of the implant, and various materials and coatings are currently being used in the implant in a way to accelerate adhesion. Especially, plasma electrolytic oxidation (PEO) coating has been proposed continually with good surface treatment of titanium alloys. Also, the PEO process can incorporate Ca and P ions on the titanium surface through variables varied factor. PEO process for bioactive surface has carried out in electrolytes containing Ca and P ions. Natural bone is composed of mineral elements such as Mg, Si, Zn, Sr, and Mn, etc. Especially, Mg and Si of these elements play role in bone formation and growth after clinical implantation of bio-implants. In this study, corrosion charateristics of PEO-treated Ti-6Al-4V alloy in solution containing Si and Mg ions has been investigated using several experimental techniques. The PEO-treated surfaces were identified by X-ray diffraction, using a diffractometer (XRD, Philips X' pert PRO, Netherlands) with Cu $K{\alpha}$ radiation. The morphology was observed by field-emission scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM, Hitachi 4800, Japan) and energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDX, Oxford ISIS 310, England). The potentiodynamic polarization and AC impedance tests for electrochemical degradations were carried out in 0.9% NaCl solution at similar body temperature using a potentiostat with a scan rate of 1.67mV/s and potential range from -1500mV to + 2000mV.
