A Small-Area ISDB-T Time Deinterleaver Structure with Buffer Transformation (버퍼 변환을 이용한 저면적 ISDB-T 시간 디인터리버 구조)

  • This paper presents a small-area ISDB-T time deinterleaver structure. ISDB-T is an mobile TV standard that is widely used in Japan and many South American countries. One of the strong points of the standard is the long interleaving depth, which enhance the communication performance. However, long interleaving requires many delay buffers, in other words many pointer registers. This paper reduces the number of pointer registers with the deinterleaver equivalent transformation. The experimental results show that the area is reduced with the proposed structure.

  • The ISDB-T(Integrated Service Digital Broadcasting Terrestrial) can be used in the multipath and impulsive noise, also it provide good performance over mobile reception environment since it use the OFDM(Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing) based transmission technology and time interleaving technology. One segment and full segment are divided according to the number of the assigned segment. And one-segment broadcasting receiver can design and implement without high levels of technology than the full-segment broadcasting receiver using 64QAM(64 Quadrature Amplitude Modulation) since it uses QPSK(Quadrature Phase Shift Keying) modulation/demodulation. However, it has a constraint in the display size and resolution due to data-rate limits. In this paper, we design and implementation of full-segment ISDB-T receiver module which support HD resolution for set-top box, digital TV, navigation. In experimental results, the implemented full-segment ISDB-T receiver module was satisfactory for all of the desired functions.

  • In ISDB-T, which is Japanese digital terrestrial TV specification based on OFDM technology, 6MHz bandwidth is divided into 13 segments. Twelve segments (full-seg) are used for high definition broadcasting for fixed receivers and one segment (one-seg) for mobile receivers. Though one-seg supports high speed mobility by using QPSK modulation, it is not suitable for large display mobile devices because of its low data rate. Full-seg using 64QAM modulation also suffers from its low mobile performance. In this paper, mobile performance of ISDB-T full-seg receiver is evaluated by applying sub-carrier interference removing scheme, high speed mobile channel estimation scheme and antenna diversity scheme.

  • This paper aims to realize a Signal to Noise Ratio Estimator which constitutes a critical index of the broadcasting system in OFDM system with a synchronized type based on ISDB-T system. Of the elements which are comprising OFDM segments of ISDB-T system using the MSE algorithm suitable for ASIC design owing to its low complexity among a diverse SNR estimation methods, SNR estimation method using the broadcasting information data and the SNR estimation method using scattered pilot signal were realized by RTL. These two methods were compared in terms of their performance through simulation test not only in the AWGN channel which is an ideal channel, but also in SFN channel and frequency selective fading channel, which are distorted channels. Complexity of two methods were also compared through RTL realization. As a result of this comparison analysis, it was concluded that the SNR estimation method using scattered pilot signal shows more excellent performance and easiness in realization.

  • In this paper, we compare the performance of the channel estimation methods with various interpolators for ISDB-T which is Japanese digital television terrestrial broadcasting systems. In this computer simulations, various interpolation methods are applied and the entire channel estimation performances according to the way of interpolation are compared.

  • A fully integrated multistandard multiband CMOS mobile TV tuner with small silicon area and low power consumption is proposed for receiving multiple mobile digital TV signals and FM signal. In order to reduce the silicon area of the multistandard multiband receiver, other RF front-end circuits except LNAs are shared and a local oscillator (LO) signal generation architecture with a single VCO for a frequency synthesizer is proposed. To reduce the low frequency noise and the power consumption, a vertical NPN BJT is used in an analog baseband circuits. The RF tuner IC is implemented in a $0.18-{\mu}m$ CMOS technology. The RF tuner IC satisfies all specifications for DVB-H/T, T-DMB, and ISDB-T with a sufficient margin and a successful demonstration has been carried out for DVB-H/T, T-DMB, and ISDB-T with a digital demodulator.

  • In this paper, Multi Mode Receiver Module is designed in one H/W module for Multi-mode Digital Broadcasting. Multi mode means Digital TV, Mobile TV and Digital Radio on the Broadcasting. and T-DMB, DAB(+), ISDB-T and DVB-T standard. Our Module can receive various broadcasting signal such as ISDB-T, DVB-T and DAB. The Multi mode Receiver Module & demuxer was implemented using the one SoC Chip has good performances to receive the multi mode signals as well as standard interface such as SPI, to connect the main CPU Unit.

  • In this paper, this study is aimed how to estimate the position of scattered pilot to be used to estimate channel in the OFDM System. The proposed method is possible to estimate the accurate position of scattered pilot to remove the phase error through cross-correlation between received signal and 4 symbol delay received signal.
