  • In this paper, we propose a network-based IP mobility management scheme, called Access Independent Mobile Service with IPv4/IPv6 Dual Stack (AIMS-DS), which can provide high-quality multimedia services to IPv4/IPv6 dual-stack mobile nodes (MNs) without any interruption over various wireless/wired access networks. The proposed scheme provides an MN with a fast and reliable mobility service among heterogeneous wireless access networks through the network-based control, the complete separation method of control and data plane, the cross-layer (layer2 and layer3) interworking method for handover control acceleration, etc, In addition, the proposed AIMS-DS can provide seamless mobility service to an MN under the environments of IPv4/IPv6 coexisting networks through the home address mobility support and transport network support. Through performance evaluation with computer simulations, we have shown the superiority of the proposed AIMS-DS in terms of handover latency, packet 1085 and packet delivery latency.

  • It is well known that, in the near future, the lifetime of the IPv4 address space will be limited and available 32-bit IP network addresses will not be left my more. In order to solve such IPv4 address space problem in an effective way, the transition to the new version using IPv6 architecture is inevitably required. This paper presents the design and implementation of IPv4/IPv6 dual stack at the GSM Phone based on Linux Kernel 2.4 IPv6 Protocol Stack. It designs appropriately in GSM Phone environment and it is tested by a network of Linux IPv4/IPv6 dual stack on PPP. The test was processed with a test scenario and it was found that the results were successful.

  • The IPv6(Internet Protocol version 6), a next generation Internet protocol. was standardized to solve the problems of the IPv4(Internet Protocol version 4). However, the IPv4 could not be actually converted to the IPv6 at one time. Therefore, the transition mechanism is thought to be very much important to be compatible with the IPv4 naturally and convert to the IPv6 network gradually. Despite of the development of various kinds of the transition mechanism, the IPv6 network was not expanded. The research was mainly made not for current system environment but for technical purposes. This paper investigated the performances through the transition mechanism and examined proper ways being applicable to current environment.

  • IPv6 enables stateless address configuration of hosts. Using this technique, a host in an IPv6 network can configure its address automatically with the help of a router. This eliminates the need for a server to manage the address dispatching state in conventional IPv4 networks. In this paper, we present a stateless configuration technique for routers. By expanding IPv6 stateless address configuration, a router can configure its network with the help of an upper level router, enabling a hierarchical, router-to-router network automatic configuration

  • This paper describes a mechanisms for IPv6 multihomming with loadsharing broker, focusing on the interdomain scalability and load sharing with redundancy on IPv6 networks. Unlike currently-practiced IPv4 multihoming, this model does not impact the worldwide routing table size, also it provides inbound load sharing at site level based on router renumbering, and multiple-prefix assigning techniques of IPv6. The proposed model has four modules such as building interfaces MIB module, priority list maintaining module, load detection module, and RRP configuration module.

  • Wireless AD-hoc network can construct a network itself without any arbitrator. Therefore, it is difficult to make preparation for disguised assault from an illegal node, and because lots of packets from disguised assault spread over whole network, it influences the network usability and livability. This thesis proposed a safe IPv6 tunnel broker (TB) based on TSP (Tunnel Setup Protocol) to improve safety of the wireless Ad-hoc network, and to solve security problem of a tunnel broker that makes a linkage IPv4 and IPv6. To communicate between client and the tunnel broker, proposed method does not base on HTTP, but S-HTTP (Secure-HTTP) and it uses encryption/decryption to send and receive XML document. Finally, this method encrypts (decrypts) important information by applying IPSec between client and TS (Tunnel Server).

  • The next generation Internet Protocol IPv6 that is appeared to solve the exhausting problem is now widely deployed in a testbed or commercial site. To successfully deploy IPv6, interoperation with exist IPv4 hosts and routers and interactions with many IPv4 applications are more important. The NAT-PT (Network Address Translation-Protocol Translation) among IPv6 transition mechanism enables the communication between IPv4 and IPv6 host with translating IPv4 address and IPv6 address. But for DNS and FTP, another specific mechanism is needed when internet address is included in packet payload area. This paper describes the design and implementation of IPv6-support FTP-ALG, (Application Layer Gateway) to enable FTP service between IPv4 node and IPv6 node.

  • The MANET(Mobile Ad Hoc Network) is an independent network that is oranized by only Mobile Hosts. MANET guarantees the mobility of the node and does not need a backbone network or a base station. Recently, there is a strong demand to connect MANET to the Internet. For the interconnection between MANET and Internet, Mobile hosts of MANET must have global IP address. The well known scheme of the address configuration for MANET is SAA(Stateless Address Autoconfiguration). SAA configurated IP address by node itself. The advantage of SAA is not requiring any server for address configuration. However the SAA has problems of unstable and inefficient interconnection on the AD Hoc Network. To solve this problem we propose a method that assigns an IPv6 Global address to the node through the Internet Gateway. The format of assigned IPv6 address is also defined. The simulation result demonstrates that the proposed method can support the host for fast getting of global IPv6 Address and Mobile IPv6 efficiently.

  • This paper describes implementation of IPv6-IPv4 transition toolbox named as 6TALK(IPv6 TrAansLator of Krv6) and some scenarios using 6TALK which enables IPv6 island to connect other IPv6 island or IPv4 island seamlessly. 6TALK implements some transition mechanisms suggested in NGTrans Working Group of IETF. Those mechanisms are composed of basic mechanism, tunneling, and applied mechanism such as DSTM. 6TALK provides functions which enable IPv6 network at the edge of existing network to communicate with IPv4 network by using these transition mechanisms. As major transition mechanisms in 6TALK we adopt NAT-PT/SIIT and DSTM/DSTM options and as implementation environment we use Linux Kernel 2.4.18 and Netfilter framework. Software modules implemented in Linux kernel was ported to hardware box using Motorola MPC 8260 processor. The transition mechanisms used in 6TALK are the ones predicted to be used in initial transition step to IPv6.
