This study investigated users' usage of mobile video service, users' perception and usage of mobile IPTV. The results show that 82.8% is using mobile video services and 33.6% of the entire respondents has the intention to use mobile IPTV with regards to future usage. They answered that 'various real-time broadcasting' and'mobile IPTV charges' were the major areas of considerations for mobile IPTV users. And we analyzed the most watching contents on mobile IPTV and the willingness to pay for one month. In addition, the main reasons for not using mobile IPTV were the charges for mobile IPTV. Based on these results, action plans for the promotion of mobile IPTV are proposed.

To boost the IPTV industry, it has being considered to provide terminal portability from one service provider to another for users. If the terminal portability is guaranteed, then a service user can purchase an IPTV terminal in a market and select an IPTV service provider. For this, the IPTV terminal should process a series of pre-configuration, so called provisioning procedure. Telecommunications Technology Association (TTA) established the standard of IPTV terminal provisioning procedure, TTAK.KO-08.0026. In this paper, we explain the revised standard TTAK.KO-08.0026/R2, and introduce the architecture, functions, operating procedures and parameters of the IPTV terminal provisioning system that we implemented based on it. Finally, we discuss the future issues of the standard of the IPTV terminal provisioning procedure.

At the most recent, IPTV service is increasing, which isa communicative broadcasting fusion service that provides various multimedia contents interactively followed by user's request through super high-speed internet. For IPTV user service with high mobility, IPTV user's enrollment is essential. However, IPTV service provided to mobile users can't provide the certification of mobile user securely. This paper proposes light user certification protocol which can certificate mobile users by attaching RFID to IPTV STB for secure awareness of mobile users who get IPTV service. The proposed protocol prevent reply attack and man-in-the-middle attack from happening oftenin a wireless section by transmitting the result value hashed by hash function with both its' ID and random number received from tag after tag transmits random number which generated randomly in the process of certification of mobile user to IPTV STB.

The convergence of broadcasting and telecommunication services is being accelerated by broadband networks, digital broadcasting and Web2.0. This paper describes the definition and service characteristics of IPTV as a representative of broadcasting and telecommunication convergence services. Especially, the changes of infrastructure and technology for IPTV2.0 are addressed in terms of the service features of mobility, intelligence and participation. IPTV2.0 shall be characterized by the open IPTV service based on Web2.0 and the mobile IPTV service over the heterogeneous networks employing various wireless/wired access technologies. The IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) and Service Delivery Platform (SDP) technologies are increasingly considered to support the personalization and openness. The mobility management technology is being evolved to provide QoS-guaranteed mobile communication services to users at anytime and anywhere. IPTV2.0 services and platforms are also anticipated to be core components to achieve knowledge-based ubiquitous society. IPTV2.0 contents are required to be integrated with the enhanced metadata to efficiently support search, selection, convergence and delivery of the contents. Moreover, those contents shall be enhanced to provide the scalable services which is adaptable to the network status and user preferences. Therefore, the networking technologies for IPTV2.0 should tightly cooperate with application services and adaptive contents. Those technologies will be developed to construct the ubiquitous content service platform considering the evolution of networks and various converged services.

IPTV hasn't fulfilled the expectations that it will substitute existing digital broadcasting service and serve new type of services such as interactive and multi-channels. Today's IPTV service just seems to change existing service platform to new one. In this situation, Open IPTV service has been on the rise, which make it possible for consumers to choice contents regardless of contents providers. However, the integration of variety service platforms such as rights protection solution is essential to provide Open IPTV service. In this paper, authoring and consuming system for package contents based on MPEG-21 Multimedia Framework which is developed for distributing media resources.

The convergence in telecommunication and broadcasting is one of the most popular topics in these days. For example, the characteristic of IPTV -internet protocol television-is controversial in the extreme. In Korea the IPTV operators are mainly the telecommunication service operators. So it is natural that the IPTV services are categorized to the telecommunication services. But the Broadcasting service providers, especially the CATV providers who can serve the TPS-triple play service- like IPTV players insist that the IPTV should be regulated as a broadcasting service. This paper will analyze whether the regulation in which the IPTV is categorized to one of the broadcasting services is better than the case of telecommunication services. To examine this, the social welfare analysis is conduced and the differential oligopoly market model is used. Together with that, this paper suggests that we can improve the social welfare by the asymmetric regulation between IPTV and D-CA TV. This means that in Korea the IPTV has a weak substitution relation with the D-CA TV and the IPTV should be dealed as a new convergence service that differs from traditional broadcasting services.

Recently IPTV that transmits multimedia contents in real time through internet, cable TV net and satelite net gets the limelight. But IPTV service that gives service to users by various media has a problem of not supporting user certification fully. This paper suggests a certification model which prevents getting access permission of IPTV service by sending illegal certification information by adolescent through integrating mobile communication technique with RFID(Radio Frequency IDentification) technique which is a key technique of Ubiquitous environment. This model performs the process of adult certification by keeping synchronization with user's certificaiton information that is saved in data-base of certification server and contents server after getting the system of class categorization in contents server to overcome disadvantage of simple adult certification system that is popular in the existing internet. Also, it adapts double hash chain technique not to down load illegally contents without the permission of manager even if an adolescent gets manager's approval key.

모바일 IPTV는 무선 인터넷 망을 이용하여 방송 서비스를 제공하는 기술로서 IPTV에 이동성이 더해진 기술이다. 고속의 이동환경에서 언제, 어디서나 고품질의 TV 및 VoD, 데이터 서비스를 제공해 주는 모바일 IPTV 서비스를 실현하기 위해 각 기술과 서비스들이 연구 개발되고 있다. 본 논문에서는 IPTV 표준화 동향에 대해서 분석하고 고품질의 모바일 IPTV 서비스 품질을 보장해주기 위한 핵심기술에 대해서 기술한다. 그리고 Mobile WiMAX와 3GPP/LTE 기반의 모바일 IPTV 시스템에 대해 기술한다.

The most important issue for successful deployment of IPTV service is the service quality. In this paper, we first choose critical quality metrics belonging to each layer of IPTV service transmission architecture and then analyze the relation between the quality parameters. For this purpose, we implement a test network that emulates the most practical environment in which IPTV service is provided and repeat measurements on the test network for the chosen metrics. Based on the analysis result, it is shown that packet losses have greater effect on the video quality of IPTV service comparing to delay and jitter.

In this paper we consider Internet Protocol Tele-Vision (IPTV) Service that started recently in Korea. IPTV makes it possible to watch high quality TV programs and a lot of multimedia contents with TV by way of Internet. The service providers are interested in the factors that influence the diffusion of new service such as IPTV. We therefore search the functional-attribute that would influence the acceptance of IPTV service, and propose a model for analyzing the relationship between the attributes and the intention of buying. The model is based on the extended Technology Acceptance Model (TAM). Survey results show that the significant functional attributes influencing the intention of buying are contents variety and convenience.
