  • The nipple-sharing technique for nipple reconstruction offers excellent tissue matching. The method used for nipple graft harvesting determines the quality of the graft and hence, the success of nipple sharing. Here, we described a guillotine technique wherein the nipple is first transfixed with 2 straight needles to stabilise it. Two No. 11 blades are then inserted in the center and simultaneously swept outwards to amputate the distal portion of the nipple. This technique provides good control, resulting in a very evenly cut base. The recipient bed is deepithelialized thinly, and the nipple graft is inset with interrupted 8-0 nylon sutures under magnification. Being a composite graft, it is protected with splint dressings for 6 weeks, and the dressing is regularly changed by the surgeon. The height of the nipple grafts ranges from 4 to 8 mm. This technique was performed in 9 patients with an average follow-up of 2.9 years (range, 1-4.5 years). Apposition between the nipple graft and its bed is crucial for the success of this technique. When correctly applied, we observed rapid revascularization of the graft.

  • In this paper, we proposed a hierarchical nearest-neighbor searching method for deciding fitness of a clustered segment. It is difficult to distinguish the difference between correct spots and atypical noisy spots in footprint patterns. Therefore we could not completely remove unsuitable noisy spots from binarized image in image preprocessing stage or clustering stage. As a preprocessing stage for recognition of insect footprints, this method decides whether a segment is suitable or not, using degree of clustered segment fitness, and then unsuitable segments are eliminated from patterns. Removing unsuitable segments can improve performance of feature extraction for recognition of inset footprints.

  • This paper deals with both experimental and theoretical methods for performance prediction of asymmetric stater propulsion systems which have been used for the purpose of recovery of a propeller slipstream rotational energy due to a stator located in front of the propeller. Using the developed computer code based on the lifting surface theory, theortical investigation on the interaction between the stator and the propeller is provided in order to obtain general insight on the performance characteristics of the propulsion systems in uniform and non-uniform flow. Such theoretical calculations have end agreements with model Inset results. The asymmetric stator would give an efficiency gain of about 6% to the compound propulsor system compared with the single propeller system.

  • The change of microstructure in the bonded interlayer and mechanical properties of the joints were investigated during Transient Liquid Phase Diffusion Bonding(TLP bonding) of STS304/SM17C and STS304/SM45C couples using Ni base amorphous alloys added boron and prepared alloy as insert metal. Main experimental results obtained in this study are as follows: 1) Isothermal solidification process was completed much faster than theoretically expected time, 14ks at 1473K temperature. Its completion times were 3.6ks at 1423K, 2.5ks at 1473K and 1.6ks at 1523K respectively. 2) As the concentration of boron in the insert metal increased, the more borides were precipitated near bonded interlayer and grain boundary of STS304 side during isothermal solidification process, its products were $M_{23}P(C,B)_6}_3)$ The formation of grain boundary during isothermal solidification process was completed at structural carbon steel after starting the solidfication at STS304 stainless steel. 4) The highest value of hardness was obtained at bonded interface of STS304 side. The desirable tensile properties were obtained from STS304/SM17C, STS304/SM45C using MBF50 and experimentally prepared insert metal with low boron concentration.

  • This paper presents novel architectures for power amplifier (PA) relying on 3rd harmonic-tuning technique and dual feeding antenna structure for the isolation of the Tx and the Rx ports. Active integrated antenna (AIA) with power amplifier makes the problem of the isolation between the Tx and the Rx ports occur So, this paper suggests dual feeding and dual resonant structures of the AIA with PA are possible to obtain the high isolation between the Tx and the Rx signals. Dual resonant triangular microstrip antenna, which can replace power amplifier tuning circuit, with slots-loaded and characteristic of the isolation between the Tx and the Rx ports using inset microstrip line feeding and probe feeding methods is proposed and experimentally studied for the case of thin substrate.

  • In this paper, a novel particle swarm optimization method based on IE3D is used to design a mobile communication microstrip patch antenna. The aim of the paper is to design and fabricate an inset fed rectangular microstrip antenna and study the effect of antenna dimensions length (L), width (W) and substrate parameters relative dielectric constant (${\varepsilon}r$), substrate thickness on radiation parameters of band width. PSO algorism was applied to IE3D, low resistance against, band width and advantage, were improved.

  • Various types of microstrip antennas can be used for many applications in wireless communication systems. In this paper, we studied a design method for a broadband dual-fed stacked microstrip patch antenna. The impedance bandwidth is improved by adjusting the sizes of main radiating patch and parasitic patch, the distance between the patches, the length of inset feed line, etc. The antenna is designed by simulation for an operation in the frequency range of 2.3-2.7 GHz, and the antenna characteristics such as return loss, gain, radiation patterns are examined.

  • Cross-leg flaps are a useful reconstructive option for complex lower limb defects when free flaps cannot be performed owing to vessel damage. We describe the use of the extended distally based sural artery flap in a cross-leg fashion for lower extremity coverage in three patients. To maximise the viability of these extended flaps, a delay was performed by raising them in a bipedicled fashion before gradual division of the tip over 5 to 7 days for cross-leg transfer. Rigid coupling of the lower limbs with external fixators was critical in preventing flap avulsion and to promote neovascular takeover. The pedicle was gradually divided over the ensuing 7 to 14 days before full flap inset and removal of the external fixators. In all three patients, the flaps survived with no complications and successful coverage of the critical defect was achieved. One patient developed a grade 2 pressure injury on his heel that resolved with conservative dressings. The donor sites and external fixator pin wounds healed well, with no functional morbidity. The cross-leg extended distally based sural artery flap is a reliable reconstructive option in challenging scenarios. Adequate flap delay, manoeuvres to reduce congestion, and postoperative rigid immobilization are key to a successful outcome.
