  • In order to meet the international performance requirements for eLoran testbed operation, it is necessary to measure ASF (Additional Secondary Factor) of vessel's route as well as differential correction and the provision using differential Loran (dLoran) station operation. According to HEA (Harbor Entrance and Approach) performance of the IMO, the position accuracy should be within 10meters. Therefore this paper presents the possibility to meet the position accuracy of the IMO HEA through simulation results.

  • Android-based smartphones receive the global navigation satellite system (GNSS) signals to determine their location and provide the GNSS raw measurement to users. The available GNSS signals on the current Android devices are GPS, GLONASS, Galileo, BeiDou, QZSS. This research has analyzed the performance of multi-GNSS position accuracy based on the pseudorange of the smartphone for maritime users. Smartphones capable of receiving dual-frequency are installed on a ship, and multi-GNSS raw information in maritime environment was measured to present the results of comparing the GNSS pseudorange-based dual-frequency positioning performance for each smarphone. Furthermore, we analyzed whether the results of the positioning performance can meet the HEA requirement of IMO for maritime navigation users. As the results of maritime experiment, it was confirmed that in the case of the smartphones supporting the dual-frequency, the position accuracy within 6 meters (95%) could be obtained, and the HEA position accuracy performance within 10 meters (95%) required by IMO could be achieved.

  • Even in the marine industry was required the looser positioning performance as compared to other application domain, a high-quality positioning performance and reliability are becoming ever more important. The high-quality performance includes not only accuracy but also integrity, continuity, and availability. However, current DGPS service is not satisfying the minimum positioning performance requirements for maritime user proposed by IMO. Especially, no one can guarantee the required integrity performance by DGPS service. This paper presents the advanced monitoring concept to strengthen the performance of current DGPS through the enhanced monitoring, guarantee and notice functions. To this, the limitations of the integrity monitoring function of current DGPS are analyzed, and a countermeasure is prepared to improve the limitations of the current integrity monitoring function. This paper can be applied as basis research to improvement of the DGPS service.

  • This paper addresses on the International technical trends, standards, and development status of terrestrial radionavigation system to provide more accurate and fail-safe Positioning, Navigation, and Timing (PNT) Information available in maritime navigation environment. We analyze the performance result of pilot service in enhanced Long range navigation (eLoran) testbed environment using Low Frequency (LF) signal, and describe the development status of Ranging-Mode (R-Mode) system using Medium Frequency (MF) and Very High Frequency (VHF) to meet the Harbor Entrances and Approaches (HEA) requirement of International Maritime Organization (IMO) within 10m position accuracy. Furthermore, we present an architecture for integrated service of satellite-terrestrial navigation system and future maritime applicable fields. As the core information infrastructure of future navigation for 4th industrial revolution, this paper will be contributed to determining the direction of present and future to provide fail-safe PNT service with Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) based on the technical enhancement of terrestrial integrated navigation system.
