  • 센서 네트워크는 그 특성 상 에너지 제약이 심하며, 최근에는 움직이는 대상에 deploy이 되어 mobile 환경에서의 연구가 활발히 진행되고 있다. Mobile 센서 네트워크의 자원 최적 할당을 위해 논문에서는 WPAN과 같은 채널 대역을 쓰는 IEEE 802.11과 공존 문제에 대해서 다루고 이런 상황에서 간섭을 회피하고 QoS를 높이기 위한 채널 선택 방법에 대해 연구하였다. 본 방식의 channel allocation 알고리즘을 사용하면 효과적으로 WPAN에서 WLAN의 interference를 피할수 있게 된다.

Design of Integrated LTCC Front-End Module using Measurement-Based Behavioral Model for IEEE 802.11a WLAN Applications (측정기반 거동 모델을 이용한 IEEE 802.11a 무선랜용 LTCC Front-End 모듈 집적화 설계)

  • This paper describes the design and implementation of an integrated LTCC front-end module for the IEEE802.11a WLAN applications by performing the behavioral-level simulation using measurement-based behavioral model. To meet the IEEE802.11a WLAN standard, a system transmitting 1024 symbols through 64-QAM process at the rate of 54Mbps should be implemented and nonlinear properties are confirmed by simulations of ACPR and EVM in this circumstance. The right offsets of ACPR which are 30MHz, 20MHz, and 11MHz distant from the center frequency of 5.8GHz are 49.36dBc, 36.90dBc, and 24.58dBc, respectively. The left offsets are 50.14dBc, 30.04dBc, and 28.85dBc, respectively and EVM is 2.94%. The size of the module implemented with LTCC five-layer substrates is $13.4mm{\times}14.2mm$. The measured characteristics of the transmitter show P1dB of 16.2dBm and power gain of 16.73dB. Those of the receiver exhibit the small signal gain of 16.24dB and noise figure of 7.83dB.

  • In this paper, the triple-band planar monopole antennas are designed for cellular communication, WiBro and WLAN(IEEE802.llb/g) communication and WLAN(IEEE802.lla) communication of 5GHz band. Various types of antennas are designed and examined experimentally as bended in the low and middle band radiation elements to decrease antennas size and increased radiation elements width to improve bandwidth. The proposed antennas are improved by 11% in antenna size with bended low-band radiation elements down and are extended by 30%$\sim$40% in bandwidth by increasing the width of the radiation element at 800MHz band.

  • The existing wireless LAN standard IEEE802.11b has many vulnerabilities from security point of view. The authentication mechanisms in IEEE802.11b have many vulnerabilities. As a result to complement the weak of IEEE802.11b authentication, the IEEE802.1x had been developed in the sense of providing strong user authentication with appropriate mechanism. But this mechanism does not perform AP authentication and there are also some weak points. And in confidentiality and message Integrity case, WEP is weak from key stream reuse attack, IV reuse attack and so on. For that reason, in this paper we propose secure wireless LAN system. Our system provides strong user authentication, confidentiality, and message integrity based on existing IEEE802.1x framework and TLS.

Analytical Modeling of TCP Dynamics in Infrastructure-Based IEEE 802.11 WLANs

  • IEEE 802.11 wireless local area network (WLAN) has become the prevailing solution for wireless Internet access while transport control protocol (TCP) is the dominant transport-layer protocol in the Internet. It is known that, in an infrastructure-based WLAN with multiple stations carrying long-lived TCP flows, the number of TCP stations that are actively contending to access the wireless channel remains very small. Hence, the aggregate TCP throughput is basically independent of the total number of TCP stations. This phenomenon is due to the closed-loop nature of TCP flow control and the bottleneck downlink (i.e., access point-to-station) transmissions in infrastructure-based WLANs. In this paper, we develop a comprehensive analytical model to study TCP dynamics in infrastructure-based 802.11 WLANs. We calculate the average number of active TCP stations and the aggregate TCP throughput using our model for given total number of TCP stations and the maximum TCP receive window size. We find out that the default minimum contention window sizes specified in the standards (i.e., 31 and 15 for 802.11b and 802.11a, respectively) are not optimal in terms of TCP throughput maximization. Via ns-2 simulation, we verify the correctness of our analytical model and study the effects of some of the simplifying assumptions employed in the model. Simulation results show that our model is reasonably accurate, particularly when the wireline delay is small and/or the packet loss rate is low.

A New Bandwidth Allocation Scheme for Hard Real-time Communication on Dual IEEE 802.11 WLANs (이중 IEEE 802.11 WLAN에서 경성 실시간 통신을 위한 대역폭 할당)

  • This paper proposes and analyzes a message scheduling scheme and corresponding bandwidth allocation method for the hard real-time communication on dual standard 802.11 Wireless LANs. By making the superframeof one network precede that of the other by half, the dual network architecture can minimize the effect of deferred beacon and reduce the worst case waiting timeby half. The effect of deferred beacon is formalized and directly considered to decide the polling schedule of PCF phase. Simulation results executed via ns-2 show that the proposed scheme can improve the schedulability by 3$36\%$ for real-time messages and give $9\%$ more bandwidth to non-real-time messages for the given stream sets, compared with the network whose bandwidth is just doubled with the same MAC.

  • 최근 높은 이동성을 제공하는 3G 이동통신시스템과 저렴하고 빠른 무선 인터넷을 제공하는 Wireless LAN간의 연동에 의한 무선 인터넷의 상용화가 눈앞에 다가왔다. 이와 함께 전송 속도 및 대역폭 등의 서로 다른 무선 특성을 가진 이질망간의 연동으로 서비스 절단 및 열화와 같은 서비스 품질(QoS) 보장 문제가 발생한다. 특히, 비동기 방식의 3GPP 이동통신시스템에서 패킷 기반 서비스들이 이미 엄격한 QoS 메커니즘을 제공하는 것과는 대조적으로 IEEE 802.11 기반의 WLAN에서는 IEEE 802.11e를 중심으로한 표준화가 최근 마무리중에 있다. 이러한 상황에서 현재 3GPP 시스템 구조작업반인 SA WG2에서는 Release 7 기반의 문서인 TR 23.836을 중심으로 3GPPWLAN연동을 위한 QoS 및 정책(policy)에 대한 표준화 작업을 진행하고 있다. 본 고에서는 최근 진행되고 있는 TR 23.836 문서를 중심으로 3GPP-WLAN 연동을 위한 QoS 보장에 대한 고려사항 및 표준화 동향을 살펴보고자 한다.

  • The paradigm of information & communication is rapidly changed into ubiquitous environment based electromagnetic wave, and antenna technology in the wireless ubiquitous communication is remarkably developed. Mini chip antenna has its within small card compared to the external AP antenna. Designed and Fabricated WLAN antenna has a broadband characteristics of 2.4~2.5GHz and 4.9~5.85GHz, and can be used triple mode of IEEE 802.11.a,g.b, and it has comparatively a constant performance in the dual frequency band.

Effective Packet Transmission Scheme in Multirate WLAN (다중 전송률 지원 무선랜에서 효율적인 패킷 전송 기법)

  • To cope with channel variation, wireless networks such as IEEE 802.11 WLAN provide multiple transmission rates by employing different channel modulation and coding schemes. However, the coexistence of different transmission rates degrades the total system performance of the network. In order to eliminate this performance abnormality and improve protocol capacity, we propose a new Packet transmission algorithm, the RAT(Rate-Adapted Transmission) scheme. The RAT scheme distributes the wireless channel fairly based on the channel occupancy time. Moreover, it efficiently transmits packets even in a single station using rate-based queue management. Therefore, the RAT scheme obtains not only the inter-rate contention gain among stations but also the intra-rate contention gain among connections in a single station.

  • In this paper, we discuss the design of the Digital Down Converters for the IEEE 802.11 wireless LAN receiver, which can be used for the customized receiver. The customized receiver can be used for special puropsed services which cannot be realized using the general custom chip. In the OFDM receiver, DDC receives the up sampled Inphase/Quadrature signal from the AD converter and process down sampling and filtering procedures using the Cascaded Intergrator Filter and FIR filters. We discuss the structure and design methodology of DDC's and analyze the simulation results.
