In this paper, a novel multiple multicast feed-back scheme for improving multimedia multicast and broadcast system based on IEEE 802.11. The proposed scheme improves multicast PPDU delivery ratio of next generation wireless LAN by utilizing multicast feed-back information. By using the proposed scheme, regardless of its size of multicast group, an AP STA could collect transmission failure information by receiving simultaneous NAK frame. The proposed scheme shows large performance enhancement in broadcast or multicast system of Intelligent Transport System and Passenger Entertainment Service. According to the analysis results, the proposed scheme could enhance wireless LAN multicast and broadcast performance significantly.
IEEE802.11 Wireless LAN(WLAN) is being widely used in public space such as airport, and increases the networking boundary in campus and enterprise, and it has lastly attracted considerable attention for mesh network and converged network with other 3G mobile communication networks. In WLAN, load balancing among Access Points(AP) is an important issue for efficient resource management or supporting the Quality of Service(QoS) of traffic, but most researches focused on the AP selection in network entry or roaming of Stations(STA). In this paper, we propose an AP-Initiated Flow Redirection(FR) for AP load balancing by monitoring AP's availability in the true sense. When the AP's resource becomes almost saturated, that is used more than a specific threshold, the AP queries the roaming possible neighbor APs about their availability and calculates the distribution of traffic load with statistical methods such as entropy or chi-square. Finally, the AP decides flows and new APs for redirection and performs it. Our simulation results show that our FR mechanism increases the performance in the various views.
Since multimedia data takes large part of realtime transmission in wireless communication environments such as IEEE 802.11, QoS issues became one of the important problems with network performance. 802.11e MAC provides differentiated services based on priority schemes to solve existing 802.11 MAC problems. The TXOP is an important factor with the priority to improve network performance and QoS because it defines the time duration in which multiple frames can be transferred at one time for each station. In this paper, therefore frame sizes, TXOP Limit, and Priority values in accordance with the number of stations are experimented and derived for best network performance and QoS. Using 802.11e standard parameters, simulation results show the best throughput when the number of stations is 5 and TXOP Limit value is 6.016ms. For fairness, the best result is achieved at 3.008ms of TXOP Limit value and 15-31 of CW(Contention Window) that is lower priority than CW 7-15.

This paper distinguish between the types of LANs used to connect the internet used by many in the fourth industrial era and compare speeds. 802.11 is fastest and it's running at 300Mbps. And second fastest is running at 54Mbps. In compare second, 802.11n is faster second at six times. So we can prediction the wireless lan's transmission speed will be faster in future.

This paper proposes the improved handoff mechanism for IEEE 802.11 wireless LANs. When a wireless mobile node moves out of the coverage of its currently associated AP(Access Point) and needs to be re-associated with a new AP, a handoff procedure is initiated. Channel scanning process during a handoff procedure occupies over 90% of total handoff latency. Long latency leads to many packet losses and service discontinuity, which degrades wireless network performance. This paper describes about the new mechanism to improve handoff performance by skipping channel scanning during a handoff procedure. In oerder for that, acquires neighboring AP information such as its address, location, channel number in use, the number of associated nodes before handoff, and delivers the information to its associated mobile nodes. The mobile nodes can reduce handoff latency and perform more exact handoff using the delivered AP information. We have conducted simulations to analyze our proposal's performance and confirmed that handoff latency and the number of handoff occurrences are decreased.

In this paper, MAC(Medium Access Control) algorithm for the IEEE 802.11 DCF(Distributed Coordination Function) improving the performance is proposed and analyzed by simulation. The MAC of IEEE 802.11 WLAN to control data transmission uses two control methods called DCF and PCF(Point Coordination function). The DCF controls the transmission based on CSMA/CA(Carrier Sense Multiple Access With Collision Avoidance). The DCF shows excellent performance relatively in situation that competition station is less but has a problem that performance is fallen from throughput and delay viewpoint in situation that competition station is increased. This paper proposes an enhanced DCF algorithm that increases the CW to maximal CW after collision and decreases the CW smoothly after successful transmission in order to reduce the collision probability by utilizing the current status information of WLAN. To prove efficiency of proposed algorithm, a lots of simulations are conducted and analyzed.

Reducing handoff latency is essential in providing seamless multimedia service in Wireless LAN based on the IEEE 802.11 standard. Reducing authentication delay is critical in reducing handoff latency. To this end, several authentication protocols for fBst handoff have been proposed. Mishra et al. used proactive key distribution to improve the authentication delay incurred in the current standard and Park et al. proposed a new authentication protocol based on Blom's key pre-distribution scheme. In this paper, we propose an enhanced authentication protocol based on Bresson et al.'s group key protocol. If a mobile node has previously access the network, our proposed protocol only requires simple hash operations in providing mutual authentication between a mobile node and access points. Our protocol is more efficient than Park et al.'s and Mishra et al.'s technique can be used in our protocol to further enhance our protocol.
By minimizing the burst error of data and correcting the error, we can define the convolution coding and interleaving in IEEE 802.11a wireless tan system. Two step block interleaver was decided by coded bits per OFDM symbol and due to this it comes to the delay time in IEEE 802.11a. This is the point of the question which we must consider. We try to decrease the delay time by all 48-clock from interleavings, and we have proposed a way carried out the interleaving outputs per symbol. So in comparison with the existing interleaver, we can decrease the delay time in reading and writing data, as well as reduce the delay time of bit re-ordering per symbol. Also this scheme is apply in all x-QAM cases.

In the IEEE 802.11 DCF (Distributed Coordination Function) protocol, the binary exponential backoff algorithm is used to avoid data collisions. However, as the number of stations increases of, the collision probability tends to grow and the overall network performance is reduced. To solve this problem, this paper proposes a data transmission scheme based on the channel reservation method. In the proposed scheme, channel time is divided into reservation period and contention period. During the reservation period, stations succeeded in channel reservation transmit their own data packets in sequence without contention. During the contention period, each station sends its data packets through contentions as in DCF. During both the reservation period and the contention period, each station sends a request for channel reservation for the next reservation period to an AP (Access Point). After receiving such a channel reservation request from each station, the AP decides whether the reservation is succeeded and sends the result via a beacon frame to each station. Performance of the proposed scheme is analyzed through simulations. The simulation results show that the proposed scheme tends to reduce the collision probability of DCF and to improve the overall network performance.
