Electromagnetic Susceptiblity Experiments for Battery Protection Circuit Module (배터리 보호회로 모듈에 대한 전자파 내성 실험)

  • In this paper, we have studied electromagnetic susceptibility tests of the battery protection circuit module of a lithium ion battery. Electromagnetic susceptibility tests can be divided into conducted susceptibility for electromagnetic waves flowing through power lines, input / output lines, antenna ports, and radiated susceptibility for spatially radiated electromagnetic waves. A lithium ion battery of S company was used as an experimental sample, and conducted susceptibility tests were conducted on Surge (IEC 61000-4-5), Ring wave (IEC 61000-4-12), and Damped oscillatory wave(IEC 61000-4-18). Radiated susceptibility tests were performed according to IEC 61000-4-3.

  • ISO/IEC14443-1(1), ISO/IEC10536-1(2), 그리고 ISO/IEC15693-1(3)에서 정의하고 있는 비접촉식 카드의 교류전기장 및 교류자기장에 대한 내성력 시험에 대해 살펴보고자 한다. 상기 규격은 ISO/IEC JTC1 기술위원회의 SC17에서 다루고 있으며, 아직 상기 표준 규격은 초안 상태에 있어 상세한 시험 방법에 대한 규격이 마련되어 있지 않은 실정이다. 그럼에도 불구하고 칩 카드 수입국은 수출업자에게 교류전기장 및 교류자기장 내성시험을 요구하고 있다. 따라서 업계에서는 시험 시설, 시험 방법, 시험 절차, 시험 평가 부분에서 많은 혼란이 발생되고 있다. 이러한 시험에 대한 대응책이 국가적 차원에서 시급히 마련되어야 할 것이다. 본 고에서는 이를 위한 일련의 과정으로서, 칩 카드 관련 국제 규격(1)-(5) 동향을 살펴보고, 교류전기장 및 교류자기장 내성력 시험 절차를 마련하기 위한 관점에서 IEC61000 시리즈 중에서 RF 복사 내성시험인 IEC61000-4-3(6), IEC61000-4-8, IEC61000-4-9, IEC61000-4-10, IEC61000-4-23(7)에 대한 분석을 동시에 실시하였다.

  • The high-altitude electromagnetic pulse(HEMP) conducted environment and the HEMP radiated environment are established as the consequences of a high-altitude nuclear explosion. The IEC 61000-2-10, the international standard, defines the HEMP conducted environment. The IEC 61000-5-5 defines how protective devices for conducted disturbance proposed for HEMP protection shall be specified. The IEC 61000-4-24 deals with methods for testing protective devices for HEMP conducted disturbance. The IEC 61000-4-24:1997 mainly describes the measurement method of small protective components. However, it does not provide the measurement method for a combination filter of a protective component and a filter which is widely used in recent. It is important to consider the characteristic of the measurement setup parameters like thickness and length of the cable and its height above ground plane etc. in establishing measurement setup because HEMP conducted disturbances include the frequency spectrum below 50 MHz. This paper deals with the optimized measurement method, considering the frequency spectrum of HEMP conducted disturbance, current waveform, and analyzing the effects of cables existing in the measurement setup.

  • 전압의 시간적 변동으로 인하여 시각적 혹은 심리적으로 인식되는 불편함을 나타내는 플리커는 인간의 생체심리학적 인지능력과 관련이 있으며, 인간의 눈은 0.3%에서 0.4%의 매우 작은 전압변동에 대하여 5Hz에서 20Hz의 변조 주파수에서 민감하게 반응하며, IEC는 실증시험을 통해 8.8Hz의 전압변동에서 가장 민감하게 인식하는 것을 확인하였다. 이러한 플리커는 시각적 불쾌감과 함께 지속적인 경우 회전기와 같은 기기들에 악영향을 주며, 전자장비, 전구, CRT 장비, UPS 동기상실, 제어설비 및 보호설비의 오동작 발생으로 효과적으로 관리가 필요하다. 현재 국내 전기품질 관리기준은 IEC 국제규격을 바탕으로 제 개정 작업이 진행되고 있어 본 논문에서는 IEC 61000-3-7 국제규격을 국내 적용을 위해 필요한 국내 전력계통의 플리커 전달계수를 제시하였다.

  • Since the most of malfunctions in the industrial equipment controlled by processors is occurred by the Electrical Fast Transient(EFT), the International Electrotechnical Commission(IEC) prepared the dummy signal to test the immunity level of the equipments. In this paper, we designed a new EMC fitter for power line in break-box, which consist of the feed-through capacitor and ferrite materials with high permeability, which was wound or inserted, in the second layer of the power cable in order to increase common mode inductance. We have obtained a excellent insertion loss characteristics over wide frequency band from 10 MHz up to 1.5 GHz. It is expected that the new EMC filter could be effectively used for industrial, MIL, and medical equipments to reduce a malfunctions and be suitable for IEC 61000-4-4.

  • This paper describes a new transient voltage suppressor(TVS) with a low insertion loss and a high cut-off frequency to protect antenna circuit from transient voltages. Conventional protection devices have some problems such as a low frequency bandwidth and a high insertion loss. In order to improve these limitations, a coaxal type TVS, which consists of a gas tube is developed. The performance of the proposed transient voltage suppressor is tested by using a combination surge generator specified in IEC 61000-4-5 standard and by using a network analyzer of 40 MHz ${\sim}$ 5 GHz bandwidth. From the experimental results, it is confirmed that the proposed TVS has an enough protection performance in a low insertion loss and a high cut-off frequency.

  • This paper describes the design and fabrication of a home-panel board for electromagnetic compatibility which can protect home-electric appliances from transient voltages and power line noise. The proposed panel board include a transient voltage blocking device and a EMI filter which consisted of varistors, capacitors, and bus line inductance.A performance test of the prototype panel board, blocking characteristics to transient voltages and reduction characteristics to power line noise, are carried out by using a combination surge generator standardized in IEC and a network analyzer.The results showed that the proposed panel board is satisfied with the surge immunity level of IEC 61000-4-5, and has an over 20[dB] noise reduction performance in ranges from 150[kHz]∼30[MHz].

  • Due to the miniaturization of electrical components and assembles on signal circuits, transient overvoltages caused by switching operation or lightning surges have become more interesting concern to the field of electrical engineering. In this paper, the development of surge protective devices(SPDs) that can protect sensitive signal device on shipboard from overvoltages are described. Two kinds of SPDs are designed and tested by using a combination surge generator which can produce the standard impulse current of 8/20${\mu}s$ 2.1kA according to the IEC 61000-4-5 standard. From the simulation and experimental results, it is confirmed that the proposed SPDs have an enough protection performance with a low insertion loss and a low clamping voltage.

  • A interference of outside electric source and electric fast transient(EFT) are origins of destroy and malfunction in the precise electrical and electronic equipments. It makes a serious obstacle as the form of conducted noise. Therefore, it is strongly needed to protect precision electrical and electronic equipments from the interference and EFT. In this research, a EMC filter composed of feed-through capacitors and ferrite beads of high permeability is designed and it's properties are investigated for PDP. The filter produced in this research have wide band frequency characteristics and more than 40 dB reflection loss in the frequence of 10 MHz∼1.5 GHz which satisfy the standard of CISPR Pub. 22 and the level 4 of IEC 61000-4-4.

  • Rapid developments in the field of electronic communication have given people's daily life much more convenience and abundance. However, making precise electrical and electronic devices and control systems lighter, smaller, and faster have caused lots of problems such as interference of external electric source, malfunction brought by electric fast transient(EFT), and influence on human body. In this research, the EMC filter in the high powered breaker was designed and fabricated as a countermeasure. The filter attenuated noise more than 30 ~ 75 dB in the range of 10 MHz ~ 1.5 GHz. And, when the EFT of 4 kV in the level 4 of IEC 61000-4-4 was induced, it was soon suppressed to 600 V.
