  • Exact $D_{s}$-efficient designs for the precise estimation of all the coefficients of the quadratic terms are studied in a quadratic response surface model. Efficient exact designs are constructed for 2 q 5 w.r.t. $D_{s}$-optimaity criterion based on Pesotchinsky's(1975) and approximate $D_{s}$-optimal design given in Lim & Studden(1988) . Moreover, they seem to have reasonably good D-efficiencies. Similar idea could apply to q$\geq$6 cases.

  • In this paper a discrete time model for the identification of nonlinear vibration system with stick-slip friction is proposed. The proposed model can handle the highly nonlinear behavior of the friction such as stick-slip phenomenon and Stribeck effect. The basic idea of the proposed model is as follows : If the nonlinearity of the system can be predicted as a simple function then this nonlinear function term cab be directly used in the discrete time model. By doing this the number of nonlinear terms in the model can be much less than those of NARMAX model which is widely used nonlinear discrete model. The simulation result shows that the proposed model can estimate the response of the nonlinear vibration system with stick-slip friction very well with less computational effort.

  • The problem of 'outliers', observations which look suspicious in some way, has long been one of the most concern in the statistical structure to experimenters and data analysts. We propose a model for an outlier problem and also analyze it in linear regression model using a Bayesian approach. Then we use the mean-shift model and SSVS(George and McCulloch, 1993)'s idea which is based on the data augmentation method. The advantage of proposed method is to find a subset of data which is most suspicious in the given model by the posterior probability. The MCMC method(Gibbs sampler) can be used to overcome the complicated Bayesian computation. Finally, a proposed method is applied to a simulated data and a real data.

  • This paper proposes an idea of reverse modeling that analyzes LP models and then converts them into an object-oriented model repository. The process of reverse modeling consists of (1) identifying and analyzing source models by meta processor, (2) model decomposition and generalization to scan the models and divide them into model components, and (3) deriving model selection rules from the components by rule generator. Through the process, we can extract reusable model components and build a model base with model selectioon rules. Examples with models created by SML and MODLER modeling languages are given to illustrate the methods. The model base management capabilities provided by reverse modeling can increase the reusabioity of current modeling tools.

  • The free-model concept is introduced as an alternative intelligent system technique to design a controller with input and output data only. The idea of free model comes from the Taylor series approximation, where an output can be estimated when such data as position, velocity, and acceleration are known. The parameters in the free model can be estimated using the input-output data and a controller can be designed based on the free model. The free model thus developed is shown to be controllable, observable, and robust. The accuracy of the free-model approximation can be improved by increasing the observation window and the order of the free model. The LQR method is applied to the free model to design power system stabilizers ...

  • In this paper, a parameter estimator is developed for the plant model whose structure is represented by the Takagi-Sugeno model. The essential idea behind the on-line estimation is the comparison of the measured stated with the state of an estimation model whose structure is the same as that of the parameterized model. Based on the parameter estimation scheme, and indirect Model Reference Adaptive Fuzzy control(MRAFC) scheme is proposed to provide asymptotic tracking of a reference signal for the systems with uncertain for slowly time-varying parameters. The developed control law and adaptive law guarantee the boundedness of all signals in the closed-loop systems. In addition, the plant state tracks the state of the reference model asymptotically with time for any bounded reference input signal.

  • As the number of aged bridges increases, the development of efficient bridge maintenance techniques is becoming more important. Particularly, there have been many studies on digital-twin models of bridges for maintenance and SHM (Structure Health Monitering). However, in order to use the digital-twin model for maintenance of the bridge, the model updating process that matches the structural response between the real bridge and the digital-twin bridge model must be done. This study presents a model updating method that adjusts bridge's stiffness and boundary condition with genetic algorithm (GA) using static displacements and verified proposed updating method through field test on PSC girder bridge. This study also proposes a conceptual idea to construct an efficient bridge maintenance system by applying the updated numerical analysis model to the digital-twin model.

  • The disturbed state concept (DSC) proposed here is based on the idea that a deforming material element can be treated as a mixture of two constituent parts in the relative intact (Rl) and fully adjusted (FA) states, referred to as reference states. Based on this idea, DSC provides a unified constitutive model for the characteristics of saturated sands under cyclic loading. The model parameters for saturated sands are evaluated by using data from truly triaxial test device, The laboratory test results are also used for the verification of D SC model. In general, the model predictions are found to provide satisfactory correlation with the test results. From the results of this research, it can be stated that the DSC model is capable of characterizing the cyclic behavior of saturated sands under dynamic loading.

  • Patent strategy research has focused on the efficiency of licensing for investigation, analysis and utilization of application management, product and development task in finding patent idea, to establish patent strategy linked with management strategy and technology strategy. However, it is difficult to find the research on patent strategy that reflects an adaptive culture to enhance the internalization and performance of the established strategy. As a result, companies have been striving to imitate patent strategies of advanced companies that do not consider their industry and organizational culture. This study proposes a method of defining a firm 's patent strategy according to the competing value model that analyzes organizational culture as four frameworks. This study verifies the classification method through case studies, suggests a suitable patent strategy for the patent strategy type. This study has contributions in that discussing from a new point of view based on organizational culture theory and providing a IP strategic model with high practicality.

  • Problem-Based Learning is focused, experiential learning organized around the investigation and resolution of messy, real-world problem. It is both a curriculum organizer and instructional strategy, two complementary processes. The PBL model developed in this study was composed the two components of Problem Design(curriculum organizer) and Problem Implementation(instructional strategy). The basic process of Problem Implementation Model were composed the 8 steps ; 1) the identification of problem, 2) the specification of problem, 3) the exploration and generation for solution, 4) the selecting of best idea, 5) the specific planning of best idea, 6) the implementation and realization, 7) the evaluation, 8) the applying and reflection.
