A new monoterpene, crocusatin M (1), was isolated from the flower buds of Buddleja officinalis, together with four known monoterpenes, (6R)-hydroxy-1,1,5-trimethylcyclohex-4-enone (2), (+)-dehydrovomifoliol (3), 7-epiloliolide (4), and crocusatin D (5). Their structures were determined by an extensive analysis of 1D, 2D NMR, HRESI-MS, and CD data as well as by comparison of their spectroscopic data with those of literatures. All isolates were evaluated for inhibitory activities on LPS-induced nitric oxide production in RAW 264.7 cells. Among them, compounds 2 and 3 showed moderate inhibitory effects with $IC_{50}$ values of 63.8 and 24.4 ${\mu}g/ml$, respectively.
High-speed device is essential to optoelectric IC for optical storage system such as CD-ROM, DVD, and to ADC for high-speed communication system. This paper represents the BiCMOS process which contains high-speed SAVEN bipolar transistor and analyzes the frequency and switching characteristics of it briefly. Finally, to prove that the SAVEN device is adequate for high-speed system, latched comparator operating at 500MHz is designed with the SPICE parameter extracted from BiCMOS device simulation.
Two new thiodiketopiperazines (TDKPs), designated graphiumins I (1) and J (2), were isolated from the culture broth of the marine-derived fungus Graphium sp. OPMF00224 by solvent extraction, silica gel column chromatography, and HPLC. Their absolute structures were elucidated by spectroscopic analyses (1D and 2D NMR data, ROESY correlations, and CD data) and chemical methods. They were found to be structurally rare TDKPs with a phenylalanine-derived indolin substructure. Compounds 1 and 2 inhibited yellow pigment production by methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) with $IC_{50}$ values of 63.5 and $76.5{\mu}g/ml$, respectively, without inhibiting its growth, even at $250{\mu}g/ml$.

This study has focused on investigation on As and heavy metal contamination derived from metalliferous mining activities in the Choongbuk Province in Korea. Soil, mine effluent, surface water and ground water samples were taken in and around 27 abandoned metal mines, and analyzed for As, Cd, Cu, Ni, Pb and Zn using AAS and anions in water samples using IC. In general, the heavy metal concentrations in soils decreased with Increasing distance from the each mine audit. Tailings and mine waste soils from several mines contained over the guideline of Soil Conservation Act in Korea. Soil samples from the Seobo, Honga, Daehwa, Jeungjadong, Youngbo and Munbaek mines contained over the action levels of the metals due to intensive mining activities. Therefore, a proper remediation work needs to control the metal dispersion around the mines.

As the IC(Integrated Circuit) has been densified and complicated, it is required to thorough process control to improve yield. Experts, for this purpose, focused on the process analysis automation, which is came from the strict data management in semiconductor manufacturing. In this paper, we presents the process analysis system that can analyze causes, for a output after processes. Also, the plasma etching process that highly affects yield among semiconductor process is modeled to predict a output before the process. To approach this problem, we use adaptively trained neural networks that exhibit superior accuracy over statistical techniques. And in comparison with methods in other paper, a method that history of trend for input data is considered is shown to offer advantage in both learning and prediction capability. This research regards CD(Critical Dimension) that is considerable in high integrated circuit as output variable of the prediction model.
CRAMP, a 37-amino acid cationic antimicrobial peptide was recently deduced from the cDNA cloned from mouse femoral marrow RNA. In order to investigate the structure-activity relationship and functional region of CRAMP, CRAMP and its 18-mer overlapping peptides were synthesized by the solid phase method. CRAMP showed broad spectrum antibacterial activity against both Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacterial strains (MIC: 3.125-6.25 μM) but had no hemolytic activity until 50 μM. CRAMP was found to have a potent anticancer activity (IC50: 12-23 μM) against two human small cell lung cancer cell lines. Furthermore, CRAMP was found to display faster bactericidal rate in B. subtilis rather than E. coli in the kinetics of bacterial killing. Among 18-meric overlapping fragment peptides, only CRAMP (16-33) displayed potent antibacterial activity (MIC: 12.5-50 μM) against several bacteria with no hemolytic activity. Circular dichroism (CD) spectra anal-ysis indicated that CRAMP and its analogues will form the amphipathic α-helical conformation in the cell membranes similar to other antimicrobial peptides, such as cecropins and magainins.
BACKGROUND: This study was performed to evaluate the effects of environmental factors and heavy metals on the growth and phosphorus removal capacity of Alcaligenes sp., which was well known as one of PAOs(Phosphorus Accumulating Microorganisms). METHODS AND RESULTS: The environmental factors used in this study were temperature, pH and carbon sources, and the heavy metals included Cu, Cd, Zn, As, and Ni. The growth and P removal efficiency of Alcaligenes sp. was maximal as temperature, pH, and carbon source were $25^{\circ}C$, 7, and glucose+acetate, respectively. Also, the $IC_{50}$(median inhibitory Concentration) values of Alcaligenes sp. for the Cu, Cd, Zn, As, and Ni were 5.03, 0.08, 0.73, 282.20 and 4.74 mg/L, respectively. CONCLUSION(S): Based on the results obtained from this study, it appears that the growth and P removal efficiency of Alcaligenes sp. were affected by the environment factors and at the best optimum condition for its growth and P removal efficiency, as the concentrations of heavy metals were gradually increased, its growth was correspondingly decreased.
1 The present work was performed to investigate the effects of ginsenoside Rh2 on proliferation, cell cycle-regulation and differentiation of human leukemia HL-60 cells as well as the underlying mechanisms for these effects. 2 Ginsenoside Rh2 potently inhibited the proliferation of HL-60 cells in both a dose- and time-dependent manner with an $IC_{50}$, $20{\mu}M$. 3 DNA flow-cytometry indicated that ginsenoside Rh2 markedly induced a $G_1$ phase arrest of HL-60 cells. 4 Among the $G_1$ phase cell cycle-related proteins, the levels of cyclin-dependent kinase(CDK)4, 6 and cyclin D1, cyclin D2, cyclin D3 were reduced by ginsenoside Rh2, whereas the steadystate levels of CDK2 and cyclin E were unaffected. 5 The protein levels of a CDK inhibitor p16, $p21^{CIP1/WAF1}$ and $p27^{KIP1}$ were markedly increased by ginsenoside Rh2. 6 Ginsenoside Rh2 markedly enhanced the binding of $p21^{CIP1/WAF1}$ and $p27^{KIP1}$ with CDK2 and CDK6, resulting in the reduced activity of both kinases and the hypophosphorylation of Rb protein. 7 We furthermore suggest that ginsenoside Rh2 is a potent inducer of the differentiation of HL-60 cells, based on observations such as a reduction of the nitroblue tetrazolium level, an increase in the esterase activities and phagocytic activity, morphology changes, and the expression of CD11b, CD14, CD64 and CD66b surface antigens. 8 In conclusion, the onset of ginsenoside Rh2-induced the $G_0/G_1$ arrest of HL-60 cells prior to the differentiation is linked to a sharp up-regulation of the $p21^{CIP1/WAF1}$ level and a decrease in the CDK2, CDK4 and CDK6 activities. This is the first report demonstrating that ginsenoside Rh2 potently inhibits the proliferation of human promyelocytic HL-60 cells via the $G_1$ phase cell cycle arrest and differentiation induction.

A dual-level low voltage differential signalling (DLVDS) circuit is proposed aiming at reducing transmission lines for LCD driver IC. In the proposed circuit, we apply a couple of primitive data to DLVDS circuit as inputs. The transmitter converts two inputs to two kinds of fully differential level signals. In this circuit, two transmission lines are sufficient to transfer two primitive inputs while keeping the LVDS feature. The receiver recovers The original input data through a level decoding circuit. We fabricated the proposed circuit using $0.25\mu m$ CMOS technology. The resultant circuit shows 1-Gbps/2-line data rate and 35-mW power consumption at 2.5V supply voltage, respectively.
A 20.9-kDa metalloprotease was isolated from dried fruiting bodies of the wild basidiomycete mushroom Lepista nuda. The N-terminal amino acid sequence of the protease was seen to be ATFVLTAATNTLFTA, thus displaying no similarity with the sequences of previously reported metalloproteases. The protease was purified using a procedure that entailed ion-exchange chromatography on CM-Cellulose, Q-Sepharose, and Mono S, and FPLC-gel filtration on Superdex 75. The protease functioned at an optimum pH of 7.0 and an optimum temperature of $50^{\circ}C$. It was also noted that the protease demonstrated a proteolytic activity of 1,756 U/mg toward casein. The $K_m$ of the purified protease toward casein was 6.36 mg/ml at a pH of 7.0 and with a temperature of $37^{\circ}C$, whereas the $V_{max}$ was 9.11 ${\mu}g\;ml^{-1}\;min^{-1}$. The activity of the protease was adversely affected by EDTA-2Na, suggesting that it is a metalloprotease. PMSF, EGTA, aprotinin, and leupeptin exerted no striking inhibitory effect. The activity of the protease was enhanced by $Fe^{2+}$, but was curtailed by $Cd^{2+}$, $Cu^{2+}$, $Hg^{2+}$, $Pb^{2+}$, $Zn^{2+}$, and $Fe^{2+}$ ions. The protease also exhibited inhibitory activity against HIV-1 reverse transcriptase with an $IC_{50}$ value of 4.00 ${\mu}M$. The $IC_{50}$ values toward hepatoma Hep G2 and leukemia L1210 cells in vitro were 4.99 ${\mu}M$ and 3.67 ${\mu}M$, respectively.
