This study aims at the phase-field modeling of the phase transformation in graphitization of the cast iron. As the first step, we constructed a phase-field model including the phases with negligible solubility. Under the dilute regular solution approximation, a simplified version of the phase-field model was obtained, which can be used for the phase transformation related with the stoichiometric phases. The results from the numerical calculation of the phase-field model was in good agreement with the exact analytic solution. The compositional shift due to Gibbs-Thomson effect can be reproduced within 0.5% error in the numerical calculation. The interface velocity, whereas, in numerical calculation of phase-field model appeared to be 15% larger than that from the analytic solution. This error is due to the shift of the interface position in phase-field model from the position with ${\phi}=0.5$.
A modified kinematic wave model of the overland flow in vegetated filter strips was developed. The model can predict both flow depth and hydraulic radius of the flow. Existing models can predict only mean flow depth. By using the hydraulic radius, erosion, deposition and flow's transport capacity can be more rationally computed. Spacing hydraulic radius was used to compute flow's hydraulic radius. Numerical solution of the model was accomplished by using both a second-order nonlinear scheme and a linear solution scheme. The nonlinear portion of the model ensures convergence and the linear portion of the model provides rapid computations. This second-order nonlinear scheme minimizes numerical computation errors that may be caused by linearization of a nonlinear model. This model can also be applied to golf courses, parks, no-till fields to route runoff and production and attenuation of many nonpoint source pollutants.
This work reports the application of a hollow fiber module(HFM) for Cr(VI) extraction from heavy metal salts mixed solution by using microporous hydrophobic hollow fiber module. In HFM configuration, the organic extraction used for the extraction of Cr(VI) was di-(2-ethyl hexyl) phosphoric acid(D2EHPA) diluted with n-heptane. The study of HFM includes the influence of hydrodynamic and chemical condition, i.e., the flow rate of feed solution, the time of reactive extraction, the concentration of feed solution, and the pH of aqueous phase solutions. Several experiments with synthetic solution of different mixed components system of Cr(VI) solutions established optimum condition to achieve a clean separation of Cr(VI). It was possible to separate Cr(VI) in the presence of metal salts mixed solution, such as Zn(II), Ni(II), Cu(II), and Cd(II) using the HFM technique.
Objectives This study was done to investigate the safety of Soyeom pharmacopuncture solution manufactured with freezing dryness method to use eye drop. Methods The eye irritation test of this material was performed according to the Regulation of Korea Food & Drug Administration(2005. 10. 21, KFDA 2005-60). After Soyeom pharmacopuncture solution was medicated in the left eye of the rabbits, the auther observed eye irritation of the cornea, iris, conjunctiva at 1, 2, 3, 4 & 7day. Results 1. After Soyeom pharmacopuncture solution was medicated in the left eye of the rabbits, there wasn't physical problem at 9 rabbits. 2. After Soyeom pharmacopuncture solution was medicated in the left eye of the rabbits, there wasn't eye irritation of the cornea, iris, conjunctiva at 1, 2, 3, 4 & 7day. Conclusions I suggested that Soyeom pharmacopuncture solution didn't induced eye irritation in rabbits.
The goal of this study is to evaluate the performance of different solution types(a GPS-only, a GLONASS-only, and a GNSS solution) on GNSS positioning modes which are point positioning and relative positioning(DGNSS-, Static-, and Kinematic-solutions). I started with GNSS sites of seoul metropolitan government's RTK network which providing combined GPS/GLONASS observations : Gangseo(GANS), Dobong(DBON). The positioning accuracy of different solution types on positining modes are compared. Considering the compared results of all cases, can find not only the difference of the performance between the GNSS solution and the GPS-only solution is very small, but also the GLONASS-only solution is not far from the other solution types taking into consideration that GLONASS system is not (yet) a complete system.
A far field solution of the slowly varying force on an offshore structure by gravity ocean waves was shown as a function of the reflection and transmission of the body disturbed waves. The solution was obtained from the conservation of the momentum flux, which simply describes various wave forces, while making it unnecessary to compute complicated integration over a control surface. The solution was based on the assumption that the frequency difference of the bichromatic incident waves is small and its second order term is negligible. The final solution is expressed in term of the reflection and transmission waves, i.e. their amplitudes and phase angles. Consequently, it shows that not only the amplitudes but also the phase differences make critical contributions to the slowly varying force. In a limiting case, the slowly varying force solution gives the one of the mean drift force, which is only dependent on the reflection wave amplitude. An approximation is also suggested in a case where only the mean drift force information is available.
The problem of disjunctive causal factors is generalized as follows. Suppose that there are no factors of the kind considered so far that need to be held fixed in background contexts. Nevertheless, it is still possible that within the background contexts, each disjunct of a disjunctive causal factor X v W confers a different probability on an effect factor in Question. So a problem arises of how we identify a single causally significant probability of the effect factor in the presence of the disjunctive causal factor, assuming that each disjunct of the disjunctive causal factor confers a different probability on the effect factor. In this paper, I first introduce an experiment in which disjunctive causal factors seem to pose a problem for the theory of probabilistic causation. Second, I show how Eells' solution to the problem of disjunctive causal factors meets the problem that arises in the experiment. Third, I examine Hitchcock's arguments against Eells' solution, arguing that Hitchcock misconstrues Eells' solution, and disregards the feature of the theory of probabilistic causation such that a factor is a causal factor for another factor relative to a population P of a population type Q.
