독립인 확률변수들의 Tail 합의 극한 성질에 대하여 (Limiting Behavior of Tail Series of Independent Random Variable)

  • 본 연구에서는, 서로 독립인 확률변수들의 합 $S_n$이 수렴하는 경우에, 확률변수들의 Tail 합 $T_n=S-S_{n-1}=\sum_{i=n}^{\infty}X_i$의 극한 성질을 연구함으로써, $S_n$이 하나의 확률변수 S로 수렴하는 속도를 연구한다. 좀 더 구체적으로 말하자면, 유사-단조감소(Quasi-monotone decreasing)하는 상수(Norming constants)의 수열에 대하여, 확률변수들의 Tail 합에 대한 약대수법칙과 하나의 수렴법칙이 동등함을 정리로 기술하고 증명하여, 기존의 연구 결과를 더 넓은 부류의 상수들의 경우에 적용할 수 있도록 확장한다.

딥 러닝 기반의 영상처리 기법을 이용한 겹침 돼지 분리 (Separation of Occluding Pigs using Deep Learning-based Image Processing Techniques)

  • The crowded environment of a domestic pig farm is highly vulnerable to the spread of infectious diseases such as foot-and-mouth disease, and studies have been conducted to automatically analyze behavior of pigs in a crowded pig farm through a video surveillance system using a camera. Although it is required to correctly separate occluding pigs for tracking each individual pigs, extracting the boundaries of the occluding pigs fast and accurately is a challenging issue due to the complicated occlusion patterns such as X shape and T shape. In this study, we propose a fast and accurate method to separate occluding pigs not only by exploiting the characteristics (i.e., one of the fast deep learning-based object detectors) of You Only Look Once, YOLO, but also by overcoming the limitation (i.e., the bounding box-based object detector) of YOLO with the test-time data augmentation of rotation. Experimental results with two-pigs occlusion patterns show that the proposed method can provide better accuracy and processing speed than one of the state-of-the-art widely used deep learning-based segmentation techniques such as Mask R-CNN (i.e., the performance improvement over Mask R-CNN was about 11 times, in terms of the accuracy/processing speed performance metrics).

스마트 항로표지의 데이터 수집 성능에 영향을 미치는 요인에 관한 연구 (A study on the factors influencing the data collection performance of smart buoys)

  • 항로표지는 해상상황 정보를 수집하고 선박들의 항해에 안전을 도모하기 위해 설치 및 운용되고 있다. 관련해 개별 지방청에서 운영되는 데이터를 빅데이터 형태로 활용하고자 하는 경우 수집된 데이터의 품질에 대한 평가가 이루어져야 한다. 본 논문에서는 수집된 항로표지 데이터의 누락 정보를 중심으로 데이터 수집에 있어 장애 생성의 주된 원인을 찾고자 하였다. 수집된 데이터의 분석 결과 기상악화와 표지의 전압이 하락한 날에 데이터 결측 발생률이 톺음을 확인할 수 있었다. 이를 통해 기상 상황, 표지의 전압 상태 그리고 수집된 데이터 개수의 비교를 통해 기상악화가 영향을 미쳤을 수 있음을 확인하였다.

Development of ICT as an evolutionary process

  • The research shows how the technological change of 'Information and Communication Technology' (ICT) is accompanied with the usage change. It aims to provide a better conceptualization with empirical findings about the fact that the technological development of ICT is a convergence process of ICT factors with the usage of ICT moving from a limited coverage toward a general-purpose. The research adapts a descriptive methodology on a historical matter and demonstrates how it can be conducted through analytical description of Input-Output tables (I/O) the over periods. The case is about the UK with sequential I/O during 1970s- 90s.

모바일 영어말하기평가 융합 시스템 모형 타당도 검사 (The Development and Validation of a Mobile-based English Speaking Test Convergence Model)

  • 본 연구에서는 모바일기반 영어말하기평가 융합 모형을 개발하였다. 대학생들에게 요구분석을 실시한 결과를 바탕으로 아이폰과 안드로이드 모바일기기용 평가 앱을 개발하고, 그 시험타당도 검사를 실시하였다. 영어말하기 평가 개발을 위하여 시험문항, 채점요인, 척도를 개발하였다. 요구분석에서 대학생 총 89명 중 69명(79.3%)은 안드로이드폰을, 17명(19.5%)은 아이폰을 사용하고 있었다. 이 결과를 기반으로 iOS와 안드로이드 OS용 영어말하기평가 앱을 개발하였다. 이를 위해 HTML5, Javascript bridge 기술, Node와 Express, Mongo DB 등의 기술을 적용하였다. 실험에서는 5명의 수험자를 대상으로 평가를 시행하여 모든 기능이 정상적으로 작동함을 확인하고 수험자들의 피드백을 수집함으로써 시험타당도를 확보하였다.

Gintonin, a Panax ginseng-derived LPA receptor ligand, attenuates kainic acid-induced seizures and neuronal cell death in the hippocampus via anti-inflammatory and anti-oxidant activities

  • Background: Gintonin (GT), a Panax ginseng-derived lysophosphatidic acid receptor (LPAR) ligand, has positive effects in cultured or animal models for Parkinson's disease, Huntington's disease, and so on. However, the potential therapeutic value of GT in treating epilepsy has not yet been reported. Methods: Effects of GT on epileptic seizure (seizure) in kainic acid [KA, 55mg/kg, intraperitoneal (i.p.)]-induced model of mice, excitotoxic (hippocampal) cell death in KA [0.2 ㎍, intracerebroventricular (i.c.v.)]-induced model of mice, and levels of proinflammatory mediators in lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-induced BV2 cells were investigated. Results: An i.p. injection of KA into mice produced typical seizure. However, it was significantly alleviated by oral administration of GT in a dose-dependent manner. An i.c.v. injection of KA produced typical hippocampal cell death, whereas it was significantly ameliorated by administration of GT, which was related to reduced levels of neuroglial (microglia and astrocyte) activation and proinflammatory cytokines/enzymes expression as well as increased level of the Nrf2-antioxidant response via the upregulation of LPAR 1/3 in the hippocampus. However, these positive effects of GT were neutralized by an i.p. injection of Ki16425, an antagonist of LPA1-3. GT also reduced protein expression level of inducible nitric-oxide synthase, a representative proinflammatory enzyme, in LPS-induced BV2 cells. Treatment with conditioned medium clearly reduced cultured HT-22 cell death. Conclusion: Taken together, these results suggest that GT may suppress KA-induced seizures and excitotoxic events in the hippocampus through its anti-inflammatory and antioxidant activities by activating LPA signaling. Thus, GT has a therapeutic potential to treat epilepsy.

We prove that convergence problems of $sup_{(s,\;f)}|Z_n(s,\;f)|$ to zero boil down to those of $sup_f|Z_n(1,\;f)|$. We employ Ottaviani's inequality and the complete convergence to establish, under bracketing entropy with the second moment, the almost sure convergence of $sup_{(s,\;f)}|Z_n(s,\;f)|$ to zero.
